I'm getting very tired of work. I want to go home,rest, swim and then do some grocery shopping for my guests. I hate this mid Friday aftenoon lull. I can't seem to focus on work.

Oh - and I just had an employee get a promotion elsewhere so now I get to do my first hiring action. Ugh?!! Think one of my interview questions should be "Have you ever heard of the Dis boads?"

I don't know how you guys do it all... not to give you a visual... but the baby always ends up crying when I am reading up on posts... so I latch her on and keep on reading.

I have no life... and its such a challenge having one on here too...

I can't wait till we all get together... it's so much easier that way.

Oh yeah, I'm another Christmas week baby. Thank you to all who recognize that you DO NOT use wrapping paper from Christmas (or seasonal holiday celebration of your choice) on birthday gifts. You also do not give part of the gift for Christmas (or seasonal holiday of your choice) and the matching item/accessory for the birthday.

But then again, I'm with Karen and not usually one to feel like celebrating birthdays!

DD is a mid December baby 12/15 and we usually give her a special party rather than gifts. It works out great for her because the pre Christmas tension is broken up a bit. Her parties are usually well attended. I think it's because the other parents see "Child Free Shopping Day" and jump right on it.

The only real conflict is when she gets something for a birthday gift that she would have gotten for Christmas. I have to send a quick Email to Santa to be sure it all gets straightend out.

Other than that birthdays are NBD at our house. Just a simple gift and whatever the BD person wants to do for dinner.

This year the cruise is her special party. All of you are invited (no gifts please) but she requests NO SINGING!

I think it will be an evening of wine and whine!!! What a week. Have I mentioned that you guys are my relief in this stressful place?

I've always cleaned before someone comes over, but this weekend I'm taking a different approach. My brother, his wife and 4 kids are coming over this weekend....I'm cleaning AFTER they leave. It never fails that they simply don't pick up or take care of my house, so why have it clean for them to trash in a mere 5 minutes. I'm gonna do a quick wipe down and run a vacuum, but other than that...NOPE!

This is the same family that never has food in the fridge when we are visiting. I, on the other hand, have all kinds of snacks, variety for breakfasts, etc. Guess my DSIL didn't learn any general hospitality skills. I've often sat hungry at her house while my kids are telling me they are hungry and she never even gets up to offer them a piece of butter bread.
