Karen - skip the floors in your clean up. All of those people will just make them dirty anyway! Enjoy the day. This is a big day in the life of your son! Enjoy!

I'm going to apply for a different position at work. Way less stressful, but some drawbacks too. The biggest is having to work 5 8 hr days. I work 4 10s now and LOVE my Fridays off, but things have gone from bad to bad to worse as far as the stress level in my current position. So.... Need some Pixie Dust!

Life is way too short to let stress shorten it any more at all!

Here is your pixie dust from the Dodd family ....... pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Does anyone else love Boston Legal? I think it is a great show!!!

I haven't seen many of the shows since it started but I do like Shatner's character.

A new show that I just started to watch is "House". I think that I want to be like him :thumbsup2 but I am really more like "Monk". :lmao:

General survey,
How many of you are into pin collecting? Mild? Medium? Fanatic?

Have a great day!

Fanatic .... unfortunately.

I'm glad you asked if we are into pin collecting and not trading because I tend to want to keep every pin I get! I have traded some pins when I could buy multiples of pins from the Disney Outlet for a good price. I did this a couple of cruises ago.
:thumbsup2

Dennis is a "mild collector". Meaning he buys (has a BIG bag for those too!) but does not do alot of trading. He buys ones he likes and then can't part with them. He has done some trading with CMs using some of the duplicate "freebies" we get from DVC, etc.

I knew there was some reason Dennis and I hit it off so well .... we are a lot alike! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Collector, not trader here. I have all the special pins from the first Pin Cruise (it was the pins that got us to cruise and it was the magic of the Cruise that brought us back to DCL again and again.) My favorite is the ship in the bottle pin. Now I collect DVC and AP limited editions and some chip and dale pins.

Penny

The kids both love to trade pins. DS collects lanyard pins & DD likes the Princess pins. I give them both 15-20 pins that I get on sale thru DD.com at $2 or so each. MUCH cheaper than buying them & they have a challenge during the cruise. :) I buy one pin for each cruise from DCL & one for CC. If we go to WDW I get one from there too. :)

Jordan, you stopped at 3396?? :confused3
It would've been a little self indulgent to post that many in a row. Not that I haven't before....but...we've got 7 months still. It'll be fierce when we hit 10,000.....

Got some spare time again tonight, finally. We lost our school levy for the third time last night. We are now going to have to institute pay to participate ($250) for each sport or activity like speech at the High school, and other cuts. School funding in Ohio is a MESS.

Watching the Cavaliers, who are now winning with three minutes to go.

I have bags and bags of pins. Amy keeps asking me why I buy them, when after we get home, they just stay in the bags (no time to do anything with them). I too cannot trade anything I buy. Maybe I will buy some like you guys do on sale and then trade them.

BTW, we are counting down . . . we leave for WDW on the 18th, staying 6 nights at OKW, then 4 nights at VB, then back to OKW for 2 nights before coming back home. Really looking forward to VB since we have never been there.

Hope everyone is doing well, good luck in your new job Angie!

John

Have a great time John....wear lots of sunscreen...already looks pretty hot down there. At least it's not hurricane season yet.

Cavs now in OT - Man, why is it never easy in Cleveland?

Yes, plenty of sunscreen Jordan!

John

Cavaliers WIN! OT! LeBron puts it in in OT with 3.6 seconds left, down by 1 to win the game! Cavs up 3-2 heading back to DC.

John

John - have a great trip. I am sorry to hear about the school funding. That really stinks! What about kids (parents) that can't afford the $250? I live in PA but I teach at a school about 35 min from home. We have a lot of families that could never afford that! We have some that can't afford the $7.00 party money at the beginning of the year!

Today is a "big day" in my life as a mother. Since Eliza was born I have never gone anywhere (other than parents or inlaws) alone with both kids. Today I am taking Eliza to the doctor and doing some shopping. This will be my first outing with both children alone. You are probably laughing but anyway....I am a little nervous. I just hope that Jake is on his best behavior. He is usually an excellent kid to take off, let's hope he is today!

Karen, the way to handle the "mob" at your house (from one who has just about that same amount every Thanksgiving for a sit down dinner at my house) is to make a list for food (make sure you have enough - a full crowd is a happy crowd), don't worry too much about the cleaning as it will be a total mess when they leave (knock down the cobwebs!), and relax and enjoy the day yourself! If the hostess is having a great time the guest will too. :goodvibes

Gosh - full stomachs?!!!! I was going the alcohol route!!! Figured if they are drinking they won't notice the dirt.

But thanks for that great advice!

I am currently the "complaint department" for 45,000 veterans who get their medical care in a completely disfunctional medical center. The position I applied for this morning is coordinator for the Voluntary Service...working with vets (many WWII and Korea - Love 'em) who are here volunteering because they WANT to be here. I really look forward to the change of pace - if I'm selected of course. There will be lots of competition for this job I am sure.

Angie - I had a feeling you worked for the government. I work for Navy as civilian. I admire you're love of those military men and women. They really are a great group!

Best wishes on the job.

I remember those days well. I too was nervous.

Here's hoping you all have a great time and the kids behave for you. Just remember that we have all been there. Stressful...but don't let it get to you.
