Lisa - Please keep us updated on the school situation with you DD. I really am supporting you and the whole school family. I just know what it is like to be working in the school when this is going on. I am sure your daughters teacher has lost a lot of sleep over this issue and is sick about it.

Brandi, I appreciate the input and am sure that both of them are stressed out about this. She also had another rather stressful parent issue in the beginning of the year that has been taken care of now. It's so frustrating to hear your 6 yo come home & tell you what has happened that day. :(

Boohbahs are very freaky. I do not allow them on our tv. Mean mom.

My kids don't know what they are but they did discover the Doodlebops when we were in DC. OY! :rotfl: They were never allowed to watch the purple beast. Blue's Clues was much better. :thumbsup2

OMG!!!! GA spoiler alert!!!!!!!

Was that check made out to Issy and was it for 8,700,000.00?!?!?!?!?!?!

So...DD & the kids in her class have been instructed to run out into the hall way when the "bad kid" does something to threaten them. So far his favorite thing to do is pick up a chair and hold it above his head then throw it. I really don't want her in the same class with him but that would require me to take her away from her teachers & friends to go in another class & that would be stressful for both of us. She stopped crying in the mornings a couple weeks ago. I really do not want her to go thru that again. This is the same kid who threatened her & another girl that he was going to bring a knife to school & cut them. :(

Does this child have a medical condition or learning disability that could be causing his outburst?

Remember, pen is mightier than the sword....go to the district admin, then the community, newspapers, etc....embarassment will go along way. I don't have a problem making the school admin accountable...they take for granted that we are parents and are educated, the old school methods, back when they used to teach something in the schools....

I am just going to stay out of this whole discussion, because I don't want to be banned from this site.

I will only say that I strongly believe that "teaching" is still happening in the schools today.

So let me get this straight. There are about a dozen frightened 6 year olds watching 1 kid to see when they need to run out of the door so they won't get hit with a chair?

Perhaps he needs to be somewhere his attention can be directed in a positive manner. We have special needs classes that include kids with behavioral issues. They work with them until they can fully acclimate to the regular class structure. Do they not have these in NC?

There are a total of 21 other kids who need to run out of the classroom when this child picks of a chair or gets upset. :(

They had a BED class last year but do not this year. That is where these kids went.

Lisa you're the best. thanks for getting started on getting us linked on dining. I understand it is not confirmed yet but hopefully will be soon.

I have to ask-- Anyone else think something's not quite right with the Dancing With The Stars show? I've noticed the last few weeks they've been kicking off people who really can dance and they're leaving behind the people who can't! Jerry Springer and Sara Evans come to mind. Now I can see Jerry sticking around a while because even though he isn't the best dancer he's still trying and is VERY entertaining to watch, but Sara Evans??? She really is the worst dancer on the show yet she's NEVER even been in the bottom 2. What's up with that? I'm annoyed because the show doesn't seem to have anything to do with who can dance but rather who has the biggest fan base voting for them. :sad2:

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

As I said before, I think that this year's show has more well known stars who have big fan bases. Sara's is the country market. Jerry's is also his fan base. In the past there have only been a couple big stars.

We have none here. No ads on T.V., very few signs and those are for local races. No phone calls, nothing. I think the republican party should just pick who they want and skip the whole election thing. Oh wait, they do that already! We never even see 1 presidential ad.

You are kidding!?!?!? Wish it was like that around here!

Lisa, he sounds like my dad as a child. When my dad was little, he did long division in his head, so he would just write the answer down on the paper with no work. He thought it was a waste of time to write anything down like that when it was so simple. His teacher accused him of cheating and said no one could do long division in thier head. Well, this made him very angry so they got the principal and the teacher tried to prove that he had cheated by giving him long division problems to do in front of the principal. I bet that teacher felt so embarrased after dad did them all....

Tell DS that sometimes people are better at something than others and that he is just really good at math. Because he is so good at it, teachers might not understand how he is thinking and that's why they want him to write it down.

ROFL! I can totally see DS having to go thru this. OY! They have to write out 3 pencils + 4 pencils + 7 pencils. He just wants to do 3+4 or simply 7. :)
