11/27/04 the sequel.....

I would highly recommend coming in on Friday. Too many horror stories about delays!! Also, remember the Saturday you are coming in is the end of the Thanksgiving holiday week and the airports could be congested.

I agree with izzinmac. Not only are there delays, but depending upon the airline, you may also find flight times moved around. We booked with ATA and they've re-scheduled our flight from 3:40 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. While it's an inconvenience, it's not a major stressor since we're arriving the night before. If we had planned to arrive at 11:30 a.m. on embarking day and it was moved to 1:30 p.m. I wouldn't be nearly as calm as I am now!

Thanks you guys, I went ahead and changed our flight we are now coming in on Fri eve. Next question, are there any car rental drop off locations right at the port, we don't want to be at the mercy of a hotel shuttle that may not be willing to take us to the port when we want to go, so i thought maybe we would rent a car and return it at the port.

kim

I don't rent a car since I live near the port, but as I recall, Avis has a drop off near the port (close to the Raddison) and they will shuttle you to the port. Best way to do it is to take everyone to the port in the rental, drop off pax and luggage, and have the driver in the family take the car to Avis and catch the shuttle back alone. In the meantime the rest of you can be checking in at the terminal and get a place in line to board!

Thanks you guys, i can't believe how nice you all are and how helpful. Now I'll move on to finding a rental car and hotel. Can't wait to meet everyone!

izzi, I have decided that I am not going to get a hotel! We are just going to head to your home on Thanksgiving Day, so be ready for us! LOL

I guess I better go ahead and decide what I want to day for the night before huh? Its creeping up on me!

Oops, I hit the wrong button and posted this as a new thread by mistake! What a moron LOL!

Kim,

We also booked through Budget. They gave us a Costco rate of $64.18 which includes the tax. I don't know if that's good or not, but it seemed lower that others at the time and Budget received high satisfaction ratings on the dcltribute site.

I haven't found any clothes bargains :( , but I'm still happily looking! I did find a nice over the door shoe holder at Target for only $11. I'll be happy to keep it afterward, it's not ugly and my DH will be glad that shoes are not flying out of my closet all the time!

I hope everyone's kids are feeling better. Our son Matt has been sick all week. I'm afraid that he won't be able to get his flu shot on Sat!

I still don't know what the kids will be wearing on formal night. DH is wearing a tux. I'm looking forward to getting a nice family picture since we haven't done that in a long time.

Well, that's all for now. Have a great week!!

Tracey,

I just caught up to date on posts, I hope Leanne is continuing to improve and that no surgury is needed!

Amanda,

I hope the ped was able to give your daughter something and that she's feeling better.

I'll keep them both in my prayers. It's that time of year again!

I'm looking forward to spending some time in the sun and warm weather! :sunny:

Well, this has been a VERY big Disney day!! First of all, "Cruisin' with the Crew #5" (family mouseletter all about cruising DCL-style) went out via email tonight; this issue's all about specifics on our staterooms (category 9) including lots of pics plus information on Diversions, Cove Cafe, Sports Deck ten, the fitness center, and the walking promenade! I included an invitation to high tea for all the ladies (over 18...sorry, Miss Moriah!) in the group...hope the guys won't feel left out! ;) Also formally asked for Micah (my nephew) to decide on "the" day that he wants his birthday celebration. I was talking to my younger sis (Tiffany, aka pixiechick77) the other day, and she mentioned that he had told her (after much deliberation on the phone) that he wanted it celebrated on Tuesday, November 30th...but I'm waiting to hear it directly from him to make it "official" (ie. get it posted on the Birthday list!)

The other big news of the day...*drumroll please!* DH will be flying in on December 4th so that we can spend two days after the cruise enjoying WDW all decked out for the holidays!!!! Yippee!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc You might remember that DH is the only member of the family that CANNOT come on the cruise with us; he's a schoolteacher, and his principal got sly to his Disney trips last year during a week-long family trip for MNSSHP! Needless to say, I know he feels a bit left out even though his cover is that he gets terribly seasick (though this part is true!) Anyway, we found that Independence Air was having a 50% off sale until midnight so we got him a $80 roundtrip ticket on non-stop flights!! Woo-hoo! Flying out of Greensboro, NC...thought of aprilriddle! :D I snagged an $80 flight too...cheaper than changing my flight dates plus I was originally flying out of Raleigh-Durham on a VERY early flight on the 26th. Now I have better flight times at an airport much closer to my house. Heck, I can even sleep in on the 26th if I want to!! Yeah, like that's going to happen. ;) We have a $48/night room reserved at the Comfort Suites Maingate East (which I'm heard raves about), but I'm still trying to find a way to stay onsite. Darn those expired Aps!! Room-only codes for the general public expired Sunday as well.

