While I know Brandi and Becka would rather me give the complete play by play...just re-read that post about 3 more times and you've got the feel for the week... so we will fast forward to last night...

Last night.....
DM (Dis Me or Dis Mom): Sweetie...this script is still in your folder? Are you sure you're not supposed to be doing something with it.

DS: Oh - I'm not, but you have to make a Lion costume for Monday.

:furious:

.....soooooo....anyone got any great ideas for me?!!!!!! :furious:
Ideas for the lion costume...or for getting your kid to tell you stuff???? Well...hum....nope..I have no ideas!!!!

My sweet talking prince finally woke up. We leave in 25 min for preschool. I need to get im moving. He just looks so sleepy this morning. I guess a night on the floor will do that to ya!

Could he get by if you put together a hooded sweatshirt type costume...

Use yarn for the mane around the hood; pin on tail

Look for tan sweats; if all else fails get white ones and use RIT dye for golden color.

Use more yarn at feet/hands (like tendrils of hair at the paws)

Kristina...what are you doing Saturday at 2:30??? If we show up at your doorstep...don't be surprised!

But seriously - great idea!!

Brandi - don't you love all the "sweet" talk?

The girls seemed to be ok this morning. Today Samantha has her very first field trip to the hospital to get a cardiac ultrasound (I thought they were going the other day!) So she wanted to make sure I wasn't late getting her to school. Nevermind that she makes me late almost daily.

As I was doing Samantha's hair Haley got into a bag of the fire hot doritos. Apparantly the eyes in the back of my head weren't working. You know, that kid ate them, never asked for a drink and went some kind of evil when I tried to take them away? I was shocked! I love hot stuff and Samantha has tried them but can't handle them. So she had orange fingers and it was all over her mouth. Lovely. I feed my kid Doritos for breakfast.

The Disney costumes came yesterday. I didn't open them until this morning. They look better than I expected and for the price you can't beat it.

Don't forget Grey's ladies!

Lighthouse Point man stabbed in chest by stingray

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LIGHTHOUSE POINT -- A man was in critical condition Thursday morning, a day after a stingray jumped onto his boat and stabbed him in the chest, leaving a foot-long barb stuck in him, authorities said.

James Bertakis, 81, of Lighthouse Point, was boating with his grown granddaughter and her friend Wednesday afternoon when the rare attack occurred. The woman were able to steer the boat back to Bertakis' home where they called authorities.

"It was a freak accident," said Lighthouse Point acting fire Chief David Donzella. "It's very odd that the thing jumped out of the water and stung him. We still can't believe it."

Bertakis was conscious when paramedics arrived. Surgeons were able to remove some of the barb, but were not able to locate the rest and feared it may have migrated. Bertakis suffered a closed chest wound, collapsed lung and may have to undergo open-heart surgery, rescue officials said.

The roughly 5-foot wide, 30 pound stingray died on the boat, firefighters said. They kept it in a plastic bag and on ice until Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Officers picked it up, Sullivan said.

Ellen Pikitch, a professor of marine biology and fisheries at the University of Miami, who has been studying stingrays for decades, said the fish are generally docile creatures.

"Something like this is really, really extraordinarily rare," she said. "I've never heard any reports of a stingray attacking a person. Even when they are under duress, they don't usually attack."

"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, 44, died Sept. 4 when a stingray's barb pierced his chest while he filmed a TV show on the Great Barrier Reef.

How weird is that? I don't think I have ever seen a stingray "jump" completely out of the water.

If you go to Michael's/AC Moore/Joann you can even find textured/ruffly/extra thick yarn that would be really effective. I bet you can find a yellow/gold sweatshirt that would work. Although not an exact match, you could go with khaki pants too.

I think she's accepted the DIS kids rules. They must find their own food, remember?

what's wild is they were up on a counter. She's really tiny and short for her age, she would have had to climb on something.....

And she believes in "Take what you can, Give nothing back!"

You can probably find a costume at the store. That would be the easiest!

I know all kids are different but Haley seems so little. She has been visiting the next room up and gosh these kids tower over her. The teachers say she holds her own and that I am sure of. I've seen her take a few wacks at Samantha. I looked at her next to her other friend Haley who is two months younger and she is just so much tinier than her. At her last checkup the Dr is fine with her height and weight and maybe I am comparing her to my giant Samantha but I'm a bit worried about her.

That is weird. Ever since Steve Irwin died from a stingray's barb I am sure we will hear about every time it happens. I am sure it is a really freak thing to occur.
