Good morning cruisers!

Angie and Dennis -- my co-worker here has a Netflix movie that reminded me of you... It's called "The Long Long Trailer" starring Luci and Desi Arnaz.... about them going around the country in a motorhome.... :)

Hope all is well with everyone! Nick and Sarah are having their birthday parties this weekend so it's a bit crazy.... We flipped our solar on Monday and the kids hit the pool for the first time on Tuesday. They are loving it... it's no Castaway Cay though... hmmm, maybe I should truck in some sand for the area behind the pool :rolleyes1

John, I know your job has been personally painful for you this past year with the layoffs of good people that you care about. A change might be just what you need. We will put you in our prayers for guidance and strength. I don't know about hospitals though. You know a VA in CA removed the wrong, um, um..."boy" a month or so ago. :scared1: The patient had cancer in one, um...boy. So they then had to remove the other because of the cancer. I would NOT want to defend that! I was just so, so glad it was not at our hospital. :sad2: A public affairs nightmare right now in the current political climate.

The position they advertised for is not a litigation position. It is an analysis and negotiation position. Dealing more with contracts and legal healthcare compliance. I really would not want to be a malpractice defense litigator!

:rotfl2: :lmao: I love that movie! Ijust hope it turns out better for us! Actually, I love all of Lucy's stuff. She was a "serious" actress before their TV series, but also did a bit of comedy and was really quite beautiful.

Whew! Ok, that sounds way better. :thumbsup2 I think about the poor attorneys that work with us.

Um, Lisa. I think you said this same thing last year. :sad2: I think you are just too giving of a person and cannot say no for more than a week. Next time they ask you to do something and you even give it a thought tell them you will have to get back to them and then come here and ask your friends about it first! ;)

Why is it that everyone says that? ;) Honestly if I can get the kids into another school...I wont be doing anything at this one again. :thumbsup2

Another crazy day here. I didn't spend it all at the book fair afterall. William woke up feeling ill but that is a side effect of both meds that he got last night. He was coughing nonstop so I took him to the urgent care. I was right...it was allergies. His glands were so inflamed that they gave him prednisolone sodium. He also got tylenol with codine. He slept for a couple hours, then woke up & was bouncing off the walls & did his homework until 10:30 last night. OY BOY! OY BOY!!! Anyhow he went to school & was having a good day until lunch when he felt sick again. His temp was 100.9 so I brought him home. He hasn't eaten much at all today but has been drinking lots of water. I just went up to bed after taking a dose of just the steroids. I have no idea what I am going to do tomorrow. He has missed the 15 days of school allowed this year. I guess that if he still has a temp tomorrow I need to take him in & talk to the principal. :(

Well, the conversation will basically go like this......My child is ill with a temperature and being treated with steroids for terrible allergies at the moment. Does he need to be present in school today so that he doesn't exceed the 15 day maximum in the school's policy manual and have to have his records reviewed by the school board to determine if he will advance to third grade next year?

Had a busy day today... Trey had to leave early in the morning for a heart transplant ... which was wonderful for that family, but really didn't help my plans for the day! It was First Communion at our church, and I teach the second grade class, so I had to be there for the big day. Elizabeth has been in Virginia on a field trip since Wednesday, so she couldn't babysit her brother and sister. Who can you call when you need someone to watch your kids at 8am!!??? My first call was to my fellow teacher, and her daughter was available. Whew! Our first communion Mass was beautiful, and then we had two parties to attend... then picked up Elizabeth who had just finished the bus trip home. Got home at 5:30, same time as Trey, and some neighbors asked Elizabeth to babysit their boys... turned into 3 couples going out for dinner, and Elizabeth sitting for all the kids (six, ages 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 9!) What a wild day.

How wonderful that Trey can do that, it's great that you have the support of friends to help out! If I were there, you could call me at 8, I'd take Walt any time!

Well guys, on a bit of a whim I sent out a resume last night online to a local hospital that is looking for a staff attorney. While my experience is not exactly what they wanted, I think I'm still a pretty quick study.

After 20 years in retail, I have been thinking it may be time for a change. While I always thought I would spend my entire career at one company, competition and the last year has made this job really difficult, and not so much fun anymore.

You guys are aware of that saga.

With Dad not as well as he used to be, and mom gone, there is honestly not much that would really even keep me here if anything happened to dad and a good opportunity opened up elsewhere, even if it meant relocating. While I know a lot of people in the community, some of my best friends are right here with you guys, who have no other expectations and where I can be more myself.

:grouphug:
Well, if you want to relocate, say the word, we will meet you in MAUI!

Well, this part of the 10% isn't doing another thing at the school after this week. :thumbsup2 I am in charge of teacher appreciation week also...which is this week too. I have been approached asking what I am doing at the BBQ next Tuesday....I'm not going to be there. Will I proctor for the EOG tests the following week for 3 days....NO!!!! :thumbsup2

Teacher Appreciation is this week and the big day is tommorow. I have 5 moms and we are taking the class for 2 hours so the teachers can go to lunch together.

Our principal has been so great about Savannah! I asked him about missing school for the ice show and he said, she is doing fine, don't even worry about it. It is a great experience for her. HE IS SO GREAT!!!

Oh and John, hates no child left behind.

Aww, thanks. That's what I should have done that morning... just logged onto the thread, and told Hannah and Walt to post every few minutes and someone would be checking up on them online.... DIS Geek virtual sitters!!

Catching up on all of the threads has been fun! Good to see Dennis checking in!
Lisa, step away from the school... (yeah, this is coming from the mom who spent way too many hours last week handling school carnival tasks)... hope William feels better soon.
John1, good luck with finding something new on the job front. I think a change of scenery can be a very good thing (of course, if the change of scenery includes a view of Castaway Cay, it's a very very good thing.)

I really like your philosophy, Marielle.:thumbsup2

Did you see I took a bit of a whipping from someone on our new thread about that. The first parent I have come across who feels that way.

Do you need us to educate them on that topic, John? ;)

Nah, it's OK Lisa. She is a special situation, because she has a handicapped child that needed more - there are real stories out there like that.

Thanks for the offer though.

Almost came over in chat -assume you guys were there, but I kind of feel like a 5th wheel there now.
