Perhaps this has already been talked about, but........

Are any of you planning on watching the night time shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral the night before we embark? DH keeps telling me it's a chance of a lifetime, but I am hesitant to book a hotel there and miss a night at WDW when they change the launch dates so frequently.

Space shuttle launch would be neat but i think they have the launch scheduled for the 7th right now and Mission Control is talking about pushing the date sooner by a day or too because they want the shuttle back before New Years...(Shuttle has apparently never been in space during a year change and they're not sure what might happen.)

We almost saw a rocket launch last trip.... It got scrubbed and we ended up watching it off the side of the boat all afternoon. What a waste of time.

Yes, that would be way to much math for me. This gives us some idea though that there is still LOTS of availability in all CATs.

Up to what day does DCL accept reservations for a cruise, and I wonder how far they drop prices?

DS didn't smile for his pictures until his 4 year class. DD looked petrified....and ended up in tears after the pictures were taken. I still like them because I can see her confidence building in them each year.

I told my DH that I will like them because it will show an emotion. I think that is my scrapbooking side coming out. I like to capture all kinds of emotions with the kids expressions.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. We always book WAY out.

Well, I review the navigator after we put the kids to bed at night. I also call the PALS line to get the character schedule. I then coordinate the characters we will see with the activities & write it down. DH gets up around 5...like at home...and goes out on deck to get some coffee, enjoy the sunrise, and get some great pictures of the ship and the water. I am usually up with the kids 7-8. He brings us something to drink & a muffin while we get dressed. We head up to Topsiders then the kids get in the pool...unless there is something else going on that they want to do. We don't have a spreadsheet but I do keep that list of things to do with me. It never seems rushed because before we start one thing...like swimming...I will tell the kids what time we need to be someplace to see X. I like to go to Shutters & the shops while DH is at the pool with the kids so I can really look.

I never used the PALS line before, but I will on this trip!

Becka, thanks for posting about the clock. It was an hour off for me so I just had to go in & change the DST setting.

I think they have to submit a passenger manifest for security reasons to the government about 72 hours from sailing so that is about the latest you can book. Usually however DCL is not known for dropping prices and the cruise gets closer. Our cruise must be really under booked for some reason. I guess maybe word about us has gotten around!

You can call me Jo. Sorry, I should have introduced myself. I have two kids, ages 6 and 3. We are Americans, living in Canada for the past 6 years.

Thanks so much for the information. People keep telling me that a night time launch would be amazing and I'd really love for the kids to see it, but I think it's too much of a gamble. We'll stay put at WDW.
