Okay what are everyone's plan for the weekend? Just going to a New Year's Eve Service here. Trying to stay out of trouble this year...that would be a first. :teeth:

Tomorrow we're taking our oldest son (Ryan) to his aunt and uncle's house where they host all the potty trained nieces and nephews for an overnight of games pizza and fun. The idea is the parents gets the night off to enjoy New Year's Eve...that's the idea, but we're the only ones in the family with one child not fully potty trained (at almost 4 you'd think Drew would be, but he's not at 100% yet). So, we'll also go to New Year's Eve service and then dinner. We'll go home and have fun with the three of us. Drew is a night owl, so he'll more than likely have no problem hanging with us to celebrate the new year!

Have a great weekend everyone. Be safe with whatever you do. Wishing everyone a blessed and happy new year! We're off to Disney on Ice tonight. My sister in law had club level seats that they weren't using, so that was a nice surprise!!!

It is raining and windy here and supposed to rain for at least the next 7 days -- there is concern about flooding, as the river level is rising. Even my DH is worried -- My job is to move everything that is "necessary" to the 2nd floor, just in case. Honestly, if I had to evacuate in a hurry, I'd grab my computer and go.... I think I need to get an external hard drive that is easier to detach.

But, 99.9% chance that nothing will happen so we will spend NYE here... I will make my signature special dinner menu (steak, shrimp scampi, fettucine alfredo). I picked up a recipe for peanut butter cup cheesecake too so I will try that one this year. The kids will play and we will watch TV and most likely fall asleep before midnight or watch the ball drop in bed.

Here she is "Sarah" and my D/D....

I guess we've "gone to the dogs"!

(someone had to say it) :rotfl2:

BTW - your picture is great too Mark - your DD looks very happy with Sarah!

OK Kristen - get us a picture of that "cute" dog now!

John

BTW Jordan, DW says she wishes you lived in OH - She would have you do our house AND puppysit :dog2:- we had no idea you were so multi-faceted and talented! :thewave:

How cute is that! It turns out the first night with our puppy was wonderful. You can not ask for a better puppy. He seems to be pretty much potty trained, doesn't jump on the couches. He lays or sits on the floor next to you. He doesn't jump on you. The only problem with him is he backs away anytime you go to pet him. I am really wondering if he was hit and that is why he is so well behaved. This new dog makes my other dog look crazy. I am sure after the new dog realizes we are suckers he'll be right up on the couch like our first one.

I spent the afternoon at the Saturn dealer getting a recall checked out (it is fine) and getting my car serviced. Luckily they have a TV in the lobby and as I was the only one there when I first arrived I got to choose the channel. :teeth: I got to watch the end of the UCLA. :cheer2: Jordan, I'm guessing your family was happy with that game. We are happy with another Pac10 win. :cheer2: DH had to work yesterday, but I got to spend most of the day watching Bowl games. More today and DH gets to be home with me. :cheer2: I LOVE this time of year.

How close to the river are you? We will keep your family in our prayers. They are talking about flooding here in the NW also. We live on a mountain and are not in danger. Your DH is wise to move everything upstairs.

Let us know how that peanutbutter cup cheesecake turns out. That sounds YUMMY!

I'm going to make a pot of chili today and ham and potato salad tomorrow. As we are going out to dinner tonight, I think those two things will last us a few days. Sounds like Dennis will be eating leftovers most of the week! :teeth:

Ok, Fresno State/Tulsa game is on. I'm gonna go watch for awhile. :cheer2: Have a great day all!

We are not "right next" to the river, as some residents are. They are definitely having problems since they live right behind the levee!! The only real problem we would have here is if there was a break in the levee, and I guess the levee system is so old that there are many potential problems there.

There is a break in the storm right now so it's clearing up but another one is headed in tonight. They are planning to open the weirs this afternoon which will divert water off the river into the Yolo and Sutter bypasses and should take some pressure off the river. We had this same scenario in 1997 and they say this is not nearly as bad as it was then, so we will sit tight and hope for the best.

If you want to see where we are in relation to the river, here is a map. We are slightly north of the star, but you can see the river to the left of the map. If you scroll to the north, you'll see more neighborhoods that are directly off the river, and those are the ones to pray for!

I love all the puppies!!! We had a dog....then we had children...had to keep the children and give up the dog!!! My little one was too rough on the dog, can you believe it! :confused3 And it was a dobbie!

Anyway love all the new pets.

I'm surprised how many of you are from the west coast.

Hey all you easterners....where are you?
