I actually volunteered my company to take over the website. We have an IT group dedicated to creating and maintaing e-commerce websites for profits and non profits. I told them I would do it for FREE and they said no. At the district they have a new IT guy and they are going to control everything. Meanwhile, I did get my excersise!

Kim

Can my school district take you up on it??? :rotfl2:

Our web site drives me crazy!

Of course, we have no money to dedicate to it, so we have the kids do it, along with any time the IT people can spare, when they are not chasing other problems. Being a "Mac-Centric" district, we don' have as many issues as PC districts, but the networking stuff still drives them crazy - and you can't keep good network engineers on a school district budget.

Our company website also drives me crazy! We also only have one IT person who runs around fixing things and no time to work on the website. The owner of our company - barely older than me, is almost entirely computer illiterate. He has someone else get his email for him, and does not even have a computer in his office. Meanwhile, his 84 year old uncle (who once did HR and Labor relations for the company) and I converse on email daily.

An IT department? What's that?

Let's let our little PC friends wonder about that one Bella. :rotfl2:

I wonder how many of our PC friends still use IE? If you do, you should consider switching to Firefox - I don't know what I would do without tabbed browsing, as I have several pages open at the same time on different tabs. IE won't do that until maybe IE7.

John1
I use a PC and I don't have a clue what IE is! What do you mean?

Ok these are the rumors from my apple education institutional rep, oy! The next iPod will more likely be coloured nano's, the cases. Yes, virginia there is a wide full face video iPod in the works, when it will come out, no one is saying.

All speculation Kim . . . I'm waiting for it before I buy a new iPod. My only iPod right now is a 2gb nano since my old 10gb died. I want a bigger screen and more dedication to video before I purchase! There were rumors of a new one at the WWDC, but it never materialized.

I am just HOPING it comes out before our cruise!

Are you listening STEVE??? I want a new iPOD!!!

John1
How do iPods work? Do you have to download things onto them?

It's so easy. You just plug it into your computer and you can automatically update or pick the songs you want on it.. Way easy. Easier than the scrapbook stuff. Sorry all, I am a paper gal on the scrapbook thing.. I like the texture.

I'm going to have to scan the papers for this . . . there is another chain that my PA friends probably know - GIANT EAGLE who has this policy. Did you hear it on something like Paul Harvey, or just on regular news?

John1
Just on our local morning talk show during the morning commute. Not nationally syndicated.

Now that's just mean... that you use it as a sleeping pill!

You should hear it! She has the most fluid voice, it's like hypnotism and the topic is painfully dull, so basically it just lulls you to sleep. Knitting podcast? Really? I even like knitting, but wow...

John, Brack, Pj others... When IS the new ipod coming out. I thought it was supposed to be june?

Kim
Ask pj she might have the scoop. Since WWDC was for the pros Apple Expo Paris in Sept might have consumer stuff. Apple Expo I personally wouldn't hold my breathe for there though after all of the laws France was trying to make re DRM and Jobs isn't making a Keynote appearance. Knowing Apple they just might hold a 'special event". I think it will be after all of the current deals ae over and I can't imagine they will miss the Holiday season.

I am counting on that...

I must say we have 3 really expensive Macs at work for the graphics people, but other than that, no one wants one... Are you both on a quest to change the PC world?

Our IT guy looks at me like I am speaking voodoo when I talk about my Mac . . . MOST IT people do NOT like things they are not comfortable with, or familiar with - more headaches for them.

I used to be more of a Mac "Evangelist" - now I am more resigned to the fact that some people just do NOT like change. I use a PC with Windoze XP at work, and I have XP loaded on a partition on this MacBook. Some software you can only get for a PC. But my day to day choice is my Mac.

So that is why I suggested firefox for PC to everyone. It is a MUCH better experience than IE. I've given up on changing you all to Macs - maybe some day you will see the light on your own.

BTW - NEW similarly equiped Mac Pro Towers (top of the line) are about $1,000 cheaper than a similar Dell!

BTW - if the price is incorrect and lower at our stores (unless it is regulated by law like beer and wine) we give the customer ONE item at the incorrect price and correct it. There's nothing wrong with correcting your legitimate mistake for a customer, and not causing them a hassle.

However, there are always those out there to "beat the system" - I still remember some lady coming up to the checkout back when we "priced" stuff with stickers with a cart FULL of cereal who demanded we give it to her at that price when an employee had made an obvious error. We gave her one - even though the shelf tag was correct - the employee had just forgot to reset their pricing gun.

Can't wait to hear the "rest of the story".

John1
According to the story, she has been doing this for months and takes home hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. Sounded like she had figured out a way to beat the system. It just happens so infrequently and you just get one item free that it seems she is doing something not quite right to get that much stuff consistently. I would love to hear the rest of the story if you get it too.

Me too...I love to layer the papers and add all kinds of cool embelishments!

Wow Pj, Veruca isn't singing in my ear. I don't have any interest in the colored nanos - how shocking. Now a wide full face video iPod hmm - well that is another story - there she goes.

Excuse me while I go change the humming to the ramification song.

Book
But now, my dears, we think you might
Be wondering—is it really right
That every single bit of blame
And all the scolding and the shame
Should fall upon Veruca Salt?
Is she the only one at fault?
For though she's spoiled, and dreadfully so,
A girl can't spoil herself, you know.

1971 film
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat,
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat.
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame.
You know exactly who's to blame:
The mother and the father.

2005 film
Veruca Salt, the little brute,
Has just gone down the garbage chute,
And she will meet, as she descends,
A rather different set of friends!
A rather different set of friends!
A rather different set of friends!

Hmmmmm Brandi, where to start . . .

An iPod is a device for storing music and/or video content that you can play back on the device. So, first, you DO download of "rip" the content to your PC (and yes, you can use iTunes on a PC, free download or comes with an iPod).

Your audio/video library resides on your PC, and when you plug your iPod into your USB port, iTunes automatically updates it with the new or added content based on the settings that you determine.

Does that help?

Vista IE flaws So much for 7. Granted it's still beta but you won't see me using it on my PC.
