12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Frank - I REALLY wish they had not closed it as well. I also used to love Quark's Restaurant, but the last time I ate there it was already headed downhill. Nothing stays the same. Too bad. At least there are a lot of other attractions in Las Vegas. It's almost like a big theme park. :lmao:

I've got a list of things that I wanna do while there and not gambling (not that I'm much of a gambler, DCL bingo notwithstanding).

I also found a $100 bill that was hiding on my hutch that I'm designating gambling money, so that's cool.

Also, relating to the cruise, I just booked my post-cruise stay at POFQ (first time staying there) for 12/11 through 12/17, another step closer! Only thing that remains is to book the airfare!

We just got back from our 2nd WDW trip. Had a wonderful time at Fort Wilderness. Dh was funny, he really liked having a golf cart at FW - said next year he wants to take one of his own. I had to break it to him gently. .the reminder we have DCL for the next two years. But he could work on getting his own golf cart for any year after that! :) So we may be shooting for a return to WDW in 2012. Man that is so far away.

Our trip this year was filled with wonderful moments. Like Santa wishing the girls a happy birthday from his float during the MVMCP parade. Their jaws dropped, their expression pricess that he knew it was their birthday. And at the HDDR they were picked to ring the dinner bell. Was a very magical trip. No one got sick this year either - adding to it being a perfect family time.

We are planning a post stay at GF post cruise next year. My DDs just love that place. It makes them feel princess-ish. Figure we could splurge since it will just be one night.

Last November we were at Disneyland for my birthday and I had a birthday pin. I was amazed at how many characters wished me a happy birthday, also many CMs and strangers. It was really special to me. I loved everyone's kindness.:grouphug:

They were wished a "happy birthday princess" by a lot of cast members. It was funny as one would hear it. . then the other would make sure they saw her button too so she wouldn't miss out. On our way home we stopped in Mississippi for the night - and they asked where their buttons were as they didn't get a cupcake or a birthday wish at dinner! I think the Disney touch spoiled them a tad.

I think the Disney Way has spoiled all of us. (In a good way.) That is why we love all things Disney. (Well, except the Disney Stores at the malls.)

Today was my mom's 87th birthday. We had lunch at Kona Cafe then went to MK. Her seasonal pass expired this month and she decided to use her free birthday admission towards a "weekday seasonal pass" instead. Since she rarely goes anymore, it's ideal for her.

She got LOTS of birthday wishes from pretty much every CM and many guests. But while nearly every character in the parade stopped to greet her, my lovable chipmunks crossed the street and "worked" the other side just before they reached us and for quite a distance after. So they never even looked our way and I didn't get a chance to photograph them in their Christmas outfits. :sad1:

dato63 - I'm so glad you all had such a wonderful time and no one got sick. Tell your DH I totally understand about the golf cart. I have had use of a really nice one most of this year because my sister's fiance needed a place to store it and then said I can use it as much as I like. I am so used to cruising around the community in it that it's going to be a real downer when he eventually wants it back. There is no way I could afford one, but it sure is fun!

We are headed up to Flaming Gorge to get our Christmas trees and won't be around for a couple days so I'm posting a little early.

To my DIS friends... I am thankful for all of you! Really! Even without having ever actually met I always find a smile when I log in and I am so looking forward to our week together next year. Please have a healthy and safe Thanksgiving. :disrocks:

tinkluvr12 - That's a beautiful area! I envy you being where there is actually winter and you go get your trees like that. I SO miss the seasons and mountains at my "other home" back in Idaho, where the winter holidays feel so right. I am not saying that Christmas is about the weather and topography, but it always got me more into the holiday spirit. Sure, you can select a Christmas tree from a tree nursery here, but it could be 80 degrees, sunny and humid. I want to wear winter clothes again! At least there is WDW's Candlelight Processional and other holiday events and I try to go on the cooler days. ;)

Have a magical, wonderful Thanksgiving! Stay safe, and enjoy the blessings of the season. :goodvibes

we are back from WDW. We had a great time. We love love the Polynesian, we were minutes away from the TTC and our room was quiet too. :)

well we were totally disappointed at Le Cellier.. my steak was cold ( my entire plate was.) they recooked it.. but it wasnt the same.. and our waitress was not the best. Mon night was Kona....that was the best!! it is our new favorite restaurant!! :)

we went to Epcot and did the free picture for having a Disney visa. well it was awesome... private time with Mickey and Pluto. they were so much fun.. the kids loved that part!!! (you can go every day and get a free 5x7 pic).

