I told DH that we need to go out W/O the kids more often!

this may sound awful but last weekend at the LSU game we (I) had so much fun. I mean a BLAST. It was the first game I have been able to SIT all the way through! Certain things soothe my soul and drinking in the fans, the players, the everything about the stadium just does it for me!

It has been too long for DH and I. I fantasize about a nice long quiet dinner without having to deal with the kids. For that reason I am so looking forward to our Palo night.

Well, guess two trips to the Library in one day is plenty. :rotfl:

Have a great weekend all! Won't be back at "my chair" 'til Monday sometime.

Bye Charlotte! See you on Monday!

Did we know Denny was rich before? I must've missed something last year. I remember him telling her he was "well off", but that's all. :confused3 $8M.....whoa!

That's the question I've been wanting to ask...what did Denny do for a living?

How cool! :thumbsup2

We'd been corresponding with the son of some friends of ours who was stationed in Mosul, Iraq. About two months ago, his unit was on patrol and encountered one of those roadside suicide bombers. Luckily, the bomb detonated just in front of their vehicle (any later and they all most likely would have been killed). The friends' son/soldier suffered severe burns to his face, arms & hands as he was the driver that day.

After a while in Germany and then a world-class burn unit in San Antonio, Texas.....he came home for a visit. His folks sent an email to everyone that had been writing to him to let us know he was flying back into Reagan National Airport (D.C.) at about 11 p.m. one night.

Because of weather delays, his flight actually didn't get in 'til almost 1:15 a.m., but over 100 people (relatives, friends, acquaintenances, etc.) ALL came to the airport, stayed 'til his flight got in and welcomed him home! I still get choked up/teary just thinking about it now. People had banners, flags, signs......everyone cheered. The friend's son/soldier had no idea people were coming to greet him. It was a Hallmark moment.

I love it. You have me crying. God Bless America and the men and women who keep us safe!!

The Gators tipped off last night at midnight....I so miss the midnight madness....although when I was there - we were just starting to emerge....ie FREE tickets. Now they add basketball into our football season tickets....I dread next years ticket order.
Being a student is about the only way you can get Carolina basketball tickets... and it's still not guaranteed by a long shot. The people who donated $ to build the Smith Center have the lifetime rights to buy most of the tickets.

I feel the same way about Chapel Hill. Totally understand.

Caught up now.

I was scrubbing my windows earlier...it was unbelievable how much dust our pool project must have kicked up. Yuck! Guess when I had the windows open I never really noticed.

well - we just got home from what I thought was our last football game. NOT! Apparently the next team's coach (moving up in age and weight) brings a few select "smurf" guys up at the end of the season to train with the team, learn their techniques and go to the playoff games with them. Both my boys were chosen. Very honored...very proud of them....but not looking forward to the continuation of what has been a difficult season with homework and juggling everyone's schedule. My boys were on :cloud9:

Proud mom...signing off..
hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!!

Hugs. K

Congrats to your guys, Karen! but I understand thinking that the season was over and life could settle a bit (not to mention that it's getting colder and colder on the sidelines cheering for the kids!)

Serious bummer. I wanted to go see "Man of the Year" with Robin Williams.

It was freezing in our house this morning, too. Had to finally turn on the heat. With propane prices the past year, I've been ruling that thermostat with an iron glove! The boys know not to ask for the heat to be turned up unless they can see their breath coming out of their mouths! :lmao:

We have a 1,000-gallon buried propane tank and a couple of our bills this past winter were beyond scary! :scared1:
At least coal prices are very reasonable. Coal is mined in our county and all around us...that really helps with the prices.

That doesn't sound aweful to me! We all love our kids but let's face it...we all crave some "alone adult time!"

I am sure you are very proud. Your boys must be thrilled! I understand the happy/overwhelmed feeling. When we had our exchange student he played soccer. Just when I thought the season was ending they went to the playoffs. They went all of the way to the state playoffs...OY. I never thought the season would end. I was so proud of the boys yet ready for it to end!

Am I here all alone with a major milestone in the near future? I will just post smilies if you force me to be here all alone!
