I had cleaning that had to be done and i just can't do it. i came downstairs this AM to a counter full of dirty dishes and figured "why aren't they in the dishwasher; maybe it's full" Wellll NOOOO that wasn't the case...in fact it was empty so i had to put them in myself...

:headache: i gotta go take more painkillers...

Hi all! It is a beautiful day here. Sunny and really warm for us. Everyone is a little quieter today because of the mall shootings. I have been there many times! We went there when I was a kid, we take DD there, Steve and I go with friends. It has movie theaters and great restaurants. An 18 year old shot and killed 5 people, he was killed. There are 4 more in local hospitals. He shot everyone he saw until an off duty police officer from another city left his wife to go engage the suspect. They are saying he saved dozens of people by taking the gunmans attention away and taking him on himselft. The officer had a gun battle with him until swat arrived and the gunman was killed.

Obviously Savannah has heard a lot of this and told Steve this morning that she was scared, so we are reassuring her that everything is safe. This is hard to do when I don't believe it myself. I can only imagine those poor families who were eating together at the spagetti factory are dealing with. When they brought the little kids out of the restaurant after the shooting was over, they asked the media to back away and moved the cop cars away so they would not further traumatize these children who saw the bodies and the killer.

My heart just aches for the families of those killed. One was a 15 year old girl... I am just heart sick today and I cannot get rid of the pit in my stomach.

John we have quite a few folks from Ohio on the repo cruise. When they talk about the amusement park or other things there it reminds me of you guys. This morning I thought of Kim & her family when I heard the terrible news about the mall shooting in SLC. I find myself doing that a lot lately.

We think of you guys every time we see something about NC too!

That just makes me ill Kim, and brings tears to my eyes! What a terrible tragedy for all!

I am going to leave here now . . . and try to slog home. It is crazy here with the snow- everyone thinks we should close early, but we never close. A normal 1/2 hour errand at lunch took me 90 minutes. Just slow going, but dangerous if you are a fool.

Time to go home and clear the driveway! I am the last one to leave the office and turn the lights off!

Oyster stew for us tonight! YUMMMMY!! Not very WW friendly but I love it; especially on a snowy winter eve. :surfweb:

Got home at 5:30, and just sat down after clearing the driveway and walks, eating dinner, and taking a shower.

Stuff is still coming down. It is pelting the windows and is the consistency of snow cones. By the time I got done with the bottom of the driveway, the top had another inch or two on it. They said we are getting about two inches an hour, and school is already cancelled for tomorrow.

Wish work was cancelled too!

Guess I'll get up at 5:00 and clear the driveway again!

V - mention all of this to John2 next time he thinks he wants to move to Ohio!

Our prayers to all you folks back east/midwest battling the storms. It has been a tough winter. Reminds me of the late 50's early 60's. :sad2: The folks in Crested Butte, Colorado had tunnels under the snow between their houses in those years. :scared1:

Where are all my friends tonight? :confused3 Are you all snuggled under blankets keeping warm or out shoveling out?

I have been digging myself out from under the 20K+ posts over there to finish up the summaries. Hope that Dennis is sleeping soundly & feels better in the morning.

Happy Valentine's Day to All the Geeks!!!

I am back at work again today. The roads were in pretty decent shape since the snow stopped by noon yesterday and we only ended up with a few inches. The kids were excited that they had stuff to dig through this morning but it caused a bit of a meltdown for DD when we refused to let her take candy to school with her.

We ended up finding some vegan/organic gummy bears and some sugar-free cookie things for DS to take to school so he would have something to eat at his class Valentine's party today. We didn't try the gummy bears but DH tried one of the cookies and said it was not great. Hopefully DS will like them.

We have not really found sugar-free cookies that are palatable. All those ones sweetened with apple juice etc. are pretty bad. But I find commercial cookies unbearably sweet. I think making your own is the only solution.

My kids like those gummy bears. you could also try organic Fruit leather.

The exact reason that the kids only get their cards in the morning. ;) They will have goodie bags when they get home. DD wouldn't eat anything but chocolate if I gave that to her when she got up. DS would just say...that's not healthy for breakfast...and eat his waffles. LOL!

Hope that John & Amy are staying safe in OH. The video on the news this morning was terrible!!! Stay safe everyone having to deal with that terrible weather.

I had the worst dream just before I woke this morning. We were at a resort and I was in the hot tub (that was NOT the bad part), then I started looking for DrHug and could not find him. :confused3 I called his cell phone and he had gone to Disneyland without me!! :sad1: :sad1: I guess the resort must have been by the park. I was so, so sad and then I woke and was still feeling sad. :sad2: Silly me! And on Valentine's Day!

We are both at work and fine. Sophia is at Grandma's because of no school. Yeah, it's bad, but people totally panic and get all wound up. As long as you take it easy and are careful, everything is OK.

I got up at 5:00 and did the driveway and walks again before coming in. If I get a chance, maybe I will post a picture for you warm weather Geeks. All told we probably got about 10 inches of snow here in the 24 hours. A Pain, but manageable.

Finally looks like winter!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

No school today, and Hannah's dental appt is canceled (they closed the office). We have too much ice here. Yesterday was light snow most of the day, but since last night it's been ice/sleet/freezing rain. I took Elizabeth to her viola lesson last night (DH had driven home just before that and said it wasn't bad). Well, between his trip and mine it had switched to freezing rain... after scraping my windshield completely, I had to stop along the way because more froze on my windshield as I drove!!!

And it will be well below freezing for the next few days, so this stuff is not going away!

Glad John1 and Amy are safely at work. Marielle - HATE freezing rain. Yowzer! Freezing on your windshield while driving is pretty bad! Just stay home and drink hot chocolate - preferably DARK.
