So, are we going to have a Survivor party on the thread this week? I can't believe that it is almost over with already. :cool1:

Off to pick up the kids! The fun begins in 30 minutes!!!! LOL!

LOL! Worse yet....he could get tickets for the kids too! We don't have any sports teams near us so we don't have to go thru that. I remember going to the Tide's games when I was younger...the Met's AAA team. DH & I went to a VT football game before the kids came along and that was fun because we enjoy watching the games on TV together. I would never try to take the kids. DD is always having to run to the bathroom. I would miss a major play that way.

DD gets to go about once or twice a year. Saturday they all went to a Ga Tech Baseball game together. I was invited but declined to get some quilt work done. She has been invited more often now that she understands the games and she can go to the bathroom by herself.

Okay...I hate to to say this, but I am going to have to cancel this cruise. I am bummed because I made some good friends on the 12/10 cruise last year. However, due to financial constraints, I had to make some tough decisions and the cruise was a casualty. FYI, I am not foregoing the cruise to buy Ducks season tix either. I am so sad...I really do need a vacation now and can't imagine not going this year. I know I am going to WDW sometime in '07....... :guilty:

I will check in from time to time to see how you are all doing.

Angie and Dennis I still hope to see you at the end of this month.

Hang in there Jordan! Maybe you can save up and come on the 12/15/07 cruise with us! I know it is a long ways away, but still it is something. We could have a beer in Diversions again. :)

Jordan,

So sorry that you are not joining us . . . I hope better fortune comes your way, and that things turn around for you soon. They keep talking about this wonderful economic recovery - I can tell you that it has not come to NE Ohio. Things are tough for the company I work for, and with the onslaught of WalMart, things have gotten even tougher. Things can get tight for us too, so I know where you are coming from. With one in college, one in school, and the price of gas, I feel like I need three incomes instead of two! If not for our DVC, we would not be going to WDW next week, I can tell you that! Between our DVC and the Wendy's cups for airfare, this is going to be a relatively inexpensive vacation for us.

I'll take a raincheck on that beer, and hopefully we will be able to meet again on another cruise or at WDW.

Oh, and guys, I think I read it right that he is NOT buying any season tickets with the cruise cancellation. I came close myself to dropping my Brown's tickets this year, but you know, the year I do that, they will make it to the promised land :sad2:

John

Jordan: I hope that things change for the better. We'll miss you on the cruise. Blessings to you.

I am truly touched by the kind words everyone posted. It makes cancelling that much harder. I could wait to cancel until September, but I know my decision would still be the same.

At the end of the day, I could probably still go on the cruise. I could make it work somehow. I guess it comes down to prioritizing my finances. I hate being responsible :teeth:

Don't worry. I'll still be around to cause trouble, but probably less so as the cruise nears because I'll be sad.

John, I still owe you a beer.

And just and FYI, it looks like my next trip to WDW will be June '07. Yeah, a crappy time to go,but there's a teacher in the group...bummer.

And if any of you are out in CA, I have an AP that doesn't get much use. :teeth:

I am sorry to be sappy, but John, Lisa, Vanessa, Angie and Dennis(Cristi too)...I just have to say.....I never thought in a million years that you could actually develop friendships through message boards like these, but it happened. Thank you so much for making the last cruise so special and fun. I am hoping it won't be the last time we all can cruise together.

Gosh guys - I leave you for less than a week and it takes me 2 days to catch up.

Lots of good stuff by everyone EXCEPT Jordan - very sad!!! We will send pixie dust and prayers. So sorry to hear you won't be joining us.

Lisa - loved your stories...your daughter's story is just precious. Love it!!

Klineyqueen - great job on the day out with the kids!!

Can't remember who had the car issue...but that happened to DH...took it to the dealer...$120 later - loose gas cap! Yikes!!

Okay - now I will take back respnsiblity to bump us up every AM. I think life is back to some normalcy...whatever the heck normalcy is...

Brack - did you find out about the job move? I guess you have no choice, right? Prayers and pixie dust to you too!

Quick update on my DS's first communion - just wonderful!! He looked so grown up and handsome. The weather was perfect. My food didn't get hot - not sure what happened, so I had to do some work arounds on the lasagna and chicken....but it all worked out.

I think the best part was getting the whole family together...cousins...aunts...uncles, family friends...just awesome.

The next few issues on my plate -
1. pool - supposed to start digging at the end of this week! :cool1: :cool1:
2. finish up my job as HR mom - just wasn't right for me...I'll be glad when this one is over...too much politics, unhappy parents, too much time!!! I have 2 more jobs/parties and then I'll join the ranks of parents on the side.

But for all you parents who've "been there"...don't you think every parent who complains about school should be required to "do duty"...meaning playground monitor or HR parent, etc. Ya just don't know what it is like until you've been there. I know last year I had some not-so-nice things to say about our HR parties....NEVER AGAIN!!! Now I understand.

Okay - you guys have a great Tuesday!!!

Karen - I am glad to hear that it all went well with you First Communion Party. Were your parents happy and relaxed on their mini vacation?

Thanks. Yes...we had such a nice visit. And I miss them already ... they just left yesterday. When they got back to florida, they had to be re-routed b/c of the fires. It really sounds bad down there!! So that was an unfortunate ending to a very relaxing visit.

Anyone know how the parks are doing? I have a friend who is going to Disney in a few weeks. This dry weather is really bad.

It's raining here in Sarasota today, not sure about what's going on in Orlando, but we need the rain! As much as it puts a damper on everyone's vacation it is a welcome sight!

We haven't had much in the way of rain around here either, but luckily we don't get brushfires. It must be frightening! We are on a drought watch, down 6-8 inches so far. It has been great for the Little League season so far, but won't be so great when we get into a full fledged drought. Campfires have not been allowed for awhile now.

Speaking of Little League, our softball team (ages 9-12) finally won their first game Sat.!! :cheer2: :cheer2: I just wanted one win under their belts. They have been playing great, but it doesn't show in the scores! I am one of those coaches who is all for the kids, not the wins. Sometimes I think I may not be cut out for it because of this. One of the coaches from the last team we played kept telling his players that a walk is as good as a hit. While theoretically this may be true, tell me what kid goes home proud that he walked three times!! :confused3 My daughter is proud when she hits the ball, even if she gets out everytime. I say it's the only way to learn. Try and try again!!

Unfortunantly, I can totally relate to what you are saying. The experience seems to make you jaded & burned out. (((HUGS))) The kids are the ones who are going to miss out but you are right....those whiners need to step up & take a turn!
