Morning Nanas for all of you east coasters. We are suppose to start getting rain from Gustav today and tomorrow. Not much going on today. I think I may get my resume and a cover letter ready, so I can start looking for a job.

The big news in our area today is the plea deal with the mayor of Detroit. He has pleaed gulity to a few charges and will be leaving office. That is all that is on TV this morning.

Just got a text from Greg (JollyG), and someone dug into the cable in his area, and he has no internet access. He said they are hopeful that service will be restored at some point in time!

Jeff - Glad to hear everything went as planned. Take is easy so you can be all better for the cruise.

OK so I have a solution to all of you affected by Hurricans, Snow, Earthquakes, Torrandos, etc. MOVE TO VEGAS So it hasn't been below 100 in the past 4 month. I'm telling ya it's so nice to not have to worry about extreme weather...almost ever. Oh yeah, and we have so many Starbucks you would never have to suffer again.

Were you in Long Island for Hurrican Gloria? I was young but I remember it. It was so exciting. We couldn't wait to get out of the house and look at all the damage. I guess when you're a kid distruction is alot more exciting.

Slept pretty well last night. Even though I have to sleep sitting up I found it to be fine. There's no place like home. But I'm still pretty tired.

Was going to try to back off on the pain meds today but I guess it's not time yet. I held off an hour and then when I finally gave in and took it, i felt 100 percent better. Guess that's why they give em to you.

Still not working as I have decided to take the rest of the week off and try to jump back in a bit on Monday or Tuesday. This was my first surgery ever (and I hope it is my last).

Good morning Nanas! I'm off to another day of watching storm tracks, checking pump stations, and running through equipment inventories to be sure everything is repaired. Pretty weird job, huh?!

Thanks for the pixie dust from all of Virginia Beach. We usually do okay in these storms because we tend to be shielded by the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But there's always a few houses that flood and trees that come down and crush people's cars and homes. People get really crazy when that happens. I had one citizen threaten bodily harm to me when my crews couldn't replace her drainage pipe with a larger one in the height of a storm. I guess I can't blame her because she had 3 feet of water throughout her house. It was a little scary, though.

Well, off to the day...we're on Magic-watch for you guys up here. She should be pulling into the shipyard in the next few days for her makeover. We'll keep you posted.

hi Jeff,
good to hear from you. Stay on the meds for a couple more days then back off slowly. You'll heal up faster if you can relax, thats what the pills are for
