12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

I never thought about a Christmas stocking. Considering the time of year - that would be perfect. And I can imagine how cheery they would be to see!
YES! Except I'd be afraid it would be stolen by some passerby!

I wouldn't put that stocking out. It is too special. We did attach ours with a thick zip tie. Ours was a plain stocking with our names in "sparkle". Not sure if we saved it or not. I'll find out when we get out our Christmas decorations.

I bought a fish extender off ebay. I think I posted a pic before - so appologize if it is annoying to see it again. :) I do like how it turned out.

Very cute.

Awww, I do remember Shari mentioning using a stocking. Have you used it on previous cruises without it coming up missing? It is awfully cute. I like our FE, but there is no special memories attached to it - so it would be replaceable. Although I do hope to reuse it for Alaska. :)

I do have zip ties on my packing list. DH bought some this weekend for our WDW vacation. I bought some battery operated Christmas lights to decorate our golf cart. Should help us identify it in the sea of carts. :)

I don't think I mentioned the stocking before. I have never done and don't plan on doing the FE unless I change my mind. But I LOVE your FE and all the others as well! :thumbsup2

I only posted my stocking pic because it was mentioned about using a stocking. I would never be crazy enough to hang it out, since I'd have to beg my friend at DLRP to try to find another one - lol. That photo is also at the bottom of the Meets page of our cruise site, because it's Chip 'n' Dale! :goodvibes

Well, my memory isn't what it use to be. But I think you shared that you've seen people use stockings and you posted a pic of yours. I wasn't sure if you had used it before - but do not blame you for not. It really is cute.

I know this is going to sound silly. But I think the logo does add to it. It's like if you pay this money, it's nice to have an extra smile for something as simple as a cute logo, or the FE and the magnets. When I looked at the Alaska cruises, I looked to see the logos, who was talking FE exchanges already, etc. It just, to me, adds some magic - and for the cost of the cruise, it's a nice extra to look forward to. The 8/9/2011 Alaska cruise we are leaning toward has a nice group of people, already talking FE exchange, but the logo is not nearly as cute as this one.

Deb - Since my memory isn't what it used to be either, I couldn't stake my life on its accuracy! I don't think I recall personally seeing anyone use stockings, but have seen them post about it, and may or may not have posted the stocking pic before (especially as a "Christmas" item). :lmao:

One thing I have definitely mentioned before is having decorations and magnets stolen from my stateroom door, but not an FE because I've never had one. It's too bad there are some who cruise who choose to be thieves. Grrrrr.

We made a lot of magnets. So my plan is to use some of them - and if some come up missing, pull out more for the girls to redecorate. I'm hoping the ones with our names on them wouldn't be at risk. But regardless - the girls are wanting to decorate the fridge when we get home, so a few missing might be in my best interest. :)

LOL - I was stupid. Mine were BOUGHT and some slightly rare. Not smart to put them on the door, even WAY high up, and actually TRUST every passerby. :sad2:

I have finally learned my lesson. Anything that goes on my stateroom door will be so personalized that no one else could possibly want it! :lmao:

Certainly doesn't make you stupid. Just sad people would take things like that. I wouldn't have thought about someone stealing them - but someone mentioned it at one point on the DCL board. Not all of ours are personalized, but they are home made - so could be duplicated if we ever wanted them to be.

I got excited today - as far away as the cruise is. DH and I decided to spend Saturday night, after the cruise - at WDW. :) So I get to watch for PIN codes for a one night stay. HE did suggest we not tell the M&Ms as it would be a nice surprise. It's a shame that Saturday we'd be there doesn't seem to have MVMCP in previous years. But seeing MK, maybe a lunch at the castle should still make their day.

we are using the same FE from the last cruise.. although I might take stockings for the kids door. (since they will be across the hall.) all of our signs on our door have our names on them.. so they dont take a walk. I still have some of the signs. John will be beyond thrilled to decorate 2 doors. :rotfl2:
I would post pics.. but I am not good at that either. ( they are on my fb page.. does that count??)

someone from our last cruise almost had their FE taken and their names were monogrammed on it..... luckily it was zip tied!
we did have stuff "supposedly" taken out of our fe's.

we got a bunch of magnets etc in our fe with our cruise logo on it. -- loved these!!
a bunch made shirts etc with the logo. ( I am not that creative etc... or I would have made the shirts.. maybe this next cruise!!)

I am creative in some ways, but not in the slightest in others. Example: I can not sew, at all! I think it's a mind block for me. I took Home Ec in school (Do they even teach that anymore?), did okay with cooking but only managed to sew one dreadfully ugly skirt which I promptly disposed of. I REALLY wish I could sew, but I have zero talent in that area. I don't even sew on buttons! :sad1:

Nothing of mine that was "personalized" has been swiped from my stateroom door, so I'll just make certain that my name is somewhere on everything! :cool1:

If people want to be mean they will even take personalized things. We have had a few things disappear from our door and possibly from our FE but that won''t stop me from having fun.

Yes. Funny thing is that on my first few cruises there was that "Disney" magic feeling that made the ship seem immune to "bad people." I felt I could trust everyone, and I'm normally very hesitant to trust others. Yet the Disney atmosphere of the ships was too good for me to imagine anything bad happening.

I guess the worst of it was that it obviously wasn't done by prankster kids. I had everything up so high that only an adult could reach. That's why I view it as a "crime" and "theft" instead of some little kid maybe seeing something he wanted and swiping it. But I think it's truly awful that anyone would steal an FE (or its contents), and especially those customized or personalized.

Still, I DO want to say that most of the time no one will bother your door decor or FE. It isn't like it is a common occurrence at all. There may be a few "bad apples," but hopefully they'll be on a different deck than any of us!

on our last cruise, I had everyone's name done in a character from someone on the other board... well our kids would move them every time we left. ;) our magnets were always moved around etc too. we never knew whose name would be where. it became a game by the end. ( putting the names upside down) our door was always easy to spot!!

I have fun walking around the ship and seeing how everyones door is decorated. :) (a bunch of us had message boards on our doors too and it was fun to get messsages )
the kids asked for that again too. :)

Dh doesnt get it.. but he did wear our double dip lanyard!!

That was the reason I first started decorating the door - to easily spot my stateroom. But after the first few sailings I have usually booked in 7626 or 7628, so I'm sort of on automatic pilot! :sail:

All the door decorations and FEs make the corridors a lot more interesting. I love it! It's fun to notice things about the occupants from viewing their door decor - - DISers, first-time cruisers, Mickey fans, pirate family, Princess people, Chip 'n' Dale Cruisin' Nuts . . . :goodvibes

I agree, the atmosphere has changed but I still love DCL.

I'm not sure if it's changed too much. I think the FEW "bad apples" were always there. It's human nature. Even Disney can't be perfect, but it's close enough for me! :thumbsup2

It is a shame people can't just enjoy their vacation, and not be mean spirited. It doesn't make sense, you are there to have fun - why steal? We ran into unkind people on our WDW vacation last year - but the nice people sure outnumbered them. I would hope the cruise enviroment would be the same.

I'm not creative. Far from it. But I've made shirts & magnets with the designs from those very creative people over on the DISign board. My DDs do get tickled about having their own shirts. But they get greedy too. LOL. I printed out some to make shirts for myself this year, and they wanted those too! They already have more than they'll probably wear this trip.

I wish I could sew - but I'm a bit of a klutz. I have two left feet and two left thumbs. I'm the type that would sew myself into the item on accident.

That's still better than any attempt I could make! :rotfl2:
