I LOVE sourkraut... grew up on it. My dad used to slice up hot dogs in it (yuck!) and I'd pick out the hot dogs but eat the kraut. I still love the stuff but DH, DS, and DD won't touch the stuff. Oh well, more for me.

Dody -- My Mom used to make hot dogs & sourkraut....but I skipped the kraut and picked the hot dogs out!

I probably should share with you my heartbreaking story. The last two times I have had to give Allie her eye drops I had to straddle her and pin her down in order to get the drops in her eyes. The whole time she is crying and screaming "No Mommy! No No Mommy! Mommy No!" It is just heartbreaking to me. I know she needs the drops and they will make her better but it is just so hard to hear because I know she thinks I am just hurting her for no real reason.

Oh Becka, I have sooooo gone through what you're dealing with now. Just breaks your heart. You know you have to put the drops in, but they're screaming and wriggling around and looking up at you like "why are you doing this to me?" Auuugh.

When our oldest DS was about 3, another kid poked him in the eye at a playground. Ended up in the hospital ER when his eye started hurting a few hours later. The doctor on duty at the time was being really impatient with him. DS was scared out of his mind.....was supposed to lie still on the hospital bed while the Dr. put drops in his eye to see if his cornea was scratched (it was).

I'm trying to hold DS from falling off the table (he was twisting his head back 'n forth). The Dr. says "Excuse me, but let me say something to him." I thought he was going to try to comfort DS. But what he says is: "Little boy, if you continue to cry, I'm going to have to tie you down to this table and put the drops in."

At that point, I came unglued.

Another Dr. heard the commotion, came in and took over, calmed DS down somehow and got the drops in. He was wonderful!

Turned out the first Dr. was at the end of his shift and was tired. Understandable. But, for a long time we didn't go back to that hospital if we had any kid-related ER problems.


Hang in there, Becka. You're doing it because you love her!
