12/09/06 Geeks.... Lost, but not forgotten

Tomorrow, I get to prepare for the old "up Periscope" test. I want to make sure of a clean bill of health before we leave. Can't wait to drink that happy jug of prescription cocktail (NOT).

I hope everything comes out alright! :flower3:

Hi Brandi!

We really miss seeing you here!

I missed you guys too...

I never heard it called the "up Periscope" before....I like that!!! I hope it goes well.

Good morning all. I am so jealous of those of you who are packing and getting ready to set out on the repo. :( I will be thinking of all of you during your cruise and we are already planning to watch you go through the locks. :) DS is already having major test anxiety and the EOGs aren't until May 20 so I know that we made the right decision. He needs this time to relax and focus so his confidence will be there when he really needs it.

We leave tomorrow morning for LA. We will be there until Wed, spending Mon and Tues at DL.:yay: We then will be at WDW Thurs and Friday before hooking up with the Geeks Fri afternoon/evening and heading to the port on Saturday. :woohoo: We are SO looking forward to our Month of Magic and especially getting to be with at least some of our Geek family. :grouphug:

Brack, Marielle and Dennis . . .

Just wanted you to know that yesterday I took the plunge and bought the Canon 28-135 lens that we talked about over a year and a half ago . . . A real pain in the wallet, but it looks like a great lens!

Can't wait to use it on this trip!

Sounds awesome! So, I guess the camera bag is packed... anything else??!!

Actually . . . I had to go and buy a new top load bag so the lens would fit, and the guy checked it with the new Rebel xsi . . . where's that drooling smiley when I need one . . ..?

I'll tell Dennis when he wakes up. He will want to compare yours with his when he sees you! :lmao:

We had a fun day at DL with Aaron and his parents yesterday. They left last night (his Daddy has to work) so today will just be the two of us. :lovestruc

As long as you and Amy don't compare mine with his, I guess that is OK . . . :rotfl:

John, you are so cute, lol.

Angie and Dennis, you got to see Aaron, woo hoo, but we get to see him at the end of the month, correct?

Pj

You will love it! :thumbsup2

I'm looking at the 75 - 300 lens next. Maybe when we go on our next cruise. :woohoo:

Hi everyone! John, I'm glad to see news is good about your brother!

Is that the 28-135 IS lens that comes standard with the 40D? I am so drooling over the 40D. I want to buy it like NOW! My website has been live for a couple weeks now and I got my business license and resellers license and I have been doing shoots practically every weekend to build my portfolio. Here's the site: www.studio-je.com and my blog with recent shots: http://blog.studio-je.com

Brack - I took a 70-200 on the cruise but didn't use it much :( It doesn't have image stabilization so I get real bad camera shake.

My arsenal currently consists of a 28-75mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.8 and a Speedlite 580exII. I am thinking of getting a 85mm f1.8 for portraiture as well.... If I could afford the 24-70L,.... sigh.... I need a new Crumpler (7 million dollar home) once I get the 40D.

Now, the other reason I came to post... I bought our plane tickets for our cruise in December!!! I thought we'd wind up paying $500 a person at the rate fuel was going up, but on a whim, I checked tonight. They seemed decent so I checked Skymiles and found two tickets for the miles we had, and then found the same itinerary on the paid side for $250. Total including fees and taxes for all 4 tickets was $585! Lovin' it!

Now, if y'all could pray a bit for Scott. He interviewed last Tuesday so it's been a week and he hasn't heard anything. The store opens on June 25th so we are still a ways away, but it would be nice if he knew one way or the other. He sent an email to the HR person yesterday just to thank her and reiterate how much he wanted to work there. I hope hope hope he hears soon!

Well, have a great trip - those of you heading off on your cruises. I wish we could at least meet up with you in LA, but traveling is out of the question right now... I'm just hoping things look up soon so we don't have to cancel December. I could always put it on a credit card (don't many Americans anyway?) but I have paid cash for our vacations for so long, I don't want to go back the credit route!

Safe travels to our our friends heading to WDW this week for the repo. We will be with you in spirit and if you find any time to check in and make us envious...please do here. :) The live thread will be difficult to keep up with I am sure.
