Thanks to all for the explanations! I knew it had something to do with hitting the next 100 or 1000 (or 10000) mark, but I thought that the "pirate" was the person who snuck in and stole the "honor" from someone else. But then, it seemed like it was a good thing, so I was .

I'm going for the Rebel XT. Rumors that there may be another Canon rebate soon, so I'm holding off. Also need to hear back from Sigma that they could upgrade my old lens, because that will affect my decision about any other lenses, too. Then to get the upgraded iPhoto, too...
Still need to get to a real photo store to try out some of these macro lenses for DH and find out what will work.

Marielle - do you NOT have iPhoto '06? It runs MUCH faster than '05, and much, much faster on my Intel Macbook!

I would wait for the rebates too - esp around holiday time unless you REALLY need it now.

BTW - if all keeps going well, DS will be entering medical school next fall (he is in a 6yr BS/MD program here at NEOUCOM in NE Ohio). Too bad he will not be cruising with us this year again due to school . . . I bet he would enjoy talking to your DH.

No, I got this PowerBook G4 last December (everyone knew the new ones would be coming, but a date hadn't been announced, and I decided to get the last of the old ones). Haven't had a problem with iPhoto because my photo files are small (PowerShot A20, a 2.1 mp!!).

Rumors are about rebates or even lower prices soon; Canon may have a new product announced (only rumors on the web now).

Does your DS know what kind of medicine already? I think DH has always had the surgeon mindset.

You are right in all of the above, the 100s, but the 1000s are of course much more valuable booty and the 10,000...oh my goodness those happen so rarely. And yes, it is fun to sneak in there and the honor! And it is a good thing. Silly, but fun.

Hi All! I have meetings every night until 9, but tommorow night I get WICKED! Yea! John, I kind of thought they might offer water when you first get on, but no, it's just like it was before. I think this will be especially hard for Children who do not run on the same food and drink schedule as the flight attendants. I always carry snacks and water for DD on the long flights... Now I don't really know what to do.

I made it to the American Girl Store in the 1 hour I had for break today. They have some really fun hair stuff for the dolls. Those of you with little girls, and John I know your DD has one, they have little rollers and little spray bottles and little clips to do thier hair now. CUTE!

I just watched United 93. I am such a ball baby! Especially on steriods, I just kept crying. Not a movie I wanted to know the ending of before it started....

Today I heard the most AMAZING story. A friend on the board has a houseboat in California. She rented it out to a really nice older lady for 3 months while she was somewhere else. Her neighbors started calling her about 3 weeks later because the police had been thier a lot. She went back to discover the grandma lady had made it a bordello. She even had a web site with my friends houseboat on it and pictures, bad ones. My friend had to buy all new furniture and carpeting. Can you imagine?

I didn't even go to work today. I just stayed home with DrHug, he was off today. I think I really have short timeritis really, really bad. A year and a half to go to retirement, over 600 hours of sick leave that I loose if they are not used......hmmmm sounds like a few mental health days to me.

That sounds to me like more than a few mental health days!

I would stay around and help but I need to tuck DD into bed. I know it's childish for her but we enjoy the quiet time together.

I don't think it is at all childish. It think it is very nice. When I was her age my Ddad would tuck me in. That lasted until I was pretty darn old. I really liked it. I plan on tucking my kids in until they move out!
