Well, I found out on Friday that my eyes have gotten worse in two years. Before our 2004 cruise I got bifocals (the blended kind) when I started to have trouble reading. I made the mistake of taking them with me. I never put them on ONCE on the whole vacation (no time to read) and when we got home they were missing. They were only a 1.0 prescription, but I had gotten used to them. Since I paid $200 after insurance, I was too cheap to get new ones - I liked the ones I had so much.

I now ordered new ones and my prescription is now up to 1.5. My distance vision is almost 20/20, but reading without glasses is getting harder and harder. I did buy a cheap set of "cheaters" just for reading the last two years.

Getting old does have it's drawbacks . . .

One of our best IT guys sent e-mail today that his kids totally busted his glasses (ok his wife sent e-mail). The only place open today because of the holiday is sams club. He went in and they said it would take a week to get new ones. So he can't work for a week because he can't see. Keep at least one pair of old glasses is my motto. That and I wear contacts... so I have 20. My brother in law lost his on Splash mountain and his wife had to lead him around disneyworld blind as a bat. But he was in Anahiem and they had a 1 hour lense place and he got new glasses that day...

In addition to our grocery stores, we have four optical centers and a lab (yeah, I know, optical and groceries - how does that fit?). We've had those centers for over 40 years. We can do most lenses in an hour, or at least same day.

No one here. They probably should have driven to SLC but it is 1 1/2 hours away and I am sure they thought sams club would be faster....
