12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Brrrrr! 8° here this morning. I can't remember the last time my students got to go outside for recess. The news last night said our city has used 75% of the salt and snow plow budget for the season and it's not December yet:eek:

I am SO ready for this. It even makes the 30+hours of work it takes to get ready for a sub for the week worth it!:cool1:

Travel safe everyone. We can't wait to meet all of you!

I am now -4 on my weight loss goal so bring on the creme brulee! Well at least one ;)

Steph

I updated the 'Munk Walk participants. :thumbsup2

I think I have gained 10 lbs since Halloween! First my mom bought candy that was the one and only kind of candy I like (and never buy to avoid the temptation). That meant the leftovers were consumed by me. Then came lots of errands and eating out at least every other day. Then came my grown nephew for a week - which covered my mom's B'day, Thanksgiving two days later, more dining out plus cooking and more consuming. We finally finished all the desserts and now my mom mentions all the food on the Magic. I could handle that mentally except that shortly after it ends will come Christmas and a couple more weeks of FOOD with emphasis on DESSERTS. Oh, my . . . I think my New Year's resolution will be to not eat for a week in January! :scared1:

I am also amidst converting a small bedroom to a media room/home office. My mom bought me a wonderful leather console sofa to start my redecorating. It's the kind with the two incredibly comfy full recliners with a storage console and big cup holders in between. Awesome combined birthday/Christmas present!

Also continuing with the Christmas decorating. Like most here, I need a vacation and RELAXATION. Bring it on! :goodvibes

Wow, that leather sofa sounds nice!

I can't wait to get away from our users for a while, even if it means a lot of work when I get back to bring things in order and back to speed.

I would like to try to lose some weight -- maybe I'll have to join you for that fitness walk, or at the least some time on a treadmill in the fitness center.

I know what you mean re overeating and desserts. I finally threw out the pumpkin pie. I was the only one eating it and if I kept it, I would have eaten it all.
We use the stairs on the ship so that helps us a little and the portions are small ;) .

Any time I've sailed alone I've always used only the stairs, never an elevator. However, these last two cruises with mom, she didn't want to go alone in the elevator and couldn't take the stairs, so it was elevators all the way for us. Now I'm worried that, with bad knees anyway (ski racing, equestrian sports & taekwondo in my distant past!) and out of practice for stair climbing, that idea may not be a good one for me this time. At least hoping to navigate them between my Deck 7 and Deck 9 though. ;)

3 more days of work then off we goooooooo :) May take off Friday night wont be able to sleep any way and have a 3 hour drive to the airport :( I may arrive a little tired flight leaves at 630 am :) But I will be there thats all that matters :)

I may/may not join you for the walk. I mentioned it to Mike to come with me.. he just laughed like I was completely insane. He does Tae Kwon Do, but no other exercise and if he won't do it the rest of the year, vacation is definitely out.

My mother lives around Baltimore, she will not be happy to hear about the snow (good thing you all are getting out early).. she leaves for Florida for January & February to run away from the snow.

Mike is running the ER for 12 hours today and a 12 tomorrow, then he is off... I run over a 100 websites (so unless I am physically removed from a computer - I never stop working or get paid time off) which means, I am working until someone tears the Blackberry out of my hands at 4 pm on Saturday as we leave national waters. Then give me a drink and comfort for the next 24 hours as withdraw hits.

Fyi.. if you see me typing next week on my ipad.. I'm not really working.. I am writing a book about how to start your own businesses and work from home. It is more a hobby than a job - so it doesn't count as work.

Tanya,

I know what you mean about ripping tech from your hands -- I do tech support for a university, and have done so for the private sector, they feel like different beasts to me.

I'll be glad to leave my droid on airplane mode and only use my laptop to record the events for my trip report, as well as pulling down pics from my camera in case I fill the memory card (I'll have two 8 gig SD cards with me, mainly because my camera can do 720p HD videos).

I am going to be curious how well Johns work blackberry works (since he has international service on it.) because he is always on it. :rolleyes1

the munks walk sounds like fun... I might try and join one day.

we take the stairs as well most of the time too. we should get more exercise this time since the buffet will be 3 decks up instead of 1.

I wish I had some Thanksgiving leftovers.... pumpkin pie sounds good. my mil made it this year and it was awful... shhhh dont tell John. :rotfl2:

I'm leaving my cell at home. The restaurant will be fine without me. It's so nice to have people cater to me instead the other way around.

The weatherman is calling for a chance of light snow mix on Sunday, but that's OK, I'll be where it is warm. with y'all.

We've got MVMCP scheduled for Dec 12 and weather.com predicts rain that Sunday after we get back. Please NO RAIN !!!!

Disneyrrfic Frank. I hope the weather holds out. Are you staying on property?

We're at POP. I just checked a web site on St Thomas, there's 8 cruise ships in port that day. We are first in and the first out of port

Wow...last update I knew was that there were 6 in port including us. I'm still glad I'm going with Disney for our excursions there. Especially with tendering. I just hope that we can do the skyway to paradise point -- I'd love to see the Magic from up there in port.

We're just gonna walk around town, paradise point being a must. I was going to go golfing, but the excursion price has doubled since 2007. I love to golf but it would cost me nearly $400. That's too much.

Wow, I didn't realize it cost that much to golf.. we usually stick w/putt putt. That is even more expensive than diving.

We are doing our first/only disney excursion in St.Thomas/St. John. It is literally an all day snorkeling and several beach trip and I did not want to worry about tendering and getting back in time. Big fear.. ship leaving without me!

We will be in town on Sunday for MVMCP, but not going. I hear Seaworld has a holiday special that weekend and that is where we can be found. Monday we are doing Discovery Cove..and then Aquatica (depending on weather) or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay the remainder of the week. Since we live near Busch Gardens Williamsburg, we have the passes where you can get in all the parks for free.. so since we are doing Disney on the ship, we were sticking the SeaWorld/Busch for the remainder of the week.

We considered staying around until the 17th to watch the shuttle launch, but Mike has a meeting at the hospital that night, and my family reunion is on the 18th.. so we will probably just drive overnight from the 16th to 17 th. I'm disappointed it isn't being launched while we are there.

Just finished printing name tags!!! Now, to program 2 weeks in advance on my radio station so I don't have to worry about it while I am gone - and I can go to bed!
