I've been wondering how you were doing. Not well, I see. I've been packing up my mom's house for 2 months, and I hate it. Not that my sisters would help. Why do people magically think it will all get done? I feel for you, rest up, put your feet up, calm down and don't worry about it.

I hope you can decompress up at the lake. You did the right thing by leaving and finding some space to yourself! You have been working your butt off trying to get the new house ready and pack up the old house. Have you thought about hiring a moving company to pack up the rest of the stuff? This is all too much for one person to do.

I can totally sympathize with you about your SIL leaving everything to the last minute.....my DH is handles things in a similar way ~ I am a planner and he is not. sometimes it makes my life very difficult

I can't imagine the stress you are under. Remember to only do what you can do. Let the rest go. Hire people to help with what you cannot do, or leave it for your SIL to figure out on his own. Just do what you can and don't worry so much about the rest. Would it be possible to get a storage unit for some of the unnessary stuff until the house is ready to move into? Then it would be out of the way? Check out emove.com too if you want to get people to help move or pack. I thought they were great.

I am sorry it got to the point you lost your composure with your SIL, but maybe that will light a fire under his butt. You have all had a lot on your plate but it should be getting better soon, once the move is officially over and the time pressure is off.

Yes.. I have a feeling that soon I'll be living here at the lake 7 to 8 months out of the year and the rest of the time in Florida - only flying back for the holidays..

So sorry to hear that things aren't going well. Moving is stressful enough, but this really sounds bad! He needs to get his act together. I know you usually get along well with him. Good that you went to the lake to cool off.

Moving is sooooo stressful. He did work his butt off, didn't he, getting your house ready to sell? Do you need to cut him a break? Someone sure has to cut you one.
