12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Always nice to hear positive feedback about a dining establishment. I don't know when we'll get back to WDW (2010 is DCL and we are working on Alaska for 2011), so I wanted to try something that looked different & fun. Last year we did Marrakesh - when I saw a clip on utube of Beirngarten - it seemed a nice, new choice for us. Looks like fun as well.

We didn't make it to Toy Story Mania, somehow I doubt we will this year either since we'll be getting there late. We got to DHS at opening, but our fast passes for for 4 hours later. My family was whining to leave before our time slot. So I gave them to another family of 4 that ws coming in as we were leaving.

toy story is a lot of fun!! ( it was John jrs favorite movie for years!!!)

we still have one more dining place to come up with for our reservations. I think we may go back to Cape May.. havent been there in a few years! or maybe we should try something new?
I keep saying we should go to Liberty Tavern.. havent been there yet.

I am off to the American Girl store... it is right near us now... I somehow do not think this is a good thing. :)

It's not a good thing the store is near you? LOL. We just got a brochure in the mail last night. My DDs had never seen the American Girl Dolls before - now they both want one. Sigh. I think the nearest store to us is Dallas.

We are trying several new places this year (not hard to do since we've only been to WDW once). One of the ones I'm most looking forward to is Hoop Dee Doo Revue. The reviews sound like a lot of fun.

Liberty tree is a good place to eat trditional Thanksgiving meal. We had it for Christmas day in 2006. As far as American Girls Good Luck LOL my Daughter started out with the bitty baby and now has two American Girl Dolls thanks to crazy relatives for Christmas this past year lol. She still loves the Bitty Baby the best. A little less pricey but still expensive. Good Luck with the store. I will be back in 7 days to im sure alot of reading and a trip review for you all. Have a great week.

The girls had been to the American girl store in Chicago.. absolutely insane. the one here is anchored to the mall. This afternoon I was the only customer in the entire store!!! :) Natalie needs a new fall jacket and they had a really cute one there (and one for the doll). with the weather around here.. it could be a Christmas present!! :)

The girls both have a few dolls. and a boat load of accessories, but they play with them all the time, so I dont mind as much!! :)

We havent done too many restaurants outside the parks. ( I have heard good things about the Hoop dee doo.).

Jenn have a blast at Disney!! :) are you able to do a Halloween party?

No kids this trip so may not do the party not sure but i have my goofy pirate ears ready ;) and thank you :)

:welcome: WELCOME, Cyndi & daughter! I added you to our official cruiser list on our Chip 'n' Dale's Cruisin' Nuts website. Please correct me if needed and I will add whatever info you choose to provide for the list (your DD's first name, dining time, stateroom or deck, fish extender or not). Thanks!

We look forward to you sailing with us! :sail:

Did anyone watch DCL's 2011 announcement?

I was floored. I've been reading/researching NCL and Princess for 2011 - as we want to go to Alaska. And now DCL is going. On the one hand, I imagine they will cost more $ and going via Vancouver would also cost more $ for airfare. . .but on the other, I know the kids would have a great time cuz it's Disney.

I have been wanting to go to Alaska too. :)

hmmm maybe that will be my 40th bday gift. The cruise in Dec 10 is Johns 40th bday.

LOL

I think you should. 40 is a birthday to celebrate!

In 2011, I'll tell DH we can do DCL instead for my birthday too. :) I'll be 48. . .ouch. That hurt even typing it.

DH's dream is Alaska. He doesn't really care what cruise line we take - but it's my job to pay for it. . .and I can only hope DCL isn't a big, big jump from NCL/Princess. Flying to Vancouver instead of Seattle doubles the airfare right there. But our DDs are such Disney fans. . .the memories do seem worth it.

I just looked up airfare from Atlanta to Vancouver... ouch!!!!! it is probably half the price of the cruise!!:scared1:

we plan on going to Hawaii next summer too.. big year of vacations for us. this is our reward for John travelling for a year to Philadelphia prior to moving. we have half the airfare for it. ( free hotel room.)

guess he better start travelling even more if we want to go to Alaska :lmao:

My mom is coming to visit us this weekend.. our first visitor since we moved almost 3 mos ago. :)

I would LOVE to cruise Alaska, but as with others, airfare from FL to BC is expensive, and that's before we even have an idea what DCL will charge for sailing Alaska.

I am glad Alaska was their choice, but am curious about them sending the Wonder (or even if they had chosen the Magic). Several years ago at one of the "old" (totally different from the recent) Castaway Club receptions, the ship's captain was asked if there was any chance Alaska would be the next destination. He said no, not until there was a new ship designed a bit differently, because there were not enough indoor/enclosed areas on the ship for relaxing and recreation in Alaska temperatures. I have not checked lately, but I recall him pointing out that in summer the highs in most areas are in the mid-fifties to low sixties, with lows in the forties - and that's before any wind chill. That would be heaven to me, as I crave cooler temps, but many cruisers don't. Guess that's why most of the large ships sailing Alaska do tend to have more enclosed deck areas.

But for me - Bring on Alaska! It's the one place I probably wouldn't perspire! :lmao:

Does anyone here have any kids who would be willing to figure out all the words to Chip 'n' Dale's Vacation song and send them to me so I can post them on our Cruisin' Nuts website?

I know most of it, but there are certain lines with a few words I'm not sure of. Just thought it would also help gets kids involved, if they want to help. If not, hopefully I'll eventually get around to it.

Thanks!

Disney did announce when the Wonder goes in for dry dock, they will be adding an enclosed cafe - built specifically for viewing Alaska from the indoors. Not sure what else they will add, or if they will add anything.

DH and I have been looking at Alaska for a few months now, for 2011. I was going back and forth between Princess (enclosed pool) and NCL (better price). I'm not sure if we will be able to afford DCL, since they seem to out price everyone, but if we can - even without the indoor pool that will be what we choose. We know DCL can provide a good time for us, we love characters. :)

I asked the TA to price out a cruise for us - hoping it pans out. And hoping the 50% deposit is still good since we are heading to WDW in 2 months and I don't want to pay too much right now. Need spending $ for this vacation. :) Lots of it. LOL

Cool! I missed that as I've been doing too much multi-tasking with my mind lately - LOL. That will help, and as I said, I prefer to be out in a bit of cool weather! :)

My sister sailed Alaska on Princess last year and absolutely loved it! I've never done anything but DCL, but have heard great things about Princess. I wouldn't mind trying one of NCL's newer ships.
