Do you call for ressies 11/7 months fro day of check in or check out?

TIA

Sarah

Just to be clear, it's from the date of check out....not the date of the last night.

One additional thought ... If you are trying for a GV or a standard view BW room or an extremely popular time of year, you might consider calling day-by-day to make your reservation. Start calling 11 months out from the morning after your first night, then call back the next day and add to your reservation, and so on until your reservation is complete.

so I have a reservation for SSR(home) for 12-26 thru 1-2-I want to try for a 2 bdrm at BCV-I know this an extremely busy time but I really want to stay even though we have never stay at SSR (obviously) but the location of BCV at this time of year and SAB and having my parents with us for their first trip is just very appealing to me-and I have always wanted to stay there. In response to the last poster-they said to call each day for a one day at a time ressie, so how does that work do I just cancel the day that I get a ressie at BCV and then keep trying hoping for a block of days at BCVand if I can't get all of them I can keep the days left at SSR- what if I can only get one day at BCV with my daily calling and I cancel the SSR for that day-if it's in the middle of the week can I get my one day at SSR back-am I understanding this? It seems risky!

It can be a bit of a pain, but for the busy seasons, sometimes its the only way....

Our last trip to BWV, I booked both a 2BR-Standard and a Studio-Standard day by day...

Initially, I was able to get every night with the Standard views other than the first night.... So I booked the first night at BWV with Preferred views, and then waitlisted myself for the Standard view...

A few months later, that first night came through, and we were all set....

With the 11/7 booking window during the busy seasons, you are almost always best off booking your home resort 11 months out, and then when the 7 month window opens, to try switching it...

You can then either: a) Get lucky and get the resort you want on the first try, b) Waitlist for the desired resort for the time period, or c) get the the desired resired for part of the trip and switch mid way through...

I would call the day before the 7 month mark and ask what availability looks like for the dates you want and then decide if you should call day by day. If they tell you some nights are not available, you may want to wait until the last day and then waitlist, holding onto your SSR reservation.

so if you waitlist-then you still have your SSR ressie and hope that BCV will become available thru cancellation or something right? sorry still a newbie at this

That's correct, you have your SSR reservation and be on the waitlist for BCV. If BCV comes through, you can then cancel SSR. You don't have to worry about having to move back and forth if the waitlist doesn't come through. Again, talk to member services either the day before or the day of the 7 month mark of the first night and see what it looks like. If they say they have availability for all nights, then you have a good chance of getting it by calling day by day.

Correct... You can hedge your bet and keep your original SSR reservation, but still waitlist yourself for BCV...

We just did this with Vero Beach and HHI... My DW and I wanted to spend 5 days offsite, and we were able to book the 11 month window for VB without a problem... When the 7 month window hit, we waitlisted a 1BR at HHI for the exact time period we had the reservation at VB...

Three weeks ago, the HHI waitlist came through, and we had MS automatically cancel the VB reservation...
