Great!!! Sounds like a date. When it gets closer we can decide what day we want to go. Does anyone know how quickly the wine tasting books up?

Hey Ron,
You can come too. You can put beer in a wine glass and pretend. ha ha!!!

Kathy,

Looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me......beer, foofoo drinks, beer with orange slices, wine tasting, beer, girly drinks and oh....did I mention beer?? I'm ready to play......put me in coach!! Well..........exactly three weeks from today I will be telling DD's "go to bed, we have to wake up at 3:00am to make it to the airport for our flight". Just like last year I'll have that carribean christmas music jamin' thruout the house to wake them up. I can hear it now........."Christmas in the c-a-r-a-b-eeee----a-n we've got everything but snow!!"

Hi, Susan

I live in Mt. Airy, MD which is about an hour west of Baltimore. We sometimes take 17 through Fredericksburg on our way to Kings Dominion or Richmond or something. We're almost neighbors!

Our boys are the same age, too. Maybe we can introduce them to each other before they go to the kids club - it could be easier for them if they "know" someone before they get there.

I'm looking forward to the wine tasting "date"! Sorry, I don't know if and when it fills up. I'll do some browsing on the boards unless someone here knows.

Yah--my dad already has his Bob Marley cd out and ready to bring to my house the evening before for our little pre-cruise party.

I'd love to do the wine tasting thing--think I'll have to see if Shawn will watch our 7 month old--think it's only fair since he already has the following activities planned:
Sat--watch his Miami Canes play (3.5-4 hrs)
Sun--watch his St. Louis Rams play(3.5-4 hrs)
And then golfing at Mahogany Run(4 hrs. for golf
only--another couple for transportation)
So what do you think--think I deserve a little more than the Rainforest pass?? Count me in--we need to make sure we can all sign up together. My brother and his friend I think are extremely interested--and they're hilarious.......I say we get it set up!
:hyper:

Crazy Momma, DisneyGator, and Obsessed--I just posted some questions about the wine tasting on the other section of theis board so we can get the specifics!!
How fun!!!!!!

DH and I are planning on the wine tasting too. I don't know much about how it is handled, is it offered on sea days only? Sounds like a lot of fun though.:D

Ok, izzinimac and gassmandy have 2 different ideas of formal and semi formal nights. Gassmandy says it is on thursday night and sunday is the semi-formal night, which would make sense to me since thursday is the Captains Gala. Can someone please clarify?

Thanks, Gina::MinnieMo

Ok, here is another one. When we go to St. Maarten, do we still have dining as usual? So all 7 nights we rotate between the 3 restaurants? Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to make sure I plan palo for 2 nights making sure we miss our rotations in 2 different restaurants, I would hate to miss animators palate twice!

Thanks, Gina ::MinnieMo

Gina,
I agree that formal night makes more sense on Thurday, but the posts I have seen from recent returning cruisers and the most recent Navigators show Sunday as Formal and Thursday as Semi formal. I think the reason they do that is that Sunday is also the night of the Captains Reception before or after dinner in the atrium. I think it is a photo op to get pictures with the Captain in his dress uniform. From a dining standpoint, Thursday still makes the most sense for formal. One thing I have noted is that it has switched back and forth over the past year, so Lampskies may be right yet!

Regarding Palo, last I heard you could only make one dinner reservation per cabin. Some people get around that by going together as two couples with one room signing up one night for four people and the other room doing the same on a different night. You can have both a dinner reservation and brunch reservation, though. Do the brunch - I think it is much better than dinner!

Bob:

Thanks for the info! As far as Palo goes, I heard on the 7 day you could make reservations for Palo twice. But no matter, we will go twice since we have 2 different cabins and four people. I have never done the brunch but I love the dinner! The filet mignon was outstanding!

Thanks for the info!

Actually--I don't think I said anything about dress codes per night yet, but I do agree it's CONFUSING. I know it used to be Sun=semi form. and Thurs=formal(capt. gala). And then like my dad said--more recent cruisers came back and said it flip flopped, making formal now on Sunday(which I agree--I'd prefer it on Capt. gala night so I could drip some drawn butter for my lobster all over my dress--lol). BUT..........I just checked out the navigators on Barb's site for the 10/11/03 cruise (it WAS a western one though--first one after dry dock I believe) and if you scroll down per day--MONDAY was formal night and the Capt. Gala was semi-formal (thurs.). Of course they're in Key west on Sun---and we're at sea so that's why they have formal Monday while ours is Sunday. I wear a black dresses for both--and just accessorize more for formal. I think we're all entering "Operation Short Timers" so we're allowed to be confused and flustered!!!lol!:hyper: :hyper:
And definitely do the brunch--I loved the dinner--was the best one for sure--so you'll love brunch!

