No new car. Bad. Yuck. Way too much stress....

I absolutely HATE buying cars too. One time, after 10 hours on the car lot dealing with a stubborn salesperson (long, boring story, but no, I couldn't leave because they conned us into signing papers, we were young and stupid) I broke down in tears. I was scaring all the other customers so I finally got my way. But the car we ended up with still ended up as a lemon and it was just the worst experience.

I bought a new car last month and it wasn't so bad. There wasn't a lot of haggling because we were paying cash, not financing, so it was basically "We can pay this much and nothing more." and finally got our way. It wasn't so bad this last time and I even got some "free" window tinting out of the deal. ;)

It also doesn't hurt that my dad was a car salesman a few years ago and told me a few tips.

I'm a Honda guy to!

I'm now driving a 06 civic, traded in my last accord with 250,000 miles! Traded in the accord before that with 240,000 miles!

I really like to get my money's worth out of a car :thumbsup2

OK, the port roast is in the crock pot! Pork Carnitas for dinner. Really easy......green chillis, onion, garlic, taco seasoning, 1 lb roast, and a cup of water. High for 6 hours and then shread the roast. Mix the liquid mixture with the shreaded pork then spoon onto tortillas. Top with sour cream, lettuce (if you are brave enough....we aren't eatting any green leaves until they figure this outbreak thing out), tomatoes, lime juice. Voila! :)

What did I miss? What outbreak? :confused3

I've heard that about Honda's. That if you can't squeeze out more than 200k miles out of one you're doing something wrong. :rotfl: I'm biased for Toyota's though. I hope I can squeeze that many miles out of it. Of course I don't drive very far so it may take me 40 years to get over 200k miles out of a car.

My neighbor sold her car to Car Max. She bought a new car a few months ago and the car dealer only wanted to give her $500 for her trade. Car Max gave her $1700!!! She didn't buy from them though, just sold her trade to them.

And Jodie, I am so glad you jumped right in! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc But did I read that this will not also serve as your honeymoon?? Where and when are you going??? Inquiring minds want to know. ;) :goodvibes

We are leaving Detroit on December 8th and staying the night at the Residance (sp) Inn, the the cruise, then.....DISNEY WORLD :goodvibes My sister is a DVC member and is putting us in a one bedroom at SS from December 16 - 22nd   I have December 6th - January 3rd off work :teeth: and we will be gone 14 nights!!!!!!!

Jodie, that sounds so nice!!!! What a wonderful honeymoon to top off a wonderful wedding!!!! I wish I could've done something like that but we just eloped. :bride:

Actually I was thinking about that this morning on the way to work.

Wouldn't it be fun to artificially inflate the bridal party for Jodi's wedding? If 100 or so of us went around with "Jody  DH2B" buttons on Wed and Thurs, EVERYONE on the ship would notice. They would be even better if we had the engagement photo on the button so other cruisers would know who we were talking about.

If anyone asks how we know them we could just say "Oh, we've known Jodi and whatshisname forever. We just had to be here for the wedding so we cashed out our IRA to pay for the trip."

All the other bridezilla's (I meant brides) would be so jealous that she is getting so much attention.

Perfect :thumbsup2

Just a facial and the noche azul massage. The nice thing is that you can use all their facilities even if you only get one little treatment done. In the past I've had days where I get one treatment and days where I get the full 5 hour day long pampering. But that get get expensive. I'm overdue on a massage b/c my very local massage therapist had to quit due to illness. I usuallly do regular massages with her every 5 weeks and then spa treatments as needed.

Hey Karen, i read a spot on the Hershey website where the give a special # to call to coord group spa treatments. They had a # for large groups and then had a # for groups under 10. (that'd be us.) I have a college friend that lives right down the road from Hershey who may be interested in going too. (She's a lighting designer who works from home so her schedule might allow her to get away on a weekday.) She's not a dis queen like us but is lots of fun. (She actually my DD's Godmother-in-law; ie married to dd's godfather)

I saw the use of facilities thing but wouldn't you have to use exercise room/pool prior to your treatment (cause if you did it afterwards it would offset that relaxation feeling.)

I was looking at either choc scrub and massage or one of the noche azul treatments. Their pedi/mani's seemed expensive. One of the salon places in Gaithersburg, Md does nails and pedi for $50 (their pedi chair is in a seperate room and there's tranquil music even).

Two comments:

1. An elopement sounds romantic too

2. She's going to need a honeymoon for Two after spending a week on a cruise with 15 family members and 160 Dis Board friends!

The ecoli outbreak that is across the country. It is in bagged spinach right now. They recalled it everywhere because they didn't know where it came from. I think that they have one of the comanies now but are still looking. They are also still looking for the original case. One of the earliest is last month...a little girl. :( Until they say this is it and nothing else is affected, I'm not touching anything green & leafy.

I've heard Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans are VERY reliable and can be driven past 100k miles but some people are against not buying American cars.

I'm all for american items..... However, after years of watching family members have issues with their F.ound O.n R.oad D.ead cars or the PoS Chevy's i've previously owned, I've become a convert. Adding to that, my Honda was assembled in the United States by americans and americans work in my dealership. Sure maybe certain componants come from overseas but that's true of ALL car manufactures now.

One thing that's great is that my Honda's have all held the value over time. (The Chevy Malibu we bought brand new was barely worth $2,500 after 5 yrs and that's for an EX with no excess mileage or wear-n-tear.) My civic was worth almost $12,000 trade-in after the three year lease we had. I would have kept it but it was almost time for tires/belts and such and i got a brand new one for same payment with no additional outlay.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! What an exciting day here!!! The bathroom downstairs has been cleaned! I scrubbed the window with a toothbrush because I realized that it was covered with hairspray spots...probably from the past 11 years!!! I have always just sprayed & wiped the window and they looked dirty from the outside. I guess that I saw it in just the right light. UGH! The second load of laundry is in the washer & the dryer is almost done. I have torn the family room apart. I even cleaned the tissues that wound up in the wheels of the computer chair somehow. UGH! UGH! UGH! The anticipation is building for the ironing pile...can you feel it? :lmao: I guess that I shouldn't put it off any longer. I can catch up on a couple soaps while I labor. See you....some time before the cruise.....
