First, thanks so much for all the advice I've gotten from these boards. Both for my vacations and recently my DVC purchase!

I have a question I was hoping my DisFriends would be able to help with...

My home resort is VWL and I want to book a vacation for Christmas '12. We are planning on arriving on the Sunday after Thanksgiving (11/25/12). Which means my 11-month window for my home resort is on 12/25/11 - Christmas Day.

I can call MS on Christmas Day (Sunday), but no one will be there to answer my call. What is my best plan of attack for getting a reservation the week after Thanksgiving, when my 11 month window opens on Christmas Day? Can I try calling on Christmas Eve (are they even open)? Would I be better calling on Monday 12/26/11? Should I try writing an email to to MS a few days before and then calling on that Monday 12/26/11? Or is that week not quite "Christmasy" yet, seeing as how it is still November?

I'd appreciate any insight or experiences you may have had with making a ressie on a holiday?

I would definately call on the 24th. Maybe even the 23rd. The worst that can happen is they tell you to call back on the 26th!

They will not accept a reservation arriving on 11/25 until 12/26. Anytime they are closed for a holiday, you have to wait until the next day.

That also applies if your arrival date is at the end of the month. If you want to arrive on 1/31, your 11 months would be 2/31, which there isn't so you have to wait until 3/1.

Don't fret about it too much. You'll be arriving when a lot of other people will be leaving so you should be ok. Of course, the only downfall is that you are trying to make reservations at the smallest DVC resort, but I still think if you call right away the day that MS is open you'll get a room. At the very least get yourself on a waitlist if there's no openings, you have a lot of time for that to come through.

Don't worry about it. Everyone else has the same issue. So you will be on equal playing ground. No one else can book this date any earlier than you.:cloud9:

Except for those who are checking in at an earlier date and staying through the dates you will be there. For instance, when we visit WDW during that time we always check in on Thanksgiving and stay the entire next week. Our 11 month window would be 4 days or so before yours. This allows me to book a room before you.

Thanks for the info DebbieB... Guess I'll sit tight and call them first thing on Monday morning.

Because VWL is the smallest resort, and it is while the Christmas decorations are up, I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that things will be okay... I mean really, it is 11 months out, right?

Yes, you are right... we are all on equal playing ground. Except for folks like magicaldisney, but maybe those folks are planning for a long weekend and are gonna check out on Sunday. :rolleyes1

Thanks again for all the help. :flower3:

DebbieB - The walk to Hess wasn't bad at all. Thanks for that info... I did enjoy my stay at BWV! So much so MommaBear wants to get a contract for BWV. And she is a hard sell.
