<----in need of advice. We're going to WDW Sat, Sun, Mon after the cruise but haven't told DS(Ryan,12). He knows about the cruise and thinks we're going home after the cruise. Do we:
A)tell before we leave home on Friday
B)tell before we leave the ship on Saturday
C)tell during the cruise
D)don't tell until we pull up to POP Century

I say surprise him with the drive up.

What you could do is tell him you need to buy something at Down Town Disney, and drive by the POP, and say you need to use the rest room.

I say go with your instincts. Different people have different reactions to surprises. I hate surprises, but would be happy to be surprised by winning the lottery or a contest. For nearly everything else, I like to be well-informed in advance. Only you know your son. If he's a real "planner," go with "A." If he LOVES being surprised, go with "D." If the timing wouldn't matter to him, "B" or "C" would be fine. I'm sure he'll be happy in any case!

Surprise him with the drive up but keep your camera handy for the perfect surprise face shot, those are priceless.

We really don't need to get to the port early, I just like to get there and know nothing can go wrong. We have our Palo and Spa reservation. We have the cabin we want and don't need an upgrade. Nothing we have to get done. We drive to the ship and I always go early so that if the car breaks down or we get a flat tire or there is an accident ahead and traffic is stopped, we have time to fix the problem and still get on board before last call! I was watching a show on cruising where they followed a cruise ship from docking in the AM to when they sailed away. There were people who showed up with out passports, yikes. There were people who showed up at exactly 4:00 and were not allowed to board because the check in process takes a while and you have to be "on board" by 4:00 not just get to the terminal by then. Anyway, I just feel better waiting there and knowing nothing can keep me off the ship!

Who should we keep an eye out for at the terminal? I hope to be there around 10ish (shuttle from CI & S) and hopefully be among the first few groups to board. Anyone else think they will there that early? I will have a kid's scavenger hunt w/me and copies for other kids. We will have Crusin Nut Name tags on.. so hunt us down. Last cruise the Dis Board group ended up in the back right corner of the terminal near where the kids check in. If anyone wants to meet us there it seems like a good place to meet!

Tanya- we will look for you there. My kids are excited about the scavenger hunt!

Ditto! She spends more time texting or on the phone with your girls than most of her friends here!! Too cute! I think they really are "sisters in other states"

Well the bad luck continues in Pgh.. my dad fell off my aunts room this morning. (ice again the culprit). he is in surgery right now to repair a separated shoulder, he also has a broken heel and broken ribs.

I am buying my parents de icer and bubble wrap for Christmas!! (my parents are divorced and have spouses to take care of them.. if not, they would be in big trouble!!) and what are the chances of 2 falls in 10 days? I am glad they both are okay and their injuries are not worse! I just feel bad I am in Atl and cant help out!

GolfnPirate I am all about surprises!!! keep the suspense going. we surprised our kids with a trip in May! and an upgrade last November!

Oh my, I'm so sorry! Hope everything goes well with the surgery. My DH was on the roof last weekend putting up Christmas lights and I just had this image of him falling off. Your Dad is the 4th one I've heard about this year.

We surprised him last year for his birthday. We woke him up at 4am with a talking Mickey Mouse card saying "you will have a fun and swell time today" we added "in Disney World" He thought we meant in the coming months. Talk about a shocker. He talked about it all week, how everyone knew but him. I think I want to tell him the last nite. But DH (golfnpirate) wants to wait. Guess I will have the camera ready. Its my big mouth that has too keep shut. LOL Cant wait to see everyone. Just finished the packing, only things left are the last minute things. Off to decorate.

Tanya- we will look for you there. My kids are excited about the scavenger hunt!

I guess I will bounce between there and the tvs to find everyone. I will make sure I have my cruisin nut name tag on my lanyard and I will be wearing a white homemade t-shirt that have all the disney characters wearing pirate outfits and saying the ship, date, and Eastern Caribbean on it.

Mike and Sianna will also be wearing the same t's so I am thinking we won't be hard to miss.

That and I will have a huge black bag w/my ipad and a rolling cooler filled with alcohol.. I am so ready for this trip!!!

Ha Ha. It will snow here in Baltimore on Saturday. Guess we picked the right time to go. One more 12 night shift tonight and I am on vacation. Safe travels to everyone leaving in the next few days. See ya Saturday

One more day for us - we leave tomorrow night and arrive at Sartoga Springs around 10:30pm or so...Not sure what time we will arrive at the port on Saturday, but I can not wait to meet everyone. One more work day for me after today. As I expected my co-worker is sick again. Coughing, hacking, sneezing, eyes watering, much nose blowing, of course her usual is...it's just sinus. Maybe she will go out for another cigarette soon and get lost or locked out. She doesn't get paid for sick days (part time) so she comes in sick ALL the time and lies about it.
Thinking about calling my doctor for a prescription to take with "just in case".
