At least THAT got taken care of Lisa! We are lucky to have 4 elemamntary schools, two grades in each, seperate busing and everything. I at first thought it was a waste with 4 principles, etc, but it is less to worry about without having the younger kids with the older ones.
As for the other, it is hard to get a true picture of what happened because schools are so different. Do they give you a report on things each week? That would be great because then you can see these things much easier. Conduct and misspelling? Don't see the conection
. Did she explain it? It is hard when you have a child who is "ahead" of others. They do teach to the middle. Our district has an enrichment program that seems to be starting earlier and earlier (thank goodness). Oldest DD it didn't start until 4th grade, now it is 3rd nd they are talking about starting it a little earlier. Right now her whole class (6th) is enrichment, but 3rd and 4th are back to pull out. My opinion is to teach at the child's level. I would rather if my child was a little "behind" or needed more time to grasp the concepts correctly to have them in a class where this were possible instead of having to move with the flow and get behind.
DD's problem isn't getting bored with the work or anything. Actually she doesn't have any problems in her eyes. MY problem is that I don't think she gets enough homework (she get LUCKY with getting the teachers who don't give much). I even asked them to give more because I am afraid of what will happen next year in JH when they get bombarded with it! She doesn't know how to "study" very well as she has never really had to up to this point. Even with an enrichment program she hasn't been "challenged" very much, other than in writing, which she loves. She does get some challenge in math, but not enough IMHO. It seems schools are afraid to push to hard. The other problem is they put too many kids in enrichment. Her teacher last year said that she could easily divide her class even further! Just because kids get good testing scores doesn't mean they are ready for the next level yet. KWIM? Sorry for the rambling....
We all have our school issues!
