Hey, I haven't read or caught up yet because I'm making door signs. I found this and it reminded me of the Castaway Cay Beach Takeover.

Hannah's Brownie troop has not done any "big" events with their cookie money last year and the year before (Hannah also sold more than 100 boxes each year). So when things started in October we find out that they're doing the scout sleepover at the zoo. Sounds nice, OK. But every Mom must attend with the girl. And I cannot go, so Hannah cannot go.

Are you talking about the GS sleepover at the zoo? When we did it, only 1 adult per 5 kids were allowed.

That's it. I'm not a leader anymore so I don't have the details. Her leader said each girl needed a mom/adult when she announced it. So once I said that would not work for us, I haven't gotten any more info on the event since we weren't going.

Girl Scout Council....I'd call them and ask for an accounting of the money the troup earned.

I know it sounds bad, but the money earned is not supposed to be counted for each girl, just as a troop as a whole. Technically, when you move from one troop to another, "your" money does not follow you. What i don't understand is why the leader, who is not a leader any more, has access to the money. Why isn't it with the troop and the new leader?

She disbanded the troop...Made all the girls independants with no troops...

V, you have heard lots of good advice; please don't stress! Here's another thing to consider if you wish. You can ask for a speech screening test from a speech pathologist. (I had to get a referral from the pediatrician to follow the paperwork procedure, but that was no problem.) For Walt, I had screenings done by the county early intervention program and by a private speech pathologist. I also had my sis in law (also a speech pathologist working with preschoolers) test him whenever we got together at holidays (she lives in Tennessee, so we don't get together often). Also had a hearing screening just to be sure that was not an issue (didn't think so, but there are kids who fool family and teachers for years because they can wing it somehow). Anyway, bottom line is that he just passed the screening tests and did not need therapy. But the tests and therapy really are a lot of fun for the kids, especially preschoolers. It's a lot of playing to learn. I was actually hoping he would qualify! And even though he talks quite a bit now, we may have another screening test done in a few months because his speech is not clear to everyone all of the time.

I had a speech therapist. He was so cute! Huge crush!

Sometimes I think the days of June Cleaver might have been easier. At least then you did not have guilt about if you were making the right choices....they were made for you. :sad2:

I understand not feeling passion for what you do. One of the things I lament the most is that in my normal day I don't really help anyone. I don't make any difference except to a bottom line. I know I should probably do more volunteer work to try to balance it out but as a full-time working Mom I feel like I don't spend enough time with my kids as it is. Adding a lot more volunteer time just cuts into that. Hopefully someday my kids will be able to volunteer with me some.

Yes, but no way am I wearing her heels!

Exactly. If the troup was disbanded then the money should have been turned into the Council. The ex-leader should not have kept it.

I just went back in Chat 'cause I saw Lisa'snote. She couldn't get back in. See the gremlins were playing a late trick on her. Poor Lisa.

Night again. I just came back to see whether Lisa did ever get reconnected in with place. Have a great weekend!!

See ya Kim, Angie and Caroline.

Seriously? What does the dentist do with all that candy?

He gives it to the homeless shelter. My question is... do we want the poor homeless children to get cavities instead? Hopefully the shelter rations it out.
