According to Expedia, they said that my rate is with them, Disney would never be involved or know what my rate was, just that I was all paid up through Expedia. It would be Expedia's loss if they got the rooms at a higher price and gave it to us for less. If it was the package with tickets, I think it would be a different story.

I think this says it all. I wasn't sure if Expedia was a reseller (i.e., they buy blocks of rooms from Disney) or if they were just acting as a middleman.

If Expedia has actually bought the blocks of rooms from Disney wholesale (which many sites like lodging.com do), it's no longer Disney's concern.

I noticed the rates ($110 for std view/$164 for savannah view) too on Expedia. Since I like to have the UPH, I was going to book on Expedia, but then found out I had to pay the full amount ($3400) upon reservation.

I then called WDW, they offered me the same package (2 rooms, 5 nights savanah view) for the same price (actually the cancellation waiver was cheaper at WDW). I pay a $200/room down payment within 30 days and the rest 45 days before arrival. I think they also offered room only for the same prices ($110 for std view/$164 for savannah view). In that case, the down payment would only be the first night.

PS, I did the math, they charge you regular advance purchase rates (posted on the Disney website) for the UPH.

Just checked my dates again, and other dates within Feb and they force the uph on now. So, no longer an issue with Expedia.