Gina,
Definitely try the brunch. We had never tried it until our last 7 day cruise and fell in love with it. It is overwhelming! Starts off with a "tour" by your host(ess) of all that is available. There were Alaskan King Crab Legs, already peeled shrimp much better than the ones at first lunch after boarding, all kinds of cheeses, smoked fish, salads, pastries, omlettes, on and on and on....Probably one of the best single bites I have ever taken in my life was a speciality our host brought us. They have a sweet scandanavian bread (can never remember its name) that has an almond flavoring to it. Anyway, he toasted a few pieces and brought it to the table along with pureed fresh rasberries and real whipped cream. Put those on the toast and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! After all that, you get a hot meal which typically consists of beef tenderloin, a chicken dish,or Tilapia. Of course, there is dessert, including a fruit pizza! I have to stop now - I am drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it!

I personally wanted to thank Tammy(TCROMW1013) for faithfully keeping our countdown days on the title to this thread updated. As far as I can tell we are the only one with the countdown days in the title, and I think she is the only one who can update it since she originally started this thread.

Thanks, Tammy

OOPS, sorry Amanda, it was Lampskies who posted the rotation schedule. My bad. You have made me hungry as well! I am definitely going to do the brunch. I assume reservations have to be made for those and they only happen on at sea days? You guys have really helped us a lot! It is getting so close and I am ready to go!

Gina::MinnieMo

Gina...........the first "semi-formal" dinner depends on you "rotation". Not all rotations are the same. Some of us may start saturday at "parrot cay", some may start at "luninares" and some may start at the "formal" dining area. (Tritons on the Wonder). Thus some will be "semi formal" on Sat some on Sun and some on Mon.............Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And you will not know the "rotation" until you get you KTTW card. Am I correct????

Gina, Amanda and all other wine tasters........count myself and DW Kim in. It must be a day at sea. Dw and DD's want to shop shop[ shop at ports. The last wine tasting I went to with Dw Kim was Oliver Winery near Indiana University this past summer. I couldn't allow Kim to pour the wine she didn't like in caraffe I had to drink it for her......................

Sounds like another Dis Meet at a wine tasting then!

Anyone going to try to do Brunch and High Tea? I really want to try to get High Tea, I know it is next to impossible, but I think my grandmother and I would really like it.

Hello All,

It looks like we are going to have a fun group for the wine tasting. Why don't we plan on going to the 1st wine tasting. It will probably be on Sunday. What do you think? DH and I are planning on going to brunch but, I'm not sure what day. We are going to try to get dinner reservations at Palos for Tues or Wed. Since this our 10 year anniversary we have told our DS (7) he was going to have to go to the club for a few hours while we go dinner.

I'm doing the Disney Happy Dance.

Lampskies,
Sounds like there is confusion on dining rotation and formal/semiformal nites. As an obsessive studier of old Navigator's, here is what I know about the whole subject. Rotation has no relation to Formal/Semiformal/Tropical dress nights. No matter what rotation you are on, formal night will be on Sunday and semiformal will be on Thursday. So some people will have formal in Lumieres, some in Animators Palate, and some in Parrots Cay. Same with semi formal and tropical. It all depends on where you are eating on Sunday (Formal), Tuesday(Tropical) and Thursday (Semiformal)... Thats why some folks are concerned about there rotation. The one I like best is PLAPLAP, which puts you in Lumieres for formal (Sunday), ParrotsCay for Tropical (Tuesday), and Animator's for semiFormal (Thursday). If you have LAPLAPL, you have Animators for Formal, Lumieres for Tropical, and ParrotsCay for SemiFormal. If you have APLAPLA you end up with ParrotsCay for Formal, Animators for Tropical, and Lumieres for Semi Formal. no matter what rotation, you will have the Resturant you are in regular menu the first three nights, followed by Tropicali on night 4 in all resturants, Around the World... on night 5, Captains Gala on night 6, and Best of .. on night 7.
I am so obsessive about this I have created a spreadsheet for each possible rotation which shows dates/dress/menu/character breakfast/etc so we can pick out the best days for those who want Palo brunch and Dinner.