So now I'm one of those people that has to pack for the cruise with WDW in mind as well! Gosh, never thought that would be a problem! I'm a little concerned that I won't pack warm enough clothes for WDW as people have mentioned wearing jackets and mittens for MVMCP...I can just see my suitcase now, packing gloves for a cruise! :smooth: How is everyone else doing it? We are only staying until the 6th or I'd be in REAL trouble.

Babble, babble...thanks for listening! Pretty soon we'll be down to just one more month...time is certainly speeding up a bit~
:p IVY :p

Amanda,

I checked! We have two vacancies that day - the $200 Goofy Suite, or the $500 Scrouge Mc Duck super suite. Please let me know which you want. Must be 100% prepaid 4 weeks prior to reservation date. No refunds.

Izzinmac Luxury Suites are a hooligan free environment!:hyper: :hyper:

(Clarification- that doesn't mean its free for hooligans!!)

Gailyn,
On a more serious note, I read in your post you were planning a tea for the ladies. I assume that is the High Tea. I know in the past that has been the most difficult reservation to get. So if you are going for that, make sure you board the ship as early as possible and go straight to the Palo reservation location to get those. It may be a little easier now, since they charge for it. When it was free, reservations went fast, and then few showed up for the tea (no penalty-no commitment to keep reservation!) But just to be sure, I would get the ressies early!

Yesterday was not a good day! We lost Mac (the mac part of izzinmac - izzi has been gone for about 4 years). Mac was an 11 year old German Shepard. He has been dealing with hip dysplasia for the past year, and yesterday he couldn't get up. The good news was that it was a long ordeal for us, but because he was so big and in pain when we tried to move him, we were able to get a vet to come to the house. Very peaceful and stress free for him, and he was comfortable to the end. We will miss him!

Wow Ivy great price on the airfair! I should have looked into Independence Air - although I am pretty happy with the price we got since the day before when I checked it - it was $50 dollars more a ticket. I detest going out of Raleigh since PTI is such a nice airport - and very easy to get to - I don't even have to get on I-40 to get there since I live very close.Well I'
m sorry that your DH can't go with you but I think it is great that he can come for a couple of days after. I am really excited to go to the parks with all the decorations up. I think I am happier every day about our decision to go at this time of year. Won't be long until we all meet up! everyone have a great weekend.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, it's so hard when we lose these members of our family. I'm glad you could find a compassionate vet. I will pray for your family!
Kim

izzinmac: I was so sorry to hear about Mac's passing. :( We'll keep your family in our prayers.

Izzi - I am very sorry to hear about your dog. I was in a similar situation around this time last year and although she has been gone for a year now - I still miss her but know that she isn't in any more pain. Pets add so much to our lives - it is hard to imagine a life without them.

:wave2:
Hi all

izzinmac - so sorry to hear about your dog, i used to have a german shepard too (called lady - after lady & the tramp my favourite film) i lost her 9 years ago & it still makes me upset to talk or think about her, she was my baby, i hope you can console yourselves knowing Mac is no longer in any pain & we are all thinking about you. Take care:grouphug:

jessegirl, the massage for 2 is $242 or $278 on CC for 50 mins

Dh brought a tux today!!!! i never thought he would do it - well its a black suit with a white shirt & tux tie (we call the tie's 'dickie bows' do you use that phrase in the US??) He looked very handsom i kept calling him James Bond:groom:
I think we are going to book FL tours to take us to port.
DD is at an extreme sports birthday party today:scared:
just praying she doesnt break any bones!!!
she has finished the antibiotics & has been fine - no pain.

Wow -- it's been SO long since I've been on the boards, and seemed so unlikely we would take this trip when we rebooked on board over a year agol I'm really looking forward to seeing the countdown clock

Will be myself and DH (42/38), and we're bringing my parents for their 45th anniversary (72/65). They've never been on a cruise before, never thought they'd ever go on one & starting to get excited. Most of the cruise for Mom & Dad will be a complete surprise. We put them into a cat. 6, which should pretty much blow them away :D

Looking forward to maybe meeting some of you on board.
