We might want to move there...after we meet you guys! You guys sound like very nice people. What church do you go to? Our church used to have Saturday night service, and we loved it; but they stopped having it. So now we go to the 11:00 one, and even without kids to get ready, we're still always late!

We get a lot of new hire engineers from Michigan. The one I am mentoring now if from there. He is Indian from New York, and went to Georgia Tech first, did not like it, and switched to Michigan, which he enjoyed. The last two engineers we brought into our department were from Michigan. Evidently it's a great engineering school.

Today was not a productive day as far as cruise preparation goes. To many other things taking priority I guess you would say . Oh well maybe tomorrow. LisaRae and Steve ... you may have already answered this, but let's say, best case scenario, that the shuttle is to land at 2:19. a) how far in advance to that do the sconic booms happen; and b) is there a range that one would have to be in to hear the booms? Thanks.

Just got back from the store, bought self rising flour, beer, vodka and different flavor martini mixes. I had the cosmo earlier at a friends house and am now having the chocolate YUM!

Having a dinner for Samantha's birthday tomorrow, so made sure we were stocked for the day

YEP, nothing like having a 13 yr olds birthday dinner and buy all flavors of martini mixes and vodka and beer to make bread.

If you are somewhere between Orlando and Port Canaveral, you should definitely be able to hear the booms.

Hello everyone

Had a busy but productive day today. My Mom and Dad came in so I spent some time with them. Then went to Michaels and Office Depot to get everything I needed to make my door magnets and finish up my BFF gifts .

Weather had been really nice here. I was coldish a couple of days ago but today is was in the 70's and sunny (of course).

I have decided to be a nice wife tomorrow and cook Joey an entire Thanksgiving dinner. We are stuck in the house because there is a race (Silverman) taking place right outside our development and traffic will be a nightmare. It's the perfect time to cook dinner and start packing. This will most likely be the last time I cook for us until we come back

Hi Nanas! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Jeff and I just came home from a great new wine bar that opened close to home. It was really nice - kind of like being in the city but out in the suburbs. Had tapas/small plate samplings and wine. Very nice! The girls were awake when we got home - so they are settling down now and I thought I would check in.

Cool about the space shuttle when we sail. Keep us updated on what to expect. I think we saw it on the launch pad one year - but visibility was not good so could not see it well. Just kind of exciting for those of us who don't live near Florida to know it will be landing while we are there. Are they in space now - or taking off later in the month maybe.

Cool about the space shuttle when we sail. Keep us updated on what to expect. I think we saw it on the launch pad one year - but visibility was not good so could not see it well. Just kind of exciting for those of us who don't live near Florida to know it will be landing while we are there. Are they in space now - or taking off later in the month maybe.

We launch next Friday at 7:55. We load experiments on the orbiter Thursday night and run an integrated verification test to make sure the payloads are receiving power from the orbiter. So, I get to work second shift a couple of days next week (which I actually love because I can sleep in.) I'll be in the Launch Control Center four hours Friday night, sitting in a straight back chair, behind my boss (who gets a comfortable chair at the communications console) hoping and praying that we launch so that I don't have to sit there another four hours prior to launch on the following day. Yes, I will be very glad when this mission is up and landed. I am the back-up on a couple early missions next year, but my next launch is scheduled for August 20, 2009.

That's nice that you can cook a nice meal for your DH. I tried to make Steve country fried steak once, and I couldn't get the flour to stick. I even tried using a mixture of egg and milk to soak the steak first and then dip it in flour, but when I cooked it the flour kept disintegrating. Steve came home and was so happy that I was cooking for him, but when I told him what was happening, he stuck his finger in the flour, and tasted it, and proclaimed, "Honey, that's powered sugar." So he called it "candied steak." He tossed it out, and made spaghetti.

It's not going to be a big one, but that Hurricane Paloma is supposedly going to turn towards Florida around Tuesday. Not a scary thing; winds are only supposed to be 25 mph, but it's WEIRD! Trying to find out if it did any damage in the Caymans.

Here's the news on Grand Cayman that I found so far:

Paloma had grown to a Category 4 with 145-mph (230-kph) winds while barging through the wealthy Cayman Islands, where it ripped roofs off houses and storm shelters and flooded streets, before heading to Cuba.

I'm glad you found that - it sounds better than what I found. We were planning to hang out on the ship in Cayman anyway, but I'm very glad that there's not much damage.
