Wow, what a difference a day makes?

My wife called me yesterday evening on her way home from work and told me she had something to tell me.....(no she's not pregnant!)

The owner of the company she works for asked her to be the new director of nursing!

This is both good new and bad.....the good news is that her salary will more then double.....the bad news is our vacation "time frame" is now in question?!

Anyway she and I took a drive today without the kids trying to decide what to do. My wife really enjoys what she does and likes taking care of patients and really can't see herself behind a desk giving orders. I told her..."but honey, you give me and the kids orders all the time" .......she didn't think it was very funny

Any who......she's suppose to meet with the owner again tomorrow to discuss things further?.....

She also told me that her doctor said she needed surgery, so she's scheduled for surgery after we get back from Vegas next month!! (nothing serious)

I keep thinking I'm on the show "Let's make a deal" and I'm waiting for Monty Hall to show me whats behind curtain #3!!

Congrats to your wife Greg, it's a hard decision for her, especially in the medical field. I was a surgical coordinator for 9 years, and its stressful when you aren't only responsible for yourself. Right now, she goes to work, does what she is good at, taking care of patients and probably has it made.
Tell her Good Luck with her decision.

Leave it to Bob and my wife to blame it all on the politicians.... Anyone here thinking of bowing out of the cruise in November? Gatlinburg? The hotels are full at Disney and the planes are full and still in the air. I don't see masses of people carpooling and there are Escalades still motoring down the highways. My point is that the people in control of the prices see this and say.... ok, they're STILL taking this pretty light heartedly. Bump it again. Politicians to blame? Yep. Greedy oil barons? Yep. The majority of us? 'fraid so. To blame it on one source? Nah.....

I hope that takes the conversation off me and Bob texting each other....

Going to be a rough day at work. I have a "problem" employee that I have been attempting to deal with for several weeks now. He is on the verge of being fired, but just doesn't know it. This morning, we are going to have a conversation about his duties that will probably get very ugly.

Thank you all for your best wishes. I can't wait to head off for college. Dawn, thank you so very much for the card too. It really means a lot to me!
My mom was right, I watch spongebob sometimes... but what my mom didn't know is that I also went back to school later that day. I didn't have to learn anything, just hung out with some juniors and sophomores (no freshman though... who do you think I am?!?!) and then I stayed at my favorite teachers room and just fooled around with the computers.
Speaking of computers, I do have a new laptop. I'm actually using it right now! Its great to be outside of my room and using a computer. I'm no longer a creepy gremlin that lives in his room.
I guess I'll be missing all of you guys for this year... but I may see all of you in the future! Oh and to those who don't know me:
My name's Josh, I'm 18, I practically LIVED in the Stack (OH YEAH!) and I've been on the DCL three times (each in the same week).

Well hot as you know what here in eastern PA...and of course the AC is working great...that is....untill the electric in our area went out ....we were without power from 7:30pm-2:30am--got a little HOT in our house...well at least we aren't in trouble like the poor people out Dawn's way with the bad storms etc. so for that I am thankful

Went to the 2nd cake decorating class last night with Chelsea...easy task...just use tip #3 with medium icing and draw a straight line....was my line straight??...NOOOOO...did I crack up laughing and make my teenage daughter want to crawl under the table in embarrasement....YES!!....gosh I love this mother daughter stuff...Chelsea not so much

Greg, tell DW good luck with the decision, I have always believed that being happy in what you do is more important than the money . I am glad I am not having to make her decision Let us know what she decides.
sometimes if you tell the new boss up front you have a vacation scheduled for a certain week they will giv eit to you anyway, but without pay, it might be worth asking if she takes the job?

Moment of panic for me. I was checking my reservation so that we could link dinner with Kathy. The confirmation sheet i have from the onboard booking person had me in a category 9 which would be fine because we liked our room last cruise......but I was SURE that I had booked a verandah cabin on Deck 7 because we thought we'd be ready for a verandah (we have an 8 for our August cruise).

So I checked online and sure enough we had the cat. 5. I have no idea where the correct printout is - i probably threw it away thinking it was a duplicate -- but i guess it doesn't matter so long as what is online is correct.

So I'm wondering if we are right above a bunch o' bananaheads since so many of you are on deck 6.
