Well, looking at the DIS geek "000" milestones, I am not the record holder... And Brack must be one of the top pirate: of the "00" milestones, because he does not have as many of the "000" as I thought.

Pssst.. Watch out for Pj....

I am innocent!

DD13 got Lyme disease when she was 9 and turning 10. We didn't discover it until November when she couldn't walk one Monday morning --her ankle was really swollen. Thought maybe she had done something at soccer over the weekend. Went to the Dr., got xrays, etc. Dr decided to do a blood test for Lyme just on a hunch. Two days later--got the results. The swollen joints are stage 3 of Lyme... we never noticed a tic bite or the target rash, but it had probably happened back in August... DD had spent much of the fall being really tired, but we wrote it off to the crazy schedule (DS3 had been born that same August; no one was sleeping well!). Anyway, antibiotics for 3 weeks and all was well. Actually, the ankle was good enough to play soccer again that Saturday!
Does it ever actually go away or does it kind of go into "remission?"

Becka - that's where we usually go and I want to go there again!!!!

I need to get your cell number so we can get together on Friday night. Remind me where you are staying (opening up Lisa's site takes too long)....plus this works as a post!

Sounds like a plan. We are staying at the Radission but I hear the party is over at the Residence Inn. ;) I will PM you my cell number. Hopefully we will get into town mid-afternoon 2-3ish or so and have time to check in and freshen up before dinner. Otherwise we may look pretty bad after a 22-24 hour drive.

.......I do have a candy confession. Last night I took some candy out of DS's Halloween bucket without his knowledge. :sad2:

Take candy from their Halloween stash WITHOUT them knowing?!? Who would do such a thing!?! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

For those of you who love homemade cheese cake here is an awesome recipe. This is from my grandmother's collection. You need a springform pan for this one:

Cheese Cake (spring form pan)

Graham Cracker Crust
2 cups Graham crackers – crushed
2 Tbls, sugar
3 Tbls. Butter – softened
Mix together – press into bottom of pan

Filling
2 – 8 oz. Blocks cream cheese
¾ cup sugar (add sugar gradually in mixer)
½ tsp. Salt
1 ½ Tbls. Flour
¾ tsp. Vanilla

Mix on low speed until no lumps remain. Then add the following.

3 eggs – mix on at a time
1 cup light cream
1 cup sour cream

Pour over crumb crust

Bake one hour at 325* - NO LONGER!!!

After removing from the oven run a knife around the edge of the pan.
This will help prevent cake from cracking.
After cool add favorite topping!

What do you do with a kid who gets so upset taking medicine that he throws it right back up. I managed to get two doses of Motrin in him last night and this morning with fairly minimal upset but the sicker and worse he feels the harder it becomes to get him to take it. He just took 1/2 dose of Motrin and then got sick. Yuck! Thankfully we "caught" most of it but then he turns into a hysterical mess while I try to clean him and couch up. :sad2: I feel so bad for him but he really needs the meds. I will try again a little while leter. I did give him a Tylenol suppository to at least get some kind of medicine in him but they don't make Motrin suppositories and the Tylenol does not work as well at keeping his fevers down.

Does anyone else have a kid like this? What do you do? :confused3
DD13 was like that. It was torture and tears and I think we got through illnesses on whatever small percentage of medicine got in her system.
Now DS3 loves medicine and keeps trying to climb onto the counter and get to the cabinet for more!! yikes! Never had a kid that loved it so much that safety was such an issue!

Did someone say candy? :thumbsup2

I do have a candy confession. Last night I took some candy out of DS's Halloween bucket without his knowledge. A Take 5 bar, Whoppers and some peanut M&Ms. I am a bad WW'er as well as a bad Mommy. :sad2:
You aren't a bad mommy...all parents "steal" a little halloween candy!!! Although...you are a bad WW!!! Naughty girl!

My DS loves taking medicine...weird kid! He takes a vitamin with floride every morning...trust me he never forgets!

"Most cases of Lyme disease can be cured with antibiotics, especially if treatment is begun early in the course of illness. However, a small percentage of patients with Lyme disease have symptoms that last months to years after treatment with antibiotics. These symptoms can include muscle and joint pains, arthritis, cognitive defects, sleep disturbance, or fatigue. The cause of these symptoms is not known. There is some evidence that they result from an autoimmune response, in which a person’s immune system continues to respond even after the infection has been cleared."

The same DS that hated to take medicine when he was little now LOVES to take it. He'll even fake a cough to try to finagle some! Too funny! :rotfl:

::yes::

I figure DS may occassionally want something else and I might be able to convince DD to have something else as well. What are the typical kids desserts? I am sure most of them will cause a huge mess. DD's favorite dessert is cake.

Becka, order a cake she likes off the adult menu, its free! There is always something chocolate on the menu.

Allie is like that. It is nice not to have to fight her but I worry about her getting into the medicine cabinet as well. This morning when I gave DS his medicine she was hovering around begging for some of her own and she kept trying to steal it. She has had a runny nose so I dosed her up some Dimetapp and she was as happy as can be. I have very strange children....they must get it from their Dad! ;) :rotfl2:

I will be bringing a few decorations from the dollar store to decorate for my DH's birthday. I will bring stuff that I can then throw away.

That's a good idea......take something cheap that can be tossed at the end! :thumbsup2
