We are planning an 11 night split stay for next July. Our home is BCV, and we want 8 nights there, and then we are hoping to add 3 nights at AKL. My plan is to book all 11 nights at BCV at the 11 month mark, and then change 3 of the nights to AKL at the 7 month mark (that way if it is booked we still have BCV).

This morning I booked the first 7 nights. Tomorrow morning I will add the 8th. How should I proceed from there. Should I continue adding nights daily or should I book the last 3 nights as a separate reservation?

I am a bit confused regarding the best way to handle this.

You can book each extra night daily by calling member services until you get to 11 nights or you can book a totally separate reservation for only 3 days online, it's up to you. Regardless of what you do, you will need to call member services at the 7th month mark to change the reservation unless you have enough points to make a new 3 day reservation for AKL when the time comes.

AKV shouldn't be a problem booking at 7 months.

One benefit of booking those 3 days as separate is that it will allow you to book online at the 7 month mark because you will be able to cancel it and then immediately rebook. If it is all one, you would have to call to have MS modify your original one.

I agree with this. Plus, if you end up keeping the 3 days at BCV for some reason, I believe you can just call MS and they'll combine the 2 reservations into 1.

Yes, they will do that. I had it done recently...

We just returned this week from a similar split stay. We did 7 nights BCV & 2 nights AKV.

I don't think you'll have any problem getting AKV. We didn't book either of those resorts until 7mos. out (SSR is our home resort) & did not have any trouble.
