Sarah's JR High pictures aren't until Oct 31. Apparently they do it on Halloween to dissuade the kids from dressing up.

I think dissuade is my word of the day! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Thought I'd say hello. I just finished a stretch of work and haven't been on in a few days. I noticed the talk about fund-raisers for school. My daughter's school doesn't do any fundraisers. They do a fundraising drive at the beginning of the school year where they ask for money and I much prefer writing a check to selling something. Also, in our state, up to $400 of education donation will come back to you on a tax credit for your state income tax. You can actually designate exactly where you want your money to go - the school orchestra, your child's teacher, new playground equipment, etc. I love it.

Lisa - I think you are right - they may do pics 2x per year. maybe I should buy one twin now and the other in the spring?

Why oh why do we need two sets of pics in a year? I always buy the smallest package and splurge on professional photos every 2nd or 3rd year for the family.

Funny Twin story. My exterminator has twins. I asked to see a photo so he handed me a wallet pouch with a photo of a little boy in it. It was just a little single serving size plastic pouch. So, I'm a little confused thinking. "They're twins, maybe he only carries one photo to represent both of them." Finally he rescues me and told me to turn the pouch over and there she was. The little boy's twin sister. Whew!

I'm watching Who's line is it anyway and they are singing a song about touching my banana OMG! :lmao:

Hey!! You fixed that before I posted!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to fill out a survey for our "strategic plan" for work. DH looked it over & told me I might want to scale back a little. We tried this a couple years ago and the staff was very honest about our boss and the agency. I don't think they will get the same response this time. A lot of the staff is hesitant to "put their neck out again". We are in a tough time as are all nonprofits. Our finances are not real good and we really need to get moving on finding ways to bring money in. I am not sure if this process will help turn us around or not. We get to meet with the board of directors and all staff on 10/26. should be a fun meeting.....not

If the parents of each child in our district donated $5 we could easily have over $15,000 without all of the hassle!

We always hear that people would rather write a check so we did this last year. We needed money to pay off the playground equipment and didn't have it. We didn't want to run another regular rundraiser. We asked for $10 per child. We only received $300 in donations...including one 100 check. We wont waste our time on that again.

Amanda already had her school pictures taken and got them yesterday. I can't wait until Dina goes to school next year. Another bad mommy thing for me. :rolleyes1

:) or will the future fiance's be mad if I can't produce them?
:)
yes they will;)!!! I made a year by year scrapbook highlighting my DH and My school pics etc. (This was prechildren!!!) His mom had very little info and pics!! I actually had stuff on him that she didn't have. Since we have known each other we were in pics from church or school together. It was frustrating. My parents were picture people. I am as well...being a scrapbooker. His mom had a disposable camera when we went to Disney last year...she took 4 shots!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can I just ask you all - is it unusual to have a school fundraiser, tshirt sale and school pictures all in the same month?

It's not even the money as much as the stress about getting all the paperwork filled out, checks written, paperwork returned etc.

sorry to vent.
:sad2: It's just the beginning! :sad2:

:) thanks John - I hate opening the backpack each night because a whole new batch of papers fall out. I think they should separate the schoolwork from the less important fundraiser info.

isn't the notion of school pictures, soccer pictures a bit outdated in the age of cell phones that take pictures. Who really needs a stiff picture of their child with a fake leaf background? or will the future fiance's be mad if I can't produce them?

duh - I think I am sounding jaded. BIG SMILE!!! :) :)
It's just tradition. Nice to have that collection when they are heading off to college.

We actually made over $8,000. We needed $15,000 to pay off new playground equipment and the PTA will work on the rest of the money over the year. All the kids decorated a paper shoe and for each $100 raised, a paper shoe was posted on the lawn of the school. By the end of the fundraiser, there were a lot of shoes on the lawn. I'm surprised people wouldn't donate. To me, buying wrapping paper and cookie dough is basically donating.
