7 degrees here this morning. :cold: Ugh! Are you kidding me?

My DH was in Buffalo for work from 12/5-12/10...he said it was FREEZING, he couldn't believe how cold it was. Quite a shock coming from California, where just a few weeks ago we were wearing short sleeved shirts! Poor guy, he said he just froze!!!!

Stay warm!!!! :sunny:

-14 °C here Toronto today with a windchill of -23°C, I have no clue what that is in °F, but it is darn cold. they said it is warmer in the Yukon Territory, near the artict circle.

I am doing my "onboard" ressie for the special 7 nt Costa Maya cruise but they tell me that I only will get the onboard credit for $200. The 10% disct is not available for this special sail. Did you get it your disct? I am booking for Sept 16,2006.

They are calling for record lows tonight AND snow/ice on Thursday. Can we make this year go by any faster!!!! Please!!!! I want to be sitting in a hammock on CC.

Could be that it is due to the fact that the sailing you are looking at is the lowest priced of the double castaway cay dates. :confused3

I thought all on board ressies got a 10% discount unless it was the repo.

Danielle told me special sailings don't get the 10% discount (like repo cruises, Mexican Riv. etc). But I would have assumed this double dip cruise was a special sailing, yet at the time the 10% and the $200 OBC applied. Dunno what to think?

The poster wrote in another thread that they didn't pay the down payment in time so the ressie was lost. That is why the 10% no longer applied. DCL was nice in still giving the $200 on board credit.

Hello, My family and I just returned from the Wonder and re-booked for this cruise. I found out the hard way that the 10% credit did not apply for a cat 12 room. Can someone help w/ advise of the current cheapest fare? I also have to consider the passport fees for the new year.

This seems like a great group to vacation with so I am trying to do my research and make this happen. Thank you, Gregg.

Welcome ggg!! :goodvibes

What exactly do you mean by you learned the hard way?? You weren't able to see if it would be cheaper to take a Cat 11 WITH the 10%?? What happened? Did you at least get the $200 shipboard credit??

Hi Gregg-I also didn't quite understand what you were saying...it's my understanding from Danielle, regardless of what cat you rebook while onboard, as long as it's a regular sailing the 10% disc is given along with a $200 OBC, provided you rebook onboard. I can tell you, we were able to get in on a group rate through Dreams Unlimited, which was $700 cheaper than the onboard DCL rate and the DCL rate included a 10% discount and $200 OBC. I would suggest contacting DU to see if they still have a group rate available! They're great!!!

Good luck!!!

How many are considered as a "group" for the group rate?? Does this include children and babies??

From what I understand, some TAs, such as DU, book enough rooms to qualify for a group rate and then they can sell them cheaper. It is by room, not by who is in the room. From what I see, they do not have any for the September cruise you are looking at.

Bummer! We have 3 SR so far.

But some TAs "buy" a block of rooms and sell them cheaper than DCL. Then if they don't sell all the rooms by a set date, DCL buys them back. That's how I got my great rate. I'm part of a group rate, but I don't know anybody else in the "group". Hope that makes sense.

How does it work if I find a cheaper rate elsewhere? Can DCL match it or do I need to have them send my ressie to the cheaper TA? :confused3

DCL doesn't "match" the price. You just ask the TA to switch your ressie to them. You will lose your shipboard credit ONLY if it is a group discount on the room, Otherwise you will get to keep it!

A "group" for most cruise lines is 15 staterooms (on some lines it is 10 staterooms), in any catagory combinations, booked at a single time. What generally happens is that one of the staterooms become a "free or group leader/organizer" cabin. Tour companies and travel agencies then spread that savings over all 15 cabins, therefore offering a lower rate then the orginating cruise line can.

At least my travel degree is being used to help my fellow cruisers, lol.

Well, I did book a cat 11 w/the discount for around 3,200. I later found a rate of $ 2,961 through ***************** for a cat. 12 W/O the 10%. The T/A also gave me a $75 credit for switching over. I was also able to keep my $200 on board credit.

I was just curious if anyone knew of any other T/A's with a better price. I know that Disney also has the 2,960 price w/o insurance and transfers. I was very disappointed that Disney Cruise Line will not offer a 10 % discount for an on-board booking of a cat. 12 stateroom. They are basically ripping off the consumer W/the discount for a cat 11. I know it is common for an automatic upgrade to a cat. 11 w/ 4 people. Thanks, GGG.

Hello. I am new to this board as of today. I am not sure how this whole thing works, so it will probalby take me some time to figure everything out. I will also be sailing with everyone and just booked our wedding for the double dip cruise. Our ceremony will be on Thursday, December 14, 2006, which also happens to be my dhtb birthday!!!!!

Can't wait for warm weather and fun.
