we had a 5K run/walk this past weekend to raise money for our organization. I was the only employee that participated in any of the planning. the organizer did not even secure volunteers to help around the course--calling out times and encouraging people. I had brough DD, DS, and two of DD's friends, when it came time for the volunteers to be placed around the course, the organizer said "just drop the kids off at the four corners". I looked at her and firmly stated that the kids would be put at corners with partners, meaning two corners were not staffed. the girls are 15 & 16 and DS is only 11. It is a nice part of town but there was no way they were staying on a corner by themselves. the police officers were within yelling distance but OMG. she just had her first child 4 months ago. I can't wait until her son is 11 and to tell her to just drop him off at the corner.

.... I have a project that's for older adults that i had to deny today. (not my fault) The developer had promised these people that they could go to settlement on Monday and Tuesday..(Uhhhh they don't even have certificate of occupancy yet

...)

I feel bad i had to tell a 70 yr old women that it's probably a no go for her move (yes, i'm the bad guy

)...To top that off when i was reviewing her unit it looks like the builder's screwed up and violated building seperation and her house is too close to the next one. Yeah now the builder has turned the buyers on me.

I have to screen all my calls...It's a nightmare....

So has anyone ever been to one of those places where you make a whole bunch of meals in a very short time?

Our local one is called Main Dish. I made 12 meals in 2 hours....tonight I came home and popped MExican Lasagna in teh oven....that took 30 seconds...dinner will be ready in 25 minutes.

so far we love the food and dinner time is AMAZINGLY easy.

I think that Kim & Amy have talked about those places in the past. The closest one here is over 2 hours away.

Just popping in for a minute, I'm being very rude and haven't caught up on previous posts because the boss is back from Japan. But, I did want to say that

I got the raise! 8% Now back to my regularly scheduled work, so I can look like I deserve it.

I too have a lot of trouble with that little 2 letter word. co workers keep telling me to tell my boss no to his last minute requests. they tell me to just let him fail at something and maybe he would learn a lesson. the only bad part about that is that if he fails, we probably lose a part of our funding. I also can't seem to say that word when it comes to girl scouts, I have been in charge of the cookies for our service unit for 9 years including one year when I was head honcho of the whole group. there are roughly 40 troops with 400 girls and we sell about 50,000 boxes of cookies. luckily I never have to touch the cookies but the paperwork is enough. I keep practicsing saying "no" and I am using it more often. but I know exactly what you mean

I really have been saying NO quite a bit compared to last year. In fact today the cafeteria manager was kidding with me & said that parents can be thrown out. I just said that the reason I don't have a title this year is so that I can say no and I quit whenever I want. It is frustrating though because the "VP" hasn't done a rootin tootin thing yet this year. They are asking her to step down if she isn't. She has no idea when the carnival is taking place or what is happening & no....she wont be there.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone! I am enjoying catching up on all the posts! I am so excited to meet everyone at the port. Will there truly be a banana mascot there? My cousin met a bunch of DISers at Cape May last week. He called & asked if I own a lime green shirt!!

I probably should have been scared by this but it was too cool. This was when one of the Magic's stacks caught fire. It was just like a chimney fire. I need to tell my story about this sometime. It was funny .... afterwards.

Where you on the ship that cruise? I have read some accounts. It sounded like a very scarey night.

Computer update:


The good news: My laptop is no longer MIA at the Best Buy repair facility.


The somewhat surprising news: It's been recalled.


The very good news: I get to pick out a new computer!


The only thing I'm a teensy bit worried about is making sure the data gets backed up onto a dvd before they destroy the hard drive. The Geek squad guys swear it's a no brainer, but these are the same people who've taken almost a month to realize it'd been recalled.

That is good news for us Charlotte, so you can be around more. But, sad for the librarians as they will surely miss you. I would guess they will have "Charlotte's chair" gold plated for posterity, maybe a plaque of some kind too.

Now how long does BB say it will take? I would think they would put a rush on it since they have taken so long to get this all straightened out!

I am usually in charge of getting the spot...I take off and get there (without the shuttle tram, mind you...) and don't usually see DW and DD for about an hour afterward. Nice pieceful time...umm, I didn't mean being without the DW and DD was peaceful...NOOOO. I wouldn't say that. No. Not at all.

DW said that was the Adult Beach, yes? In that case, have a nice run....we haven't been over there yet.

BTW Angie!!!!!! DD should be arriving in a few hours. She needs a safe house & you offered last night & all. Seriously IDK what got into her earlier. I also have to deal with my friend's 5th grader fighting with both of my kids. DS ran into the school around 3:30 as we were getting ready to leave holding his throat which was red and said that her DS beat him up & was fighting with DD. I ran outside & DD was on the ground & he was holding her down. Apparently, DD kicked him when he was choking DS so then he turned on her. She got a few more kicks in apparently since he told his mom that she wore pointy hard shoes today. I know that he has gotten in trouble but am really concerned about the kids getting along for the next three afternoons after school while we work on the carnival. DS really looked up to this kid and he has been nice to DS lending him books & talking to him alot. I hope that their friendship can be repaired.

this sounds like an awful situation but it sounds like your dd jumped in to help your ds.. very sweet!
