Hi Y'all: We are taking the cruise for our Tenth Wedding Anniversary. My DH tried to surprise me with the land/sea package. However, nosey me, I opened an envelope from DCL that had the itinerary. I just thought it was advertisement. Oops!
I was pleasantly surprise as you can imagine. We had our honeymoon in the Bahamas and he remembered that we vowed to go back again in ten years. He is such the romantic.
However, this time we will have extra baggage, three kids!
We are getting more and more excited about the upcoming cruise. This will be our first cruise and we are excited to include the kids (ds6, dd4 & ds1).
This site has given us so much valuable information. Thank you to everyone for spreading your DCL knowledge for us newbies.
This was the only place I found that addressed the 75 days out 12 am PACIFIC STANDARD TIME on first-timers to book excursions, Palo and Flounder's. We live in TX and were up at 2 AM to book and got everything we wanted, even a couples open-air cabana massage on CC and dinner at Palo for our first choice night and time. We never would have been able to do it without all the DISer's knowledge. This site is addictive.
I check it every time I get online. I never would have known about the "Pirate Night"
and party either. They don't cover that on the DCL site. The kids are excited and can't wait to pick out their pirate costumes. I may even coax the husband into getting dressed up. I am sure it will be a night we don't forget. I also may try and contact Shirley to have some baskets waiting for the kids in the stateroom. She seems like a nice lady and from what I have learned does great "theme" baskets.
I have forewarned my DH to keep some money aside to rebook while onboard for 2008. I understand it will be DCL's 10th Anniversary and I am sure they will have some neat things planned and by then our DS1 should be old enough to remember some of the cruise. He won't remember a thing from this one. So, I plan on taking plenty of pictures for his book. Same with WDW. He won't remember meeting Mickey but I am sure the pictures will be cute.
I can't wait to get DS1 some Mickey ears. We got DS6 and DD4 some at Downtown Disney last time and got their names sewn on them. They can't wait to wear them again. We went to WDW for the first time two years ago. Neither my husband or I had ever been as children. We were like big kids at MK.
It was magical to share it with our children. We'd always see the Disney commercials of happy families riding Dumbo and having fun. It was surreal when we actually got to ride Dumbo ourselves.
It was the best day we'd ever had as a family. The kids behaved all day, they even fell asleep DURING the fireworks.
I now know why they call it the "happiest place on earth", that is until you get home and find out how much you actually spent. At least this time most everything has been pre-paid and we can go relax and have fun. Last time, we stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort. It was nice, but I am looking forward to the Beach Club Resort we will be staying at before the cruise. We went to the Cape May Cafe' last time for a Character Breakfast and the hotel was really nice. We are going to be exhausted by the time we get to the cruise. We plan on going to ALL the parks this trip and making the most of the Park Hopper passes. I am sure we will all pass out early the first night on the cruise. I hope there is nothing we'll miss.I am looking forward to the cruise.
I am a stay-at-home mom and have many chaotic days. My husband was away on business last week and will be again the beginning of November. Caring for three children 24/7 is tiring. I cherish the fact that my DS6 is in the First Grade. I was sad last year when he went to Kindergarten. This year, I couldn't wait for First Grade to start. When I have a teething DS1 in my arms, my DD4 crying to be held too and DS6 crying of hunger, I think of the upcoming trip with the open-air cabana massage on CC and I know that all will be well. It sure is nice to have the trip to look forward to. I can daydream while doing my fifth load of laundry for the day.
We will soon be cruising. Yea!
I can't wait to go and experience all the fun I've been reading about on here and of course try a chocolate souffle' from Palo. Yum! Yum!BTW- Does anyone know if Pluto will be onboard? He is my DS6 favorite character. Thanks!
I just saw a thread about the Wonder on its way to Norfolk, VA to dry dock. I know my DH didn't know about the dry dock before making our reservations. I sure am glad we are going after dry dock. All the changes sound wonderful.
The new pool area for toddlers really interested me for our DS1. We have a pool at home and he loves splashing and playing in the water. We are getting more and more anxious for the cruise. Tick tock! Tick tock!
DH and I both have twins in our families (my maternal grandfather is a twin and DH has a brother with twins). With every sonogram we held our breathes thinking it could be twins. We may have tried for a fourth child, but I thought we might end up with five. So, three children is my limit.
Yes, we will have to have one of those Konch Koolers I keep hearing about.
DH and I definitely plan on spending some time at Serenity Bay while on CC. Are you having dinner at Palo while onboard? Did you do it last time? If so, how was it? We are scheduled for dinner on the last night at 8:30 PM. We have early seating for dinner. So, we will still be able to say good bye to our server and have dinner with the children that night. One last time to relax just the two of us.
I know the ship doesn't leave until 7:30 PM, but we want to be back onboard into safety before it gets dark.
I can't wait for Halloween to be over .
My poor DH goes back to work that Monday with just one day of rest. However, he works from home on Mondays. So, that will work out nicely for him.
