12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Judy - That's what I do, with the Word docs. Then I print it out and take it on the trip. I even state on the list where everything is located - checked bag, outside or inside pockets, carry-on tote and which pockets, then break it down to which zippered organizer bag, etc. The reason I do that is so I don't have any problem re-packing at cruise's end because I can see where everything goes without thinking. It all fits. It actually saves time in the end. Took me 20 minutes to re-pack on the last day. I check off what I pack when leaving and again when returning so nothing is left behind. Now if only my mother had let me do that for her . . .

Ringtones - I have different ones to identify various people. After I switched to my Blackberry, I think the only Disney one I have is Beauty and the Beast. I had several on my previous phone.

SITE UPDATE: I am now using Google Docs forms on our Cruisin' Nuts 2010 website (also did one for the 2011) to make adding yourself or your kids to our list easier. To submit your listing to our main cruiser list, click HERE. To sign up your children on the kids page, click HERE. Be sure to scroll down to the Submit button. The info is sent to a spreadsheet, then I add it to the site. If you have any trouble you can always PM me or post on this thread. Those who are already on the list do not need to complete the form unless changing your info. Thanks!

Val - I did not notice people bringing their own drinks, but I'm sure that many did.

I never do because it's just more to carry, but as long as you bring it in your carry on it is apparently still allowed. No problem.

I like Barq's root beer and my husband likes Pepsi, so we pack a few cans in our carry on and then buy a few more at ports.
We love to have smoothies at the pool, strawberry for me and pineapple for my husband. Smoothies are only a cruise thing. We never have them anywhere else. :)

I only drink Pepsi and the last 2 cruises, I have brought a case on board with me. :)

this time we will be able to buy alcohol in the different ports since we wont have to carry it on a plane.

I take a bunch of clothes on the cruise to toss out, so I always have more room to pack on the way home! :) the kids all ready have pjs they think we can take to toss out. :thumbsup2

in the past I always put a bunch of clothes of everyone in each suitcase in case the airlines misplaced a bag. again dont have to worry about that.

I did learn from a fellow cruiser to pack some of the kids clothes in ziploc gallon size bags, and they have an instant matching outfit. (it helped John dress them) and they stacked awesome in the suitcase!!

I did use the storage bags where you compress all the air out for bathing suits etc.. this really helped condense a suitcase!!

:thumbsup2 That's how I pack all my clothes except dresses. My bag has one of those built-in garment bags that folds in the lid, so that's where dresses go. Everything else I put in the gallon ziploc bags and squeeze the air out. They pack wonderfully, save space, and allow you to easily see everything. I think they are the most useful item ever for packing. I started doing that to keep the dust out way back when I did my first safari. After the first couple of times I realized it would be useful for all my packing. :)

I got a Disney garment bag and this will be it's first use. I'll probably start putting stuff in bags around November.

I'm too excited to sleep!

If you want something to read, how about my TR from my first cruise/Mousefest '08? Lucky me that that was the last year for Mousefest!

So, to get to know each other a little bit better, what does everyone have for ring tones on their cellphone? I have Toes by the Zac Brown Band. My husband has the 1959 White Sox song.

I love the toes song! As for my phone I have dif. tones for dif. people

Hubby=theme from Emergency- not really a song, it's the tones and the talking. "Bomp bomp bomp station 51 etc..."
Daughter=Defying gravity from Wicked
Son- Indiana Jones theme
Mom- Wonderful world by Louis Armstrong
Dad- Mud on the Tires
girlfriends- Low by the Chipmunks (sorry Flo-rida but they are cuter)
Principal and other school phones- Darth Vadar's March
random #'s- Top Gun theme

My favorite phone find is my text message alert. I'm a red head and my phone does the Kim Possible communicator sound when I get a text. I get tons of comments. Way fun.:rotfl:

Do you mean the "Toes in the water, _ _ _ in the sand" one? I LOVE that one! It really helps you visualize - lol. :thumbsup2

Yes, that is my ring tone. When we were in Las Vegas in November and did a Rte 66 road trip into AZ & CA, the radio stations played a different version. It was "Toes in the Water and TOES in the Sand". It just din't sound right. When I figure out how to do it on my new phone, I am going to make the ship's horn my text message tone.

Happy rainy Saturday!! :)

hope everyone is having a good weekend... I am on day 6 of 11 for being a single parent. John is in Japan, China this week.

For ringtones I have
All Summer Long By Kid rock for my friend Tony who passed away January 22nd.
My friend Tonya - Get silly
Most others are my Verizon default Ringtone
Guess I need to get more creative with them lol.

Wow. We have a quite a few 10-11 year old girls. Mine will be 11 about 3 weeks after the cruise and would love to chat with some of the others. She already has a great E-friendship with Jenn's daughter Abby.

The others I noticed are: Iowaswete DD Morgan; jollyg DD Nicole; Juls2989 DD Hannah; Magic3forme DD Natalie; my4bratz DD and SouthernGirls3 DD Katelyn.

What a fun group this could be! If any of these ladies would like to get to know Mac a little better please PM me and we will swap e-mails.

Thanks!:cutie:

Well, hard to imagine (for me) but after booking & planning for well over a year - we have cancelled our cruise. :(

DH's job is facing lay offs. Although he has not been cut yet - it looks like his area will be. We talked it over and decided to do a less expensive vacation this year - just in case - and if he survives we'll look at DCL in the next year or two.

I was really looking forward to this - you all sound like a really fun group to vacation with. Hope you have a great cruise.

Deb and family--so sorry you had to cancel your cruise and about dh's job!!

We are so sorry to lose you and your family, Deb. I wish you all the best. I'm sure you've made a wise decision. I wish I could be so wise myself, as I am really pushing it for my next two cruises, but since I'll be cruising alone, my worst scenario would be having to end up downgrading my stateroom to still go.

If your situation improves and you decide you might be able to sail next year, please consider joining our Cruisin' Nuts 2011: Return of the Cruisin' Nuts. As of today it is 664 days away (Dec. 3-10, 2011). It would be great to have you cruising with us. Disneydreamer82 was originally booked on this year's cruise but had to cancel and is now booked on next year's.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care.

Shari

Thanks everyone.

I called and we switched to a WDW vacation, so we'll still get a dose of magic this year - just not the cruising type.

Shari, ugh - I so don't want to be wise. LOL, we have had this planned for so long it feels funny giving it up. But the money we save will help us prepare in case we do go to a one income family. However, if John isn't on the cut list we will certainly keep the 2011 Crusin' Nuts in mind!

Take care, and I hope someone does a trip report so I can live vicariously!
