11/27/04 the sequel.....

I feel the same way April. Although I am ready for Xmas, I'm not too excited about it. It doesn't feel "real" yet, like it's too early to have that Xmas spirit.
The work thing may be bringing me down too, it's so busy trying to catch up from vacation (like being punished). Tomorrows the last day of work.

I dreamt last night of driving up to the port and seeing the ship, our vacation just about to start. Too bad we can't rewind life and replay the good parts.

I think a nice drink in front of the Xmas tree is in order, maybe that will help me from feeling so let down. The kids are as excited about Xmas as can be, I hope to catch their enthusiasm.

Hope you all have a magica holiday and a blessing filled New Year.

Sandy

Ditto, I too have had a hard time getting into the spirit and hope maybe I will soon. What made it worse is we watched our cruise video tonight for the first time, it was fun to see but made me miss the cruise.

Curt and Popovich - I hope you aren't getting too buried under all the snow i hear Indiana and Ohio are now getting or going to get soon!!!! My mom said tonight that we had better stay overnight at her house xmas eve because we are supposed to have an extremely cold xmas and doesn't want me to take the baby out late at night in that kind of weather. No wonder we all miss the cruise so much!!!!

I truly wish you all a wonderful holiday season and hope everyone's family stays healthy!! You will all be in my special prayers Friday night.

Kim

No, April, we are the same way. We finally motivated ourselves to put the tree up and decorate it last weekend and that was about it. We put out an Advent candle and our nativity scene but nothing else--no outside lights, no garland. Our house looks pretty stark compared to other years! Steph told the kids that I was the model they used for the Grinch. A cross between Snow White and the Grinch is just too much for my tiny mind to fathom right now! I'm also just finishing wrapping presents (of course, our DS3, Cameron, decided to unwrap nine of them, so back into the closet they go!). We are buried under 2 feet of snow this morning and they are predicting temperatures tomorrow and Christmas of 6 below zero. My 45 minute commute took 2 hours, so at least I did get to hear lots of Christmas carols! Steph also advised me that they had declared a snow emergency for our county, so technically, I could have been arrested for driving (and she thought they should have arrested me, taken me to a warm and safe jail and she'd make bail when she could get out of the driveway). But I'm safely at work, enjoying reading the thread and looking at some of the pictures I brought in with me. Hard to believe it was only three weeks ago that we were enjoying sitting on deck in shorts and a t-shirt. Everyone have a safe and Merry Christmas. We'll say a prayer for your safe travel and happy holiday this evening when we light our Advent candles.

Curt, what do you do for a living, besides xdress? LOL It has even gotten cold here in GA. We are headed to my brothers house 2mrrw. He lives in Destin FL. Gailyn, did you ever look into taking a vacation there? Remind me, and I will send you pics. The most beautiful beach I have seen in my whole life! That includes the Carribbean

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hi everyone, just wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas,
we have had snow forcast for this evening & christmas day! That would be nice but my DH is on call for gritting - that is when they go out & put grit (sand) on the roads when it is icy, so it looks like DD & i will be spending most of christmas eve & day alone, look out chocolate here i come!!

Merry Christmas !!!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday. Matt was SOOOO excited this morning. Christmas with a 5 year old is wonderful.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday.

Amanda--my long title is Health Informatics Specialist. I'm kind of like a translator of lingo. Doctors, nurses and therapists don't talk with IT people very well when they begin throwing medical lingo about and IT people don't talk with medical people when they do their techno-talk. My job is to sit in meetings and help them understand each other when they design computer systems for the hospital to use. Cross-dressing often gets their attention when they get bored during the meetings!

Ok everyone hope that Santa was good to you - now that it's over I quess it wasn't too bad although last week for me wasn't the greatest work wise. I ended up working all day Thursday and then the night supervisor had a family emergency so then worked all night as the house supervisor. Then I got called in on Christmas Eve around 5 in the evening and also Christmas day. All of you in the heath care industry can identify with this I am sure. Normally this would have stressed me out to the max since I have cooked Christmas dinnner for the inlaws since we were married but DMIL wanted to do it this year since we missed Thanksgiving with them. Boy did I luck out! DH even sent me to bed Christmas Eve and wrapped all the gifts for me. We had a great day and today I called Disney and added my mom to our reservations next year. I put her in a cat 11 across the hall from us. (I wanted to keep the cat 6 that we had so that if she can't make it for some reason I can cancel and keep our room) I added both of our kids to that reservation since it was cheaper with them in a cat 11 than a 6. I have vowed though that everything will be ready for Christmas before we leave and I won't be all stressed to the max with only a couple of weeks to go when we get back. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and everyone has a happy and prosperous New Year!

