What do you do with a kid who gets so upset taking medicine that he throws it right back up. I managed to get two doses of Motrin in him last night and this morning with fairly minimal upset but the sicker and worse he feels the harder it becomes to get him to take it. He just took 1/2 dose of Motrin and then got sick. Yuck! Thankfully we "caught" most of it but then he turns into a hysterical mess while I try to clean him and couch up. :sad2: I feel so bad for him but he really needs the meds. I will try again a little while leter. I did give him a Tylenol suppository to at least get some kind of medicine in him but they don't make Motrin suppositories and the Tylenol does not work as well at keeping his fevers down.

Does anyone else have a kid like this? What do you do? :confused3

:grouphug: This is the first year that DD has taken meds willingly. She is so proud of herself. In the past the doctor had to show me how to sit on her pinning her arms to her side with my knees and forcing her jaw open to squirt the meds to the back of her throat and holding her mouth closed until she swallowed it. DH couldn't stand to be in the same room & I hated doing it but she was very ill with a terrible strep infection then there was the pneumonia the next year. :( I have used M&Ms as a bribe. Would something like that work for him? I always have something good to cut the taste.

Well,

Still 17 pages behind, but I MUST get to bed or I will be a zombie tomorrow.

I have to go to Cleveland for work tomorrow too . . .

WHEN will I catch up?

Night! :wave2:

Oh we can get him to swallow it and we can bribe, etc.. the problem is that even after he swallows it he can make himself throw it up because he gets upset. Even if he takes it willingly apparently it is too tramatic and he can make himself sick. :sad2:

Don't tell John, but I think I am going to bed. I didn't sleep too well with him being gone, awake every hour, and I have had a migraine all day!! I wonder if I can sneak past him in the great room I mean I am so small he surely wouldn't notice me?????

Here I go wish me luck. Darn Sophia just finished her story to him. keep reading girl, get another book!!!

That's something I forgot, Lisa. I have used the bribery approach, too. One bribe that worked was having some Sprite after the medicine... it's a rare treat for my kids, and I think the fizziness helps to cut through the thick medicine taste.

Off topic random question.....I have been wondering this for a while now but forget to ask. :)

Those of you who put frozen meat in crock pots....what do you wrap it up with? I use to use saran wrap then foil but the wrap stuck & I had to peel it off the meat. I then used waxed paper....same problem & it is annoying in the morning when I am trying to pop something in the pot & head out for the day. TIA!
I use glad freezer bags. They work perfectly!

After DD's first bout with pneumonia, she threw up the medicine every time. She got worse. Turns out, she was allergic to the Augmenten...

Just toss it all out in a couple weeks before you leave for the cruise. They wont remember anything about it when you get back. Works every time! :thumbsup2

While I hope we have good servers, I am MUCH less worried about it now. We will all be together! Even bad servers are not going to spoil my cruise!

Augmenten was useless here. As a baby, DD13 threw that up every time too. And if I remember correctly, she was supposed to have something to eat with it, too. So the poor baby had an ear infection, was starving (because everything came back with the medicine) and was filthy. I was in tears, too.

That Augmentin was the nastiest stuff. It gave DS a terrible diaper yeast infection and the absolute worst diarrhea I have ever seen. He would just sit and cry because his bottom hurt so bad.

Do we need a mickey bar bib cermony, ala the lobster bib cermony? Will this make the bib deal cool with the junior cruisers in your dinning section?

Aunt Pj

I have a feeling that Auntie PJ leading the troops in this routine will help all! :thumbsup2
