Probably not. And, Mom probably won't want me tying up her computer all the time. So, I'll just fade into the background.

It looks like we have lots of musicians around here. I started playing the clarinet in the summer before 5th grade and I continued throughout college. I loved it and I was the quintessential band geek. I never knew how cool I was until I saw American Pie! :rotfl: My poor DH was rolling in the aisles during that movie! He has had to listen to way too many stories that started with “This one time at band camp…” from a redhead!

I also played flute starting in 7th grade and I self taught myself some very basic piano with a little keyboard my parents got me for Christmas one year. I did take one semester of beginning piano in college and I loved it. I keep thinking we should get a piano and I should start taking lessons plus I really hope that my kids would want to learn to play. However the call of another Disney trip always seems to win out.

Both of my kids are well on their way to being music lovers and I really hope to encourage that to continue. I hope they will continue a great band tradition. I think I will be sad if I do not get to be a marching band booster Mom! DS really seems to love the idea of drums and unlike most parents I am thrilled. I can totally see him as a percussionist and I don’t even think I would mind the noise most of the time.

I probably would have majored in music if it was not for the fact that I was concerned I would never get a job. I loved performing but I was not good enough to do that for a living. I also didn’t think I could be a music teacher because I CANNOT sing although that does not stop me from trying in private. ;) You guys should really be thankful that sound does not travel on the DIS boards! There are probably not many sounds worse than me trying my best to sing along with Bon Jovi! :rotfl:

No, don't do that Patsy!! Then we will have to work too hard to get you back out of your shell on the cruise!

I keep telling DD that the most fun I had in High School was with the band but she is not buying it.

DH has been tripping on the American Pie series since it came out and telling everyone he married a Band Geek. (Sorry, Kim, I couldn't help myself.)

FYI, My "talents" were nowhere near yours and the others on this thread. All I really did was provide a warm body in the band.

No problem there, I'll be too wound up and exited to be in a shell.

I loved being a band geek in HS. It was an easy A then and it was also an easy class to skip at the end of the day. :ssst: I switched from flute to oboe senior year and we had a new band teacher. You would think that he would have noticed I wasn't there most days since I was the only one! :rotfl2:

You little :stir: . I knew I liked you!

Why am I not suprised at the number of band geeks on this thread? ;) I guess some of us never outgrow our band "geekiness". Once a band geek always a band geek - even when you no longer have a band! :rotfl:

We should also take a survey of Fraternities and Sororities.

I am Delta Gamma.

Wow , My cable goes out for a day and you guys blow the computer up ...at this rate I think we will be way over 15000 posts by the time we actually make it to the ship ... :thumbsup2

I think with all the   we may need to get Kim a  Hammack :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :happytv:

Maybe I can have the wife stop by Chipendales and ask to borrow one :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Couldnt resist ...

Lisa where do we stand on the iron on since I lost a complete day ???

Am I going to have to start talking to myself again? I'm starting to get a complex. :guilty:

No theater or athletics. No sorority – my school did not have them.

Here is the high school resume (in all its embarrassing glory):

*Band (marching, concert, pep, etc..) – If there was a band I was a member LOL!
*National Honor Society
*Features Editor for the School Paper
*Students Against Drunk Driving
*Student Government Committee Work (prom committees, project graduation, homecoming, etc.)
*Quiz Bowl
*Interscholastic League - competed in Accounting

I am sure I am leaving out a few things. I managed to stay busy in high school. All of that and I still had the time to be boy crazy! :rotfl:

No, wait! I do have company for lunch!

Thanks for the report V!

When you were a cheerleader was it considered a sport or an activity? Not trying to be rude, I'm just wondering when the transition took place. In my HS the cheerleaders were more dancers and fundraisers than gymnists.

I lettered in it so - a sport....we were required to do standing back tucks, back handsprings etc....

That's quite an accomplishment! You sound like one smart cookie!
I was Delta Gamma in College. My HS didn't have Sororities either.

Yup, that's a sport. Like I said our Cheerleaders were mostly just dancers.
