We usually do a quick once around with the neighborhood buddies and then go to a Harvest Party thing at church that the teenagers put on for the younger kids, it's like a carnival with lots of little games for tickets, prizes, candy, etc. Lots of sports games, pretend fishing thing, I think there is even a cakewalk. The kids love it and it keeps the teens busy too.
This year we might go to a zoo boo thing at a local Zoo with some of the boys' friends.
I really like to go somewhere because I can't stand handing out candy! It is fun at first when the neighborhood kids are out, but then by about 7:30 or so we start getting carloads of older kids that are not from the neighborhood. Why would you drive to a different neighborhood to get free candy? Some have parents with them, some are just older kids that can drive. We can turn out the lights but they still keep ringing the bell, they don't take hints well, lol.
Now that is funny! DrHug also LOVES toast as a nightime snack.brack said:I stopped for some toast a bit ago. One of my favorite nightime snacks.
Hmmmmm. Sounds like a challenge to me!Jhalkias said:I will probably regret saying this . . . but don't all of you go filling out the online application on our web site . . . I'm the one that has to read all of those.

Well, we did when kids GKS were small because we have NO neighborhood. We would go to a friend's house, I got to hand out candy and see all the cute little costumes and the kids got to go trick or treat.TanaL said:Why would you drive to a different neighborhood to get free candy? lillygator said:Halloween - I started pulling out the decorations last night. Previously we have always had a big party - for Samantha's birthday but there were no kids, just adults. I don't want to have the class over the age range and maturity levels and having all the parents there as well would just stress me out. Last year we did a big dinner party for our family at 1900 Park Fare and it was our cheapest party yet! This year we will be at the World 10/26-10/29 and then on Halloween night we will TOT and then race home to greet TOT'ers. All four of us dress up.
Several people have asked if we are having a party and I've said no and also some of the parents keep asking if Samantha is having a party. I just think it's too much. She is nto yet interested in having friends over and I would rather spend the money on WDW than on food, favors, etc that go to waste not to mention we need no more gifts/toys/clothes. It may sound selfish but throwing a great party is a lot of work! I am going to send in a cake and probably a craft activity for her class and they can celebrate there.
Still working on the costumes. I bid on one for Samantha this morning but it ends while I am here at work so I can't check or bid higher since my darn job blocks Ebay (the nerve). If I win I am hoping I can get a second one for Haley and then both girls can wear it for Halloween and pirate night.

I noticed how excited the students all got around halloween, I mean really excited. i mentioned this to the teacher and she told me that the children get more excited for halloween then for Christmas, because they know they will get something for halloween becasue they get it from other people and don't have to depend on their own parents. Ever since then, children coming from other areas don't bother me, in fact I often feel sorry for them that this is the one thing they look so forward to. And if they don't dress up, oh well they still get candy who cares it is less I have to eat!!!
