I've not been on the boards much for the last couple of weeks. We've had some family health problems.

My DFIL was in the hospital to have gall bladder surgery...the morning he was to have the surgery they tried to wake him, he was unresponsive. He had had a stroke. They say he would not have survived if he had not been in the hospital when it happened. The doctors are still only giving him a 50% chance of survival.

They've kept him sedated since the stroke, and we will not no how much damage was done until he wakes. Right now they are weening him off of the sedation so we should no more in the next few days.

My DMIL is not totally able to take care of herself and he has been her primary caregiver for a while. So we have her at our home, and are going back and forth between here and the Hospital in Mississippi a lot.

Needless to say...it has been a tough couple of weeks, but we are getting by. We could definitely use your prayers and good vibes.

Mickey, our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for as long as you need. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Lisa - I think you are right - they may do pics 2x per year. maybe I should buy one twin now and the other in the spring?

we also have a book fair coming up. I have been drafted. I understand the PTA president removed a book set in a homeless shelter last year because she thought parents might object to its setting. ????

DH is a laundry junkie. I don't think he can go a whole week without doing some laundry. I have been saving quarters all year so we will be ready.
DrHug has his quarters, with good intentions, but I'm not sure he would know where to put them in the washer! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

That's it Kristina, coax more people to come! :thumbsup2 But how do I dissuade DH???

Mother always said i should be a lawyer :teeth: ... or in sales...

I would like to take some environmental law classes though once DD gets older.

I just couldn't give it the time and attention i would to right now(to get an A that is).

Where's Todd at? I have costume questions for him.

I directed choir tonight. Guess who had a mysterious sore throat and could not make it....you guess it...the current SS president. I knew this would be ugly...but I really thought she would try to be "big" about this...KWIM. She has been the president for over 10 years. I thought about calling her....but I have done nothing "wrong."
I wouldn't call. Just continue doing what you do and be cordial to her when you see her. ;)

so DH likes to do his wash as soon as it is dirty or he likes hanging in the laundry room - I mean who really likes laundry? maybe it's just the quarters he likes.

I do call the laundry room my office. Because everyone else has a desk or an office - why shouldn't I?

Ok, for DrHug because I mostly listen to talk radio on the way to and from work. Our early morning man makes me smile and our evening commute duo cracks me up.

DrHug
10 hours
Classic Rock - although he has most any type of music you can name except Rap - he like Celtic Bagpipes (Off Kilter being one of his fav groups), Native American music, early rock, country, Caribbean sounds, classical, jazz, blues, 40's swing, pop, on and on. Oh and of course the 5 cd set of Disney ;)

Thanks Angie! DD's finished her chores and gone to bed. Not too many more needed though.

:) thanks John - I hate opening the backpack each night because a whole new batch of papers fall out. I think they should separate the schoolwork from the less important fundraiser info.

isn't the notion of school pictures, soccer pictures a bit outdated in the age of cell phones that take pictures. Who really needs a stiff picture of their child with a fake leaf background? or will the future fiance's be mad if I can't produce them?

duh - I think I am sounding jaded. BIG SMILE!!! :) :)

Our elementary school started something a few years ago. They now have a "Thursday folder." In it are all important papers. Of course if anything urgent pops up they send it home on any day, but most things are only on Thursday.

This show about the 9 is pretty intense for just the first 30 minutes!
I was thinking the same thing. DH looks at it and says "oh another show for you to get hooked on". I tried to get back into ER but am switching back to GA. The stories on ER just don't interest me anymore.

I buy the fall pictures for both kids at least in the wallets for the kid's school books. They take the class pictures in the spring. I bought both of their 8x10s last year because they both looked so nice. In the long run, it's not very much.

The PTA president had no right to do that on her own.

all the purple Tide was gone from the store today!!!

I got absorbed in shopping at the Disney store sale and I had to call someone because I was going to be LATE to pick up the kids. LUckily she was going to school anyway to get her kids. UH oH. note to self - cut back on the Disney addiction.

bad mommie.

Not really. We also have the fall carnival this month & the book fair just ended. This is just a busy time of the year is all. Tshirts will be for sale all year long. School pictures will be taken in the spring too more than likely.

DD's middle school pretty much sends home magazine sale packet the first day of school. PTA does sell t-shirts beginning of the year. (but they do sell again pre-xmas.) Then they hold a fall festival for those who sold at least 3 items from the magazine sale. (that was just last friday) FF is a night with DJ, moonbounce, candy, games. (Good Supervised fun for the kids.)

School photos are the 10th. I saw the backgrounds and saw that one was a wall. I told DD she should dress punk with that background.

DD's answer =

Ok, that may beat me in the "forget the kids" department! ;)
