I love the last morning, it is a great time to take photos of the ship all empty. Of course getting up at 6 am for Customs helps, lol.

Pj

I got up and walked around too - had to return the extension cord for my cpap machine to the desk. Funny how quiet and lifeless the ship seemed that early in the morning on disembarkation day. Like no one wanted to get up and face the return to reality. I am both sad to be back, and happy to be "back home" again.

These are fully armed guards with rifles.

I think even knowing about this it will make me feel uneasy when we're there. I'm not a fan of big guns.

Kim,

Sophia asks those kinds of questions too - asks a lot about death, war, and bad people. But with the army guys at the port, one approach is to ignore them with your DD, and if she notices, then tell her they are there to protect the people from any bad people. Sophia didn't even notice them - I DID, and they made me uncomfortable wondering just WHY they had to have such weaponry at the pier?

With Sophia, it is more what she thinks about, and worries about. My MIL always worries about abduction, and stuff like that, so she has instilled a fear in Sophia of those things. Caution is healthy, but for two weeks after that Sophia was terrified that some bad man would come into our house and take her!

We as parents have enough to worry about our kids these days without the constant fear propogated out there by everyone.

John1

Thanks John! I am going to go with your suggestion. If Sophia did not notice it then maybe DD won't and all the better. If she does, we will deal with it then. I hate scaring her to death, but I don't want her to freak out either... Hopefully she will be so entranced by the other kid princesses she won't even notice!

Have to tell you all I might be in serious trouble here with the diet thing. We just got our first Starbucks today! Previously I have only been purchasing in airports, but I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the blackberry green tea frappachino. Oh my! Maybe I will have offer myself an extra spa treatment if I can stay away from that stuff. Man, do they put drugs in those things?

Kim

I love the strawberry and cream frappucino but I gave them up a year ago when I went on a diet. Anyway, about a month ago I was craving one desperately so I had the bright idea to blend a strawberry and cream Slim Fast with some ice, thinking it would be good enough. It was nasty, I poured it out. BAD idea. :rotfl2:

Hey Todd - what is it like at the port now? I remember our first time after 9/11 it was REALLY evident with BIG guns, and lots of soldiers. The last time we were there, I don't remember it being nearly so evident. Just more like normal security.

You have to tell me why the couples is so great. DH doesn't want to do one because I like to hear the massage person talk all the time and he doesn't. He also doesn't want to feel obligated to talk to me. ha ha

Kim
We don't talk during our massages. We like the couples because we are "joined at the hip" and do literally everything together that we can. We are weird, I know. We did separate massages first time, but the one not getting the massage "didn't know what to do" without the other. So, by doing the couples neither of us is left on their own.

LOL... I'm worse, I watch the live feeds a lot. I don't think I'll do it again next season though. Watching the feeds makes the show seem outdated. Like someone has already won veto, someone has been evicted, a new HOH has taken over, 2 new people are on the block and veto for them is tonight... so watching tomorrow's show will just rehash everything that took place days ago. I get so confused.

Yes, but watching the yelling that happened at the eviction is going to be good! :rotfl2:

You know, it is hard to keep the kids feeling safe at all. I have always let them watch the stories about the children who have been abducted so that they will know why I insist on them staying with me...especially DD. :( I have tried to keep the stories about the kids being taken out of their own homes out of their site though. They need to feel safe somewhere. With the Jon Benet case in the news again this is bound to come up.

Amy, I am hoping you are right. DD seems to ask a lot of question about the war. The other day we were listening to President Bush on the radio and he said "we live in dangerous times". DD said, "Do we live in dangerous times?" This was the day of the arrest of the terrorists, so I turned off the radio and we talked about the war and how scary that would be to live over there... I can't tell if I am being overprotective or she is just inquisitive.

Kim

With as much as I watch the news, you know that Sophia sees alot of things. She too asks lots of questions and is well aware of the war and what is going on in the world. I let her know what is trying to be accomplished and that in fact people do die. In fact we had a soldier from our town killed in the war and she was very curious about the flags that were up and everything. So I took her by the cemetary and explained that he was living in heaven now.

I think as parents we try to be protective, but we have to let our children see the world for what it is or when they do grow up it will be so shocking they won't know what to do. I'm not saying don't sheild them from some things, but I know for us, we want Sophia to not be afraid of the world and people different from herself and to know that others are not as lucky as she is.

Not that we always succeed..... on the last cruise Sophia didn't really like the clubs... she said she was afraid!! Oh well, she is a work in progress!

It wasn't easy when DS realized what war was while we were in DC and that his friend's dad had probably killed people and someone had tried to kill him but he is now able to talk about things with another level of understanding. He has a different appreciation for the military and policemen as well.

I, on the othe hand, watch Mythbusters, cartoons, and slapstick comedy!

:rotfl2:

Therefore, Sophia has balance, Fox news, and the Three Stooges - come to think of it, those may be more similar than I thought! :lmao:

We get that because everytime something happens people here reference the elizabeth smart case... Scary!

Time for this Stooge to go to bed before he gets banned!

I need to go in to the office for awhile tomorrow, so good night all!

Into the office on Sunday? Sorry! Many grocery stores here are closed on Sunday. Kind of nice for the employees.

The only place closed on Sunday around her is Chick Fil A.

My kitchen is closed on Sunday. Of course it's closed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday also!
