Oh I had to share one more thing DD said. She was discussing playing during recess and the girls playing together with just the girls and the boys playing together - just boys.

"I play with both. The boys think I think like a boy because I mention racecars but they don't know that I am imagining princesses driving them and with the girls there is a monster in the castle I'm describing. I don't tell them though..."

Lisa - I find with my son that sometimes he wants to fit in so badly with the older boys that he misdirects his interest. Obviously I wouldn't let him hit anyone but he does crazy things to get their attention. It might be a case of this. Plus they get really revved up at the practices and it seems that behavior just goes out the window in the excitement. But that is why the coach is there. Men seem to have a different definition of allowable rough housing - in my experience - lol. I would be hopping up every few minutes and be all over it and the dads would just sit there and let it continue.

hope it all works out.

This kid was just out of control. I don't know that he did any of the drills at all with the other kids. When he wasn't hitting DS I saw him just running around the field. I feel badly for the other kids on his new team BUT that coach has his two DDs on that team and I am sure he wont let him get away with that nonsense. He is a really good with the kids but I would rather have the kid away from mine.

I had to sit both kids down and tell them that if anyone ever does that to them they can leave the group & come tell me if the coach isn't responding to them. They do NOT have to put up with being hit on.

What size to your kids wear? DD is in a 4/5 now and I have a complete wardrobe thru 8. IDK how much I have above that. I know that I have a big Target bag with some 10/12s in it. I pick up the basics for that like plain shorts, tshirts, and jean skirts. DS is in a 7/8 and I have thru size 10/12 for him with some larger things too.
I am in such a tricky size now. DD is an 8. Long legs. She can still wear a 6X shirt but never 6X pants. I never know. I went to 130 Hannas thinking those would be later this year and she is wearing them now.

I have to say that I feel a little superstitious about buying things that far ahead. I have bought a few size 8 items for Jaea that were just too good to pass up. But I think by that age she should really decide for herself what her style is.

I still do not get within several hundred yards of anything plaid because that is all my mother bought for us. OOOpss is that a freudian revelation? LOL.

I spend enough time managing their different seasonal boxes - Vanessa is lucky if she really doesn't have to do this. I don't want to accumulate more to deal with. I figure there will always be another bargain down the line - so I just hold out and buy only the real not to be passed up buys ;)

Elaine...nope I really don't have to do that....it gets cold here from Dec to maybe Mar and our cold to Northerners cold is probably questionable......the gilrs will wear jeans top and a jacket or sweater. For the most part though what's in the closet is in there year round. And I did score lots of those $2.99 suits - better than WM clearance!

it is good that you had that talk with them because sometimes I think the kids think that it is allowable if the adult doesn't put a stop to it. Soccer really should be fun and not stressful. We have 6pm practices and it is just too late. Jaea fell asleep in the car on the way home from the last one - she was exhausted.

I'm glad to hear the kids are mostly having fun though - it's a great sport.

is it me or why is WM clearance like taking a dollar off the original price. If they really want to move it out, cut the price!!! Kmart used to have really great sales but now they do the same thing. I don't consider $1. off a sale. LOL. I love 75% off. ;)

I was worried about DS turning around and hitting the kid back. :( He asked me why he kept doing it. DD told him that next time she will beat the bad kid up. OY BOY!

WM's clearance is a farse! :lmao:

I just saw a parenting magazine article about birthday party gifts and the average varies by part of the country but generally about $15. The cluster was between $10-20. with the extremes being higher and lower than that.

I have to give for my twins so we usually get a small gift and a small gift certificate. I give less if it isn't someone in the inner circle.

Angie - they may be responding to DGS ability to do well at the college/university level vs. a community college - and not focusing on the price issue.

The counselor we talked to today was very in favor of CC first. Looks like DGS will have half a year of college completed when he graduates HS, then one summer and one year in CC he should be able to get his AA. Then he will transfer to University. This counselor said some counselors think that the whole "college experience" is important. i.e. living on their own, socializing in dorms, etc. I am not sure that most 18 year olds are ready for all that responsibility and have seen many bright kids come home after flunking one or two semesters due to too much partying. Just depends on the kid I am sure. DGS thinks CC first sounds like his best plan. We did enjoy talking with his counselor though.

one of the hardest things about hubby being a redhead is shopping for him. There is a whole color palette that just isn't available to him. It narrows the spectrum a lot and he has lots of casual and business clothes that go together well - LOL.

Sales people are always trying to show me things that just won't work for him.

Kim - does your hubby have red hair too?

elaine

Yep! and my dad, and my grandma and so on and so on....
