I'd better go...I have some contractors coming to demo something on my machine...those techies wouldn't understand the Dis fascination.

They may think its that new DisBoard virus that keeps coming back. As much as you turn off the machine and close the internet, the forum keeps growing and out of control and can't be stopped.

Okay, I will get off my soap box now. I told you guys I can't write in single sentences. I have to write a book every time I post.

Missy

ps TGIF finally :Pinkbounc

Well, we all know that this subject is not something you can put into a single sentence. Good points to a seemingly common situation.

Now that would annoy me too but I suppose it is practice with printing at the same time - but who prints anyway these days.

I WISH that DS needed to work on his penmanship. I swear that child is such the perfectionist. Last night he came in here around 9 pm and said he was so tired but wasn't done writing his story out yet (using spelling words.) He had been working on it for a while & was almost done 15 minutes before so I asked him why not. He realized that he was writing on the wrong side of the notebook paper and erased it!!! Shoot me now! UGH! Even before he was a year old he would line things up across the floor....cars, blocks, even crayons when we took the cars away from him. :rolleyes1 If DD ever messed up his lines he would go ballistic. Now I see how he channels that today and it drives me nuts!

I couldn't realize why the ads started so early but this is the 1st year for no reason absentee ballots. a lot of people are voting absentee in order to avoid the lines in Nov. maybe the ads will start dying down now that all those people are done voting.

Around here alot of people use the early ballot voting. That starts about two weeks before the elections. The lines are worse for that than the actual voting though.

i had DD in the normal math in 6th grade and honors everything else. She ended up bored and had A's even with extra work. We switched her to honors math for 7th but then had to teach her a boatload of catch-up stuff that summer that the 6th grade honors class had learned.

She has algebra this year. Along with her 2nd year of Spanish (which she's getting HS credit for.) Haven't met the teachers yet but DD acts like she's doing ok.

That is fantastic! I don't know how they handle the honors program at the middle school here. Having an advanced class would be fantastic.

And the countdown is at 56 days until the cruise!!! :woohoo:

We actually will leave that Thursday night before so only 54 days until we are officially on vacation. I think I may try to take a ½ day off on Thursday to go home and try to take a nap. If we have the car loaded Wednesday night and ready to go then I can take a nap and pick up the kids and DH right at 4:30 as he gets off work and hit the road. I was actually thinking that maybe we could just eat dinner in the car rather than making a stop so we could make better time. Last year DD was too young to eat in the car but I think she could probably manage a decent meal now. ;)

I have started my packing lists and it is a little scary! I have so much stuff to bring and it just seems excessive. I really don’t want to over pack but I don’t want to be out in the ocean and not have the stuff I really need. My toiletry bag is just not going to fit everything I need. I end up brining my own personal pharmacy for every trip. I keep telling myself to just leave most of it at home but when you need infant Tylenol or Deslym for a cough you really need them. I hate to think of what they would charge on the ship!

I am trying to pack where I will do laundry once on the ship and where I can reuse some clothes especially for dinners but it still adds up. I feel like I need three outfits for each day. A casual outfit for the day, swim/beach/pool outfit and then dressier clothes for dinner and that is for each of us. Not to mention pirate costumes, goodies for the group, diapers/wipes, sippy cups, beach toys, adult and baby shampoos and soaps, necessary stuffed animals required for sleep, which take up a lot of room etc… AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! Someone HELP ME!!!!

I may run out to Target over my lunch break and pick up a few cruise items. I really need to get this stuff sorted out and start organizing everything. I think we can really put up the summer clothes now so I need to pick what to keep out for the cruise and get the rest of it put away. I also need to take inventory of the kid’s nicer clothes to make sure they have enough that will fit that they can wear to dinner.

I am looking forward to chat tonight but I may or may not be able to join you. I had the computer last Friday night so I am thinking DH wants a turn. :sad2: Maybe I will have to see how late the library is open so I can chat from there! :lmao:

It is nice to be able to have a discussion with everyone here about a topic that deeply affects us all where we can respect each other's input. :goodvibes

Well the parents in Samantha's class have come through. The fireman brought the firetruck to the school, next week the kids are walking over to the hospital for cardiac ultrasounds and one RX mom will be mixing fake pills......this was the first field trip permission form I have had to sign!! She's growing up!

One of the nurses came in and gave them surgical gloves, masks and bandaids and on the way home I look in the rearview mirror to see Samantha decked out in the mask and gloves and leaning over to administer bandaging Haley's leg. It was hilarious!

:goodvibes Kids are so cute at that age! They want to mimic everything. Both of my kids enjoyed the career weeks at their preschool.

Becka - can the kids use your shampoo for the week? That would eliminate bringing doubles. Also the sippy cups, I bought some Cinderella take 'em and toss 'em cups. I have the on the table to be packed but Haley does fine with a lidded cup and straw so I may leave them out. I am not sure yet. I can easily see myself bringing way too much stuff. I know I did last year!

OK - ONE more post before I go to bed - the phone just rang, and I have to share my own good news (usually when the phone rings at midnight it is not always good news . . .)

Alex just called, and he got his MCAT results (Medical School Entrance Exam). He had to pass this test (they get three tries) in order to keep his seat for the medical school and enter the medical school. And, BTW, it costs over $200 each time to take it.

This was his first try.

You have to score at least average on the MCAT to be admitted to the medical school - which is a score of 24 - at least 8 on each of three sections. 45 is perfect.

Alex got a 35!

Woohooo! :thumbsup2

Now he can relax through the rest of the year, and get decent grades without worrying about getting in to the med school next year. All this at just a little over 19 years old (most take it their junior year of college - at about age 21) - he is an amazing kid, and we are very proud of him.

Had to share with my closest friends!

John1

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: WOOHOO!!! Congrats to Alex! That is great news. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

DD and DS do not like water over their heads so I use that new shampoo that is easy rinse and it works so well and I don't have the big fights so I won't leave home without it! I have thought about using the new toilitries they provide you for DH and myself but I did that last time and that stuff was BAD. I am hesitant to rely for a week on something I have never tried.

DD does well with a cup and straw but she also makes a giant mess. :sad2: I am just going to bring 2 of the take and toss ones to have just in case. Especially for in the stateroom early in the morning or late at night.

I will get it all packed but it just seems crazy how much stuff we need for a week!
