They have to be young to have all that energy!goofyforlife said:Oh DD's not in that advanced, advanced section.....
But she seems to have a young, fun teacher this year (last year too) so that really helps.....
When i mean young..i mean that me DD looks older than some of the new teacher's at the school....
DD's english teacher was even a graduate of that MS and had dd's 7th grade eng teacher when she was there.

Jhalkias said:Hi Angie,
I understand that what Lisa was talking about was a serious situation with the threat of injury - I did not in any way mean to suggest it was not or downplay it. All of us hold the safety of our children paramount, and I would not allow my own child into an environment that I know is unsafe.
I was commenting more on where the discussion went from there - and the various variables and situations that parents and teachers and administrators and school board members must work together as a team to try and solve.
There are many more minor and solveable issues that people will not take the time to solve, because that is harder than just complaining.
Sorry if I raised any ire for anyone. My intent was to show that the vast majority of public school teachers, administrators, board members, etc., are good people, doing what I like to call "God's work" - helping educate the future. Too often they are all painted with the same broad and unfair brush of failure and contempt - and I was hearing a lot of that.

Thank you. Most of our employees are really very dedicated and believe in our mission. AND I just got a call saying meeting is planned for either 2 or 3 this afternoon. I should hear shortly which time.pyramid2000 said:Our veterans are blessed to have someone like you on their side.![]()

Alex just called, and he got his MCAT results (Medical School Entrance Exam). He had to pass this test (they get three tries) in order to keep his seat for the medical school and enter the medical school. And, BTW, it costs over $200 each time to take it.
This was his first try.
You have to score at least average on the MCAT to be admitted to the medical school - which is a score of 24 - at least 8 on each of three sections. 45 is perfect.
Alex got a 35!

Now he can relax through the rest of the year, and get decent grades without worrying about getting in to the med school next year. All this at just a little over 19 years old (most take it their junior year of college - at about age 21) - he is an amazing kid, and we are very proud of him.
Had to share with my closest friends!

I did not recognize the problem until we were well into the school year. Can't help with advice for this year, but I can assure you that there are many wonderful teachers in his future who hopefully will help you rebuild. I do know it is heartbreaking when we see our kids suffering.BuzzBoyMom said:Oh Angie - this is exactly my situation. He loves/loved school. HE would count the days of summer till school started back again. Now he cries to go to school. He is calling himself stupid and you can just see his frustration. I have to go above and beyond to try and build his self esteem...and this crazy teacher seems to think she is doing nothing wrong.
