12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

The travel agent I spoke to went to Alaska on Princess a few months ago -spoke very highly about it. She didn't have young kids though, so I missed out on hearing a review of the kid's club.

I was settled on the NCL Pearl for 2011. I liked the 2010 itinerary and prices. Was just waiting for them to come out with their 2011 schedule.

DCL hasn't even announced prices and I'm already going back and forth with pros/cons. If the prices are not completely outrageous - I may have to flip a coin.

Here is the information about the cafe being added to the Wonder:

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Café will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Café is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

The Outlook Café sounds great! Do you know if it will be for everyone, or only adults like the Cove Café (since the staircase will connect with the Cove)? Since they mention "retreat" and beverage or "cocktail," I'm thinking it may be adults only.

I haven't seen anything that said for sure. But most of the speculation was adult only - which makes sense to me. I wonder though if they would allow kids during glacier viewing times or not. I know some other ships that go to Alaska have enclosed pools in the spa area, which is adult only - and some of those will allow kids at certain times only, but some do not. Will be interesting to see what DCL does.

As a parent, I like adult only areas. LOL. But children would benefit from viewing the glaciers while warm as well.

Hopefully someone that goes on the Wonder after the drydock will be able to share.

Shari .... send me the song.. my girls are pretty good at decoding. :)

The Alaska cruise does sound wonderful......it will just depend on the prices.

has anyone been to Kona or Narcoosees for dinner? we have one more time slot for a dinner and wanted to try something new! :)

John just upgraded us to the Polynesian.. but we are not telling the kids.... a big surprise for them.

lil John has never stayed at a hotel on the monorail. --- his favorite ride when he was little was the monorail. :thumbsup2

Congrats on upgrading to the Poly! lol - I remember being a little kid at Disneyland and having to use an attraction ticket to ride the monorail. I'm glad they don't charge extra for that now! :teleport:

Huzzah! We just got off our first ever cruise on Sunday - on the Wonder. We knew after just a couple of hours on the ship that we would be booking another cruise before we left. Hubby wanted to have something with Christmas decorations (I have no idea why - that is soooo unlike him) so we went with the Dec. 4th sailing. Three days was way too short, we are looking forward to 7 days. I just found this thread - looks like there's 50 pages to check up on - sheesh! Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

We will be in the Main Seating for dinner, our stateroom is 7584, and hope to do a FE this go round. :)

To everyone else Im back!!! I had a great trip!! I tried the Grey Goose Slushie it was great nice lemon flavor. Fried Ice Cream YUMMY!! was definetly interesting give it a try. Not a snack credit and its to the right of the American Pavillion. We didnt do the Halloween party due to dinner reservations. Glad to be home and still planning my Thanksgiving trip. Cant wait to ride space mountain once its redone. But over all we had a great time.

Since I did not sail this year, I completely forgot that they discontinued the "early immigration" requirement on the Eastern Caribbean sailings. Yaaaaaay! No more dragging myself out of bed early to appear in the Walt Disney Theatre! It was no big deal except that it discouraged me from staying up late the night before to enjoy the ship's activities. Now, no worries! Anyone ready to party? party:

We really don't have to get up real early on St. Thomas morning? Cool, I went golfing at Mahogany Run that day and played terrible. The course is fantastic though. Is anyone else golfing ? We will be on the boards more after the holidays.

Does anyone here have any kids who would be willing to figure out all the words to Chip 'n' Dale's Vacation song and send them to me so I can post them on our Cruisin' Nuts website?

I know most of it, but there are certain lines with a few words I'm not sure of. Just thought it would also help gets kids involved, if they want to help. If not, hopefully I'll eventually get around to it.

Thanks!

We are back from Lake Powell and had a wonderful week. We are out of school till October so I will have Mac work on this :rotfl:

Shari,
Mac is almost done with her version of the song. There were a few lines we weren't sure about but she is typing it up to post it. I think it is pretty close.:thumbsup2