April--I'm sorry to hear about the horrific holiday schedule. I fully understand, though, having worked 18 years as a therapist. It's pretty rough on healthcare workers sometimes, especially supervisors. Fortunately, all I have to worry about now are computer system problems, and they can generally be handled from home. I'm glad you had a good support system in place to help you out. It sounds like DH and DMIL were just what you needed to make sure Christmas was tolerable. Hope everyone else had a great Christmas this year and I also hope all of you have a wonderful new Year's celebration and a great 2005!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We got 16 inches of snow on Christmas eve and then had sleet as the icing on the cake. Luckily for us, Christmas eve and Christmas day were at our house. Diane your right, Christmas with a 5 yr old is great. Nicole and Matt had such a good time and they both said they thought they heard Santa's sleigh on the roof on Christmas eve but they were too scared to get out of bed to check!!!! I think it was the sleet/hail that they heard LOL!

Greg and I also had a really hard time getting into the spirit of Christmas this year. That is so unusual for us. We didn't put up any outside lights and just minimal decorations inside. I waited until the last minute to shop and clean my house. Work was nuts etc.....

We rebooked for Nov 26th next year and if we keep the resie I have to do all shopping and decorating ahead of time!!!

Is anyone looking at Oct 14th as a possible date for '06? They seem to have a very active thread already. It's the special Western with two CC days. We'll probably plan to do a few days at WDW and MNSSHP at MK before the cruise. I'm hoping that the water temp at CC will be warmer in Oct. Anyone have input on that?

Well, it's freezing here and I miss being on the cruise. Friends of ours are leaving tomorrow for the Western Magic. I wish we were going again!

Miss all of you!

Great photos, what beach did you visit on St Thomas it looks lovely
Hope everyone had a great christmas.

Hi all! Hope everyone's holiday was merry! Curt and April, ended up in the ER xmas night with our little guy, what a freak show. It ain't so much fun on the other end as well!! He is fine, just croup.

Gailyn, Your kids are at such an awesome age for xmas, i bet it was fun!! We usually like to travel to carribean in Nov, Dec, or Jan to escape the extreme cold so October is not likely for us.

We are trying to figure out our upcoming vacations and are tossing around WDW April 15 as BIL will be playing football there then (he plays arena football for new york his name is Titcus Pettigrew for all you football fans)
Has anyone been there this time of year? Is it busy, expensive, cold??? Anyone going then? We are kind of WDW virgins as we only went once as adults and that was w/o kids and only for two days. We stayed off property. Are there options to buy time share times off people so that we have a condo with kitchen rather than just a hotel room?

We miss you all and we miss the mouse :earboy2:

darcimborcherding - I remember seeing you guys and when your girls came in with their princess dresses, me and the wife thought how adorable. We have all boys and have never got to experience that. I remember you guys were at a big table… were you all traveling together?

traceycooper - We did Magens Bay at St Thomas, it was very nice. Kids loved it about as much at the open air taxi ride over  Took a bunch of photos during the ride over and back……….. A few turned out really awesome, the best non-family ones of the trip.

Hope all have a Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff :earsboy:

The big table was my husband and 3 daughters (the princesses) and traceycooper!!!! I looked at pictures last night and have the back of your heads in our photos!!! I know you are in some of tracey's photos too!!! How did we sit next to each other for 7 nights and not realize it!!! Herbert and Sameer were our servers too!!

That is too funny….. I guess we should have worn our door sign lol .... I miss being on the ship. Did you guys by chance do the banana boat ride on CC ??

We didn't do the banana boat. My DH went parasailing. We also did the cabana massage. It was wonderful. I can't wait to go again. We came home to find out our Lab was due any day!!! We now have 11 puppies!! We lost three. She had 14!!! We named the little one Pluto!

Kim--I was concerned when you said you wound up in the ER Christmas night--so much so, I didn't read the entire text. I'm glad everything turned out okay. Croup is no fun and ERs are probably the worst place to land on Christmas night. I'm glad everything is okay.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!! We did - the only thing better would have been celebrating on Mickey's Boat (with all of you guys, of course)

Gailyn - I've been taking the same week vacation for over 10 years and I always promise to have most of my Christmas shopping done before I go. But I'm getting worse and worse. But we do put up the outdoor decorations in November - we know what the weather will be like in December when we get back. And, I put up my Dicken's village before we left. But we were very slow getting up the other decorations. We'll do better NEXT year!!

Kim - I hope your little guy is doing better. What a terrible place (ER) to be during the holidays.

DisneyFan - LOVED your pictures. Even my 5 year old sat there and watched the slide show ... yelling all the way thorugh "we were there" ... "look it's Mickey's Boat" .... etc. Some really great pictures.