Val - I'm glad you had a great time! My DM decided she wanted to do MK and not HS. She loves Kona at the Poly also. I took her there for lunch on Monday. Perhaps if we had done dinner there instead, I may have run into you. :)

When you originally said you were doing Le Cellier, I almost gave my opinion but held off because for many the service is heavenly and for others a nightmare. It's a potluck service experience, IMHO. We had a Pal Mickey's Grown-Up Pals Club Reunion dinner there a few years ago. While the food was good, none of us were able to get (non-alcohol) drink refills without begging. The person sitting on the other side of the table from me managed to flag down the server after about 20 minutes of trying. He got his iced tea refill but the server took off and was never to be seen again until he presented ME with the bill (so everyone could get a 20% discount). My iced tea was empty from about 15 minutes into the meal and never refilled. And this guy did not even ask any of us if we wanted dessert! For those prices, I expect decent service. For many it is excellent, but the bottom line is that it is inconsistent. Thank heavens for Kona!

You could always crank the AC down and wear the jackets indoors! :rotfl2:

LOL - Not the same, Frank! I want to look out the window and see it snowing lightly while I sip hot cocoa and wear a warm robe and fuzzy slippers. I want to then dress in my winter clothes and step outside and breathe the wonderfully brisk, cool air and gaze at the snow covered mountains. I have had that and I miss it! Even in the Florida "winter" I wear shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops around the house. If it gets really cold (for Florida) I wear long pants, long-sleeved top and sneakers. If we have a freeze period (and we did last year) THEN I get to dress for the season. But hey - I live on flat land with palm trees as far as you can see and am someone who thinks 75 is "quite warm." :rotfl2:

Let's all be thankful for what we have. I am thankful for my other home out west, even though I rarely get back there anymore. But I am also thankful for now being only an hour from WDW and Port Canaveral. :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Shari, all I want for Christmas is a real nice tan. ;) We loved the Decembers we were able to go to WDW and wear shorts while listening to carollers and enjoying Christmas decorations. It was just so different for us. Living here we seldom get a white Christmas. You would think we would have them more often but we don't. Someday you will be able to spend Christmas in Idaho again.

Judy - I have been in Chicago in the winter and I know what you mean! It's a whole different feeling out west (Colorado, Utah, Idaho, etc). While some areas get bad winter storms, in my part of Idaho we get the cold and snow but rarely anything resembling a blizzard and if so it is short-lived.

But in my community here in FL, most people moved here from the northeast where they hated the winters. They come here for the sunshine, warmth, and easy access to cruise ports. Many move here without realizing we get so much RAIN. :lmao:

I think there is something appealing to nearly every part of the country, and a change of environment is nice. But I have not been in Idaho for Christmas for about 7 years. That's why I get nostalgic this time of year. :santa:

Hey IrishCowboy - You are not on our cruiser list. Will you be sailing with us? I hope so! If so, check out the list and be sure to send me your info so I can add you. :)

I know there have been a couple of mentions... but with the cruise just over a year away - it's an easier way to get to know people. :)
I'm on Twitter as Alyleth and facebook as Alicea Novak. Feel free to add me as a friend (just let me know that you are from the cruise!).
What are thoughts about posting Twitter names on the Cruisin' Nuts site?

I am "Taswira" on Twitter and "taswira" on FB. I don't mind posting maybe one other name beneath the main user name on the list, but if I did two for everyone or if I put it with the real names section on the list, it could grow WAY too big by the time we sail! We are over a year away and the list is pretty big so I expect it to double or possibly triple. Have to think ahead. ;)

I am now following you on Twitter & sent a request on FB, but so far I am not focused on the cruise on either of those. I created the special forum HERE for discussion of our cruise, with topical categories. Feel free to join and post if you like. Just getting started there. You can also post your Twitter & FB names there on the Introductions section if you like. :)
