OK, DISers...I need help. (no comments, John)

We have about a week until we leave and WE (DW and I) have nothing done....NOTHING.

Bags are not packed....or even started.....We have no real list of what we need to do....Work is backing up (mine and hers).....Bandanas are not ironed....house is still in disorder....and, she is stressing more over the stupid pirate costume than over us having a well prepared week...If I have to take over the packing and organizing, we will be in VERY serious trouble.

I am asking everyone to do us a favor...INTERVENTION! Gentle reminders to BOTH of us to get to work, get packed, etc etc...

She is lurking right now as I type this, even after I asked her to get back to work. She runs out the door in the morning to get to work and then shows up on DIS right away...she stays later (to finish stuff up) but then has to run home and DIS... :sad2: Then she tells me we don't have enough time. :confused3

I'm just as guilty...I need to get to work too...But knowing that she is lurking, just to stay caught up, makes me hang around here too...not good!

We are not going to be ready to go and we'll both be stressed and screaming at each other for this last week and the following week....Please help....I KNOW you all understand.

Andy - GET TO WORK!!!

Really though, you will get it all done. It really doesn't take that long to pack. The most important thing is a swimsuit and something else to put n your back. You may want a few of these so you don't have to do laundry every night in your swimsuit! I just asked DH today if he has any shorts and he replied, "I think I have one pair."

That was nice to send the box. I do hope she has a nice Christmas.

Some of the teachers in my building really do not like parent help and others do. Some schools you need your clearances to help in. Our district has not come to that point yet...but who know what is coming down the pike.

In our district, if you are helping in the classroom or school in anyway, including going on fieldtrips, they have to do a background check on you first.

Yes, they cook quicker, they are done to perfection everytime and they peel easier. I LOVE my egg cooker! You can do one batch right after another and you can go about doing other things while they cook and not even think about them because it will buzz LOUD when done.

Ok, I'll need some more info on this! :thumbsup2

more pixie dust!!
I called back to confirm they switched me and asked about FL rates....and lo and behold they could apply it.
SO, something happened....because in the fine print on the WDW passholder and Fl section it is not available these dates and I have called and checked on the website non stop.
My mom also called back and changed hers from CBD to ASMusic (darn) and got the Fl rate....I am happy for the extra savings!

They said it was related to his blood pressure. I wonder if the schedule of being on tour and raising a family was just too much for him. That is of course a speculation...but....I hope he gets well.
I heard it was a rare disorder... :guilty:

I will add to this that our frustration is that this teacher only gave them this info the day before TG. So over the TG weekend they were supposed to find a costume, build scenery and memorize and act. This kid is not a thespian, not an artist, but he can discuss the play and answer any question you ask. However, 1/2 of his grade will be based on his "costume" and the "scenery". He told us last night not to expect a good grade on this one....no costume, no scenery but he will be reciting the lines. :sad2: Doesn't have to have an understanding of the lines, just recite them.

Angie, that is just crazy! Sarah had to "dress up" as someone last year and I think they are nuts! Maybe someone doesn't have the time or money or resources to do that kind of thing. And scenery?? It is a public school right?? I hate to see so much waste on 'creative' things anymore that end up in the trash afterwards. I mean, creativity is great and all, but how many sheets of posterboard need to be wasted for a 2 minute presentation? KWIM? :sad2:

I have to go pick up DD. We usually stop at the restaraunt for lunch, but today I have to help out for lunch too if the delivery guy isn't back yet. DH had to go up the road... :moped:

Exactly! This is an Honors English class not a drama class.

I just talked to Nona at "A Perfect Gift." I decided to send my DH a birthday basket. It will have a 6 pack of Corona (his beer of choice) a lime and bottle opener. It will also have a bottle of Asti. There will be a few snacks and his favorite candy -Kit Kat and Peanut Butter Cups. He will be so surprised!!!! :cool1:

Kim - it sounds like you had a fun time being a substitute Santa. We don't really have this - just Toys for Tots and used coat drives. Some agencies will
match you up with an individual family if you request it.

It always amazes me how much abundance there is and how much need. You would think there is a better way of making those 2 come together.
We here at the VA have many times "adopted" a disabled veteran family for Christmas. We do it as groups, i.e pharmacy, a ward, Director's Office, etc. If you don't know someone who needs help and want to adopt someone you can contact your local VA Voluntary Service and ask if they can pair you with someone or give you the number for local Veteran Service organizations (VFW, DAV, American Legion, etc) that could give you a family. There I go advocating for the veterans again! ;)

Don't forget a bottle opener and a way to cut the lime!

I guess he decided to "fruit the beer".
